the amazing thing about you, is you arent "big" you just have hercules strength which is amazing, and wont that workout damage your back in the longrun?
Excellent lift. All the haters in these comments make me chuckle. They'll never be truly strong. Oh well. Your feats of strength will be all the more impressive, because there will be fewer people who will actually try them because they are to busy using "the idea of momentum" and preening themselves in the mirror after a tough set of 3 lb side laterals followed by an hour of mindless chatter. Keep up the good work, Steelpot!
You have very powerful ' real world ' strength, a true rarity in the current fitness world, now dominated by cosmetic strength - merely looking strong rather than actually being strong.
Thnx. Working on technique, 25# olympic plates are too tall and get snagged on shoulder. Hate dipping under the weight, other options would include "long" standard dumbbell or globe-bell with10inch diameter heads..
Great lift. What impressed me is not only that you lifted that amount of weight overhead with one hand, but that you pretty much also cleaned it with one hand, using the other only to stabalize. I can only clean and press about 100-110 with one hand.
I did have a question about the 180 lbs thought. I noticed that your dumb bell had (it appears) 6 10 lb plates (60 lbs) and 2 5 lb plates (10 lbs). That's only 60 + 10 = 70 lbs. The bar would have to weight 110 lbs?? Are those heavier plates???
Oh those are olympic plates, that's cool! Thanks for clearing that up!! Great job man and hope to see you soon at the Arnold's Classics or in competition! :) Do you have any competition vids you can upload?? I'd love to check them out!!
It's really a freak show now? That's disappointing cause I was thinking about going this year. Oh no boredom here man, your vids are great!! Yes definitely, always train hard, back injuries and all!!
Great lifting man! One arm presses are much tougher than two arm presses as a lot of ppl commenting here seem to forget. You have to recruit a lot more muscles for the insane amount of balance it takes! I know cause I've been using kettle bells for a long time! Good job!!
Cool Vid, but I think it would be cooler to see you press up the weight without other body movement. You should only use your deltoids, and not the jolt of you whole body.
The beauty of this lift is the mechanics of total body movement, in which each individual muscle group 'fires" in sequence to provide both lift , then support..
Not to worry, my delts got a great workout that day /only reason why I lift weights/.
No. 'Muscular' lifts don't use momentum- these are the traditional lifts you'd see in a training center. This lift was reminiscent of what you'd see a powerlifter do, sort of a clean and snatch. You didn't use your deltoids to press the weight.
this looks like 3 7.5's and a 5 either side. this isnt 180lbs. whats with the ancient plates lol? why dont you use modern? good stuff though i do a similar thing myself. should have some vids up on the morrow. i do standind military dumbell presses with 66kg dumbell for 10 reps, and clean and press a 76kg dumbell, havnt practised long though.
awesome lift my friend - you are right to be proud! Have you tried dumbbell swings with a weight like this - a la Brooks? That works nicely too - although drop the weight for that -like your block lift to barrel too - very innovative! Good strength - what country are you in? T

Is liting dumbbells harder han lifting barbells?
rmsolympic1 2 years ago
150 lbs is a heavy weight, lift such as this is twice that of average "strong" man.
Handfull of males can claim such full-body strength.
Great job!
Magicman531 has a voice of reason.
Globe-bell with "bullet" shaped heads seems the next option..
STEELPOT1 2 years ago
Well, that's actually a jerk, but 180 one handed, and cleaned, is strong, very strong.

GREAT comment below.Read and laugh...HAHAHA.
Next time you try lifting any kind of weights, remmember it does not develop strength and is pointless.HAHAHA!!!
STEELPOT1 3 years ago
Pointless exercise. It does not develop strength just it's based on momentum, so it develops that kind of power.
milnusthegnome 3 years ago
Every lift is based on the idea of momentum, idiot.
Apjooz 3 years ago
What the hell is the "idea of momentum"?
Some bullshit you made up? :)
NOTHING is based on the "idea of momentum"...
Strength comes from the muscle contractions controlled by the brain...
Muscle contractions generate power to move weights directly opposing the gravity...
Time for your ballet class, retard!
STEELPOT1 3 years ago
No. 'Muscular' lifts don't use momentum- these are the traditional lifts you'd see in a training center. This lift was reminiscent of what you'd see a powerlifter do, sort of a clean and snatch. You didn't use your deltoids to press the weight.
