  • Hmmmm. I just opened my guitar case that I hadn't opened in about...oh. 25 years!!! I just took a new interest in my old guitar. Its an S. Yairi that I purchased sometime around 1978 in the US for back then around $600. Now, I am wondering if I have something special here. It still sounds absolutely wonderful. If anyone has any an info on these old guitars, please reply. I'd love to know more about this guitar!

  • 2 good sir ,great . regards

  • hi chintoomsingh, thanks a lot for listening. i LOVED some of your guitar work on your own chanel. was wondering about the tuning though. be well, chuck.

  • It's funny, when I saw this on Your channel, the picture looked like a painting...very cool

  • hello reliablebow, thanks for taking the time to listen to this. i really enjoyed having the nieces and nephews home for the thanksgiving holiday and their kind support in the project. be well, chuck.

  • good morning boggieman, thanks for the listen and for the nice comment. we had fun with this one, took a while to build the stage and order in the body paint, but it was an enjoyable family project with nieces and nephews. be well, chuck.

  • forever free artists in love my dear

  • great song, liked the props, is that the nylon string Taylor?

  • hello byron, no, that guitar was hand made in japan in 1973 by sada yiari. he and his brother built guitars for alvarez in the fifties, but sada went into business for himself. this nylon string guitar is a flamingo guitar with clear pic guard above and below the strings. sides and back are cyprus and the top is cedar. i like the bright sound and the action is very low. thanks for the visit. see you monday.

  • Hello,

Are you sure that is a Sadao Yairi guitar? I can't make out enough details in the vid to tell, but I've only seen spruce tops on his. Is there a label with a model number? Just curious~

  • hello yairiluvr. i'm pretty sure it is. the luthier i bought it from is roger thurman in kent ohio and his specialty is nylon stringed instruments. he had to move the bridge about an eighth inch or less further from the nut because the scale was not perfect, but he has even had to do that with good martins sometimes. human error i guess. the label inside the guitar reads: hand made Yairi Guitars yairi gakki ltd. made in japan ad 1973 and it is signed in ink S. Yairi be well, chuck.

  • Hello Chuck, He had changed his brand name so often it is sometimes difficult to tell what is what, especially if the label is missing. The YAIRI GUITARS label was later on than his YAIRI GAKKI label. All should have either SADA YAIRI (sometimes just YAIRI) "Nagoya, Made in Japan" on one of the back braces. As for the woods, if yours is Cedar it is the first one I've seen... most are Spruce, but stained to look like Cedar. Also, there should be a CLASE number in the lower right corner~

  • you are right about one thing, in small letters it does say "Nagoya" . i am thinking now that you are probably right about the cedar. it very well could be spruce, stained to look like cedar. chuck.

  • hello yairiluvr. my computer was down for a while. but the answer is "yes" there is a clase number, right under the hand written signature. the number is 9003 and i have no idea what it means. judging by your yt name, you must have a lot of knowledge about these guitars. i only recently learned that yari, and i think it is Sadao Yairi, also made some high quality steel string guitars. do you think some of them are equal to names like martin , taylor, mcpherson? be well, chuck.

  • Short answer (there isn't a lot of room here) is that yes, Sada or Sadao Yairi (same person) made some VERY nice steel string guitars! He made steel string guitars for many more years than he made classicals, he only got interested in classical guitars in 1940, and didn't start production until 1960. His first classical models were crude compared to later ones, but his steel strings by that time were exceptional guitars! He started his factory in the early 1930's~ after leaving Suzuki Violin.

  • yeah gotta give you 5 stars for originality

  • was not expecting that. Thank you.
