I don't care what people say but zero to sixty in 5.3 seconds and braking @ 113 feet, that's impressive stats for such as massive "four-door" muscle car! I would love to have one but I'm sceptic on gas price which would ruin the fun of owning one for I would be scared of putting the petal to the metal and have to go to the gas station more frequently. Gas goes down and the economy goes up I will be putting this on my drivers wish list for sure!;)

@ewhusky99 It's great. Interior is where Dodge made the biggest improvement. It makes me wanna drive it and take the scenic route home. I've had it for about 3 months now and still love it. I have the V6 and I average 22 mpg city/hwy overall. I can tell you all day or you can go check it out in person. Make sure you check out a one with 8.4-inch touch screen.
I got a brand new 2011 Charger V6 Rallye Plus (leather, sunroof, backup camera, heated 2nd rear seats, etc.) for $25k about three months ago. If you look at Chargers with an expectation of true homage to the original Charger and fit it into a muscle car category, then the new Charger won't do.
I'm with you there. For those who are comparison shopping, it is a full size car; the other except the Impala is a mid-size. Its competition to me for the V6 would be Buick LaCrosse, Nissan Maxima, Ford Taurus, Toyota Avalon, and Hyundai Genesis. V-8 versions would compare to Hyundai Genesis V-8, Taurus SHO, and perhaps a turbo I-6 or V-8 BMW 5 Series (for hp comparisons).

@ikkoe I agree with you, it would be cool if Chrysler did do that, like GM with the Cadillac CTS, Mercedes with the E Class etc, but for Chrysler, financially and market wise, it is smarter to have a Coupe and a Sedan, not a Coupe and a Sedan that can also be a coupe if you possibly would like it to be. Not only that but the main market for Dodge cars are families, which makes just having the Charger sedan a smarter option.
But image how sales would be if there was the coupe version and the sedan so the people that want a family sports car but cant afford something like BMW and the muscle car fanatics plus it'll be faster then the challenger
@ikkoe Well its always a possibility, but there is no incentive for Chrysler to do it unfortunately, and making it faster than the challenger would be a bad move because why would you buy the muscle car if the coupe version of the family sedan was faster, and probably cheaper?
Because its cheaper thats why people would buy it, minus the two doors in general or... When Mopar, Super Bee, and Hemi SRT8 trims are out they should specifically have coupe options. They have the Avenger, the 300c,and the 200c so a Charger coupe would be a great addition. Plus the fact that I'm pretty sure the Charger and Challenger are about equal in speed the only reason the charger would be faster is because it'll be lighter minus the two doors.
I actually just bought my 2011 this past weekend. This is my 3rd recent Dodge. Previously I owned a 2.7 Magnum and then a 3.5 Challenger. I was finally able to upgrade to a Charger RT for my 40th birthday. I must say that the styling hasn't completely won me over yet. The interior IS leaps and bounds past previous generations though. The extra 120bhp of the Hemi engine makes me completely forget any current or past shift problems for now.

It is a big full sized family sedan compared to your pony car, and it is only .2 of a second slower. I would not be bragging about your cars performance in comparison. Why is this reporter complaining about the transmission? I just took a testdrive in a 2011 Charger R/T with the 5.7 Hemi. The automatic transmission was shifting smooth & very fast. Kickdown response was super. So it has 'only' 5 gears...Big deal. The only reason an engine as flexible & strong as the 5.7 Hemi needs a different trans is because other brands have more gears.

Also the 5 speed auto can handle the torque of the 5.7 L HEMI. The 2012 Charger with the 3.6L Pentastar V-6 has the 8-speed auto. The 8-speed auto may come for the HEMI in a year or two.

I got e-mail from Dodge, and they said what you have said. The 8-speed auto, and I'm hearing they're adding paddle shifters as well, but it's only for the Pentastar V-6. I'm not sure when 8-speed auto will come to the HEMI engines. One report says in '13 and another says '14. And the fuel economy with the V-6 and 8-speed auto? 20 city/31 highway. And next year, all models will have all-wheel drive available.
@lightssmith They should make them somewhere different than they are now. The tranny's&most of the hemi parts for these have never been made in the states - they let the mexicans make em.
@TopperRollinCoal People always blame the country of assembly. Whether it be the fault of the UAW, lazy britons, or mexicans. I don't see how they could have something to do with things like the engine or tranny however, or much of the car for that matter. robots do 90% of it, including making the transmissions and ratios.
370 horses for the inaugural 2011 models for the 5.7 HEMI, clearly dodge has left quite some HP still on the plate to be massaged out of this beastly engine, since the previous one already was good for 360 i sense that later models for 2012/2013 will breach the 400 horse mark, from the factory that is.

Oh and the people complaining its a coronet because it has 4 doors need to learn some history of the charger. The Coronet came first and was originally 2 doors as well. The literally took a coronet welded a fast back roof on and changed the grill boom you call it a Charger. The 68-70 gave us the iconic look and deviated it more from the Coronet, which was still 2 doors until 71 then it was almost literally a 4 door Charger.
To the guys saying a charger can't hang with a mustang or Camaro, I own a 2007 SRT8 it eats Mustangs and new Camaro's for breakfast. The new SRT8 looks to be even better the only problem is Dodge stopped shy of the 500HP mark that would compete with the Shelby's and the rumored Z-28.
I agree that some times I wish the tranny was quicker, even in maunal mode its not the best and you need a programmer like the Diablo to overcome the computer tuning it down from your everyday driving.
I just test drove the road and track edition yesterday and walked away extremely surprised. I'm currently driving an STI. Fun but i'm growing out of it. I want something with beef but i don't want a super stiff ride anymore. This car was surprisingly fun and comfortable. It had no problem throwing me in the seat from any speed. Obviously it wasn't quite as nimble as my STI, but it hugged the turns without any problem.
@thyaaawad its not the car kid, its the driver. if youre a pussy in a corner and dont gas it you will get understeer. if you push that gas down hard in a corner you can get as much oversteer as you want. its rwd if you didnt know
@Bongwater123 hey puss if a car has a heavy engine in the front...like the dodge charger and hard tires it will understeer everytime, so if u know anything about race cars, or any experiance in racing cars, you will know that not just because a car has rwd it will oversteer, and ive driven one of these the only way it will oversteer is if you shift weight and brake early nd give it gas half way through the corner nd if u know anything mr (driver) you know that , that process will slow you down.

@camaroman101 Well the F&F movies won't appeal to everyone. They're guy movies. If you're not into cars or high octane action then you won't like them. The franchise however has done well at the box office. Although Tokyo Drift didn't do well as the others.

@TopperRollinCoal The transmissions are made in Kokomo, Indiana, the engine is made in Mexico and the car itself is assembled in Brampton,Ontario Canada, the only part of the car that is crap is the tranny and it was designed by mercedes. The 8's are on the way, built by ZF same company that builds Bently and Maserati transmissions.

I got e-mail from Dodge, and they said what you have said. The 8-speed auto, and I'm hearing they're adding paddle shifters as well, but it's only for the Pentastar V-6. I'm not sure when 8-speed auto will come to the HEMI engines. One report says in '13 and another says '14. And the fuel economy with the V-6 and 8-speed auto? 20 city/31 highway. And next year, all models will have all-wheel drive available.

@TopperRollinCoal People always blame the country of assembly. Whether it be the fault of the UAW, lazy britons, or mexicans. I don't see how they could have something to do with things like the engine or tranny however, or much of the car for that matter. robots do 90% of it, including making the transmissions and ratios.

370 horses for the inaugural 2011 models for the 5.7 HEMI, clearly dodge has left quite some HP still on the plate to be massaged out of this beastly engine, since the previous one already was good for 360 i sense that later models for 2012/2013 will breach the 400 horse mark, from the factory that is.

Oh and the people complaining its a coronet because it has 4 doors need to learn some history of the charger. The Coronet came first and was originally 2 doors as well. The literally took a coronet welded a fast back roof on and changed the grill boom you call it a Charger. The 68-70 gave us the iconic look and deviated it more from the Coronet, which was still 2 doors until 71 then it was almost literally a 4 door Charger.

To the guys saying a charger can't hang with a mustang or Camaro, I own a 2007 SRT8 it eats Mustangs and new Camaro's for breakfast. The new SRT8 looks to be even better the only problem is Dodge stopped shy of the 500HP mark that would compete with the Shelby's and the rumored Z-28.
I agree that some times I wish the tranny was quicker, even in maunal mode its not the best and you need a programmer like the Diablo to overcome the computer tuning it down from your everyday driving.

I just test drove the road and track edition yesterday and walked away extremely surprised. I'm currently driving an STI. Fun but i'm growing out of it. I want something with beef but i don't want a super stiff ride anymore. This car was surprisingly fun and comfortable. It had no problem throwing me in the seat from any speed. Obviously it wasn't quite as nimble as my STI, but it hugged the turns without any problem.

@thyaaawad its not the car kid, its the driver. if youre a pussy in a corner and dont gas it you will get understeer. if you push that gas down hard in a corner you can get as much oversteer as you want. its rwd if you didnt know

@Bongwater123 hey puss if a car has a heavy engine in the front...like the dodge charger and hard tires it will understeer everytime, so if u know anything about race cars, or any experiance in racing cars, you will know that not just because a car has rwd it will oversteer, and ive driven one of these the only way it will oversteer is if you shift weight and brake early nd give it gas half way through the corner nd if u know anything mr (driver) you know that , that process will slow you down.

@thyaaawad i think i know a little bout cars man, i have a 2004 mazda 6, a 1993 ford crown vic, and a 1986 porsche 911. the crown vic has a heavy ass engine in the front and that car never understeers. understeer in a rwd car is driver error... enough said kid.

I think it's a boner on 4 chrome rims! Awesome car, I love the new design.....I do agree on making this a 6 speed manual transmission. And a 2 door option would sale alot better then the 4 door. Overall Doge is keeping it looking good and hopefully will prefect the design one day!
