Is there a t-stat that can be programmed to prevent the resident (apartment occupant especially) from setting the temp below 65 degrees. If so which one do you recommend.
The Honeywell 5000 is a great non-programmable t-stat that will allow you to set both the high and low temp lockout. The Honeywell 8000 is a great programmable t-stat that will allow you to do the same. By the way, the Honeywell Prestige will allow you to do it, too.
Like a dumbass I did not label my wires I have a 8 wire set up red blue orange black brown yellow green gold how do I find out what goes were help would be great thank if u can help
I'm a fellow HVAC Refrigeration Tech, like you. I look forward, after a 9-10 hour work day, coming home and watching your videos! They are very helpful and informative!! You are a true inspiration to our field!! Please add me to your HS 33 multi meter drawing. How is the adoption process going...please keep us posted! Thank you so much, Jim
Sir. Thank you for this video. It was extremely helpful and helped me decide to purchase this great thermostat. One question: when the display snaps into place, it appears to be 100% flush with the backplate towards the bottom but not quite 100% on the top where it has two protruding plastic "hooks". So most of the support for the display appears to be on the bottom, and it does appear to be securely in place. Is this how the unit is installed or am I not quite doing it right? Thanks again.
Actually, the thermostat should attach equally on the top and bottom. You might want to pull it back off the wall and see if you can reseat it properly. Then again, if it's working, I wouldn't argue with it.
think I have the Vision pro 8000 and LOVE it :> Would like that one for the remote but still can't make myself part with the cash, even at my discount rate, lol :>
Why on earth do you have the white AND black on your emergency heat terminal?? In my line of work (controls electrician), black is common or nothing at all. SOME people use blue and I don't know why. In the low voltage world, black is ground. I prefer to use blue for Y2 if present. Secondly, why don't you just leave the green on the G terminal where it belongs and switch your fan ON at the stat?? The control capability is there, why would you connect it to R?
But I can't control the fresh air damper. And I would have to fish new sets of wires up from the basement up to the attic and back down to the t-stat. IAQ just use 3 for all of my hook up.
Thanks for showing how this t-stat works. Looks like a great product., since its made by Honeywell I'm assuming it is compatible with the truesteam ? Merry Christmas
So, you are energizing your electric heat strips at the same time you are energizing your gas heat? I would agree with autobarry you can hook up the green wire to the (G) terminal and just use the swich in the thermostat, after all thats what it is there for. Thanks for the video, seems like a nice thermostat. the humidification and dehumidification features are awsome as well!!
I don't have a gas furnace. I just have both W2 and E connected at the same terminal because the Prestige doesn't have separate terminals. I have the G terminal connected to RC because I need a constant call for fan.
That is nice, but I would think you could wire to the g terminal and put the fan in continous mode instead of wiring to the r, but I could be wrong. Again great job and thanks for your post.
Is it just me, or does Dudley seem indifferent about the prestige? LOL, cool dog!!

You really need to trace where in the air handler they're connected and go from there.

We have been working with older honeywell t-stats in school. Interesting vid! I love this kinda stuff.

Hi
i've tried to install the same t-stat but it doesn't come ON when snapped in place.
I checked the voltage and found that i only have 18 volts which did the trick for my Honeywell mercury t-stat. What is your take sir.
thanks

Mount your OAT sensor on the north wall. Case closed.
cndlpwr 2 years ago
Could you mount your outdoor sensor in outside unit to keep it out of direct sunlight ??? like we do with 2 - wire odt sensor
fritzhvac 2 years ago
As long as you can keep it out of the weather and from picking up the air from the outside fan.

Will this stat work on modulating furnaces, Rheem and York?
78921456 2 years ago
It won't if the system requires a proprietary thermostat to regulate the variable speed.
DrZarkloff 2 years ago
HOW MUCH?
co2x3 2 years ago
It's around $400. Although, the non-HD version is much less.
DrZarkloff 2 years ago
hey doc why did honeywell not make that out door sensor solar battery ? last forever must be a lithium battery gig. nice product but
co2x3 2 years ago
I guess that solar powered sensors wasn't in the plan. It does sound like a cool idea, though.

Wonder why They didn't do Aux and E by itself? They have "Unused" slot on the sub-base...
I would love to have this stat, but the IAQ does a lot more than this can with my system.. Hopefuly they will do the HD IAQ some time soon.

The Prestige does control Humidity, too. You can connect a humidifier and a dehumidifier to the Prestige.

I wired it this way to insure a constant call for fan. I didn't want to chance it in case a visitor were to change the fan mode.
