I have a question,im getting a Senegal soon and she doesn't trust people enough to let you touch her head, and she is also scared of hands, she will step up on to an arm and sit on your shoulder but doesn't step up for hands or let you touch her head.Any advice?
My, Senegal, Jay Jay, loves neck rubs. In fact, he will not come out of his cage until he gets his massage. As soon as I open his cage door, his head goes down to the perch.
kili doesn't like being patted like that. no bird or animal does. when she makes that "purring" sound she's actually angry/annoyed. at least that was the case with my parrots. it's a sign of aggressiveness. she even tries to bite him, but doesn't because she knows better.
@TCC4U If Kili didn't like it, she'd fly away. Instead she flies over to me every day just to be pet this way. Purring, eye pinning, etc are signs of excitement. To understand if it's happy excitement or aggressive you have to look at it in context. If the bird is biting/fleeing, then it's aggressive excitement but if it's bending its head down asking for more, it's about the highest level of parrot happiness you can achieve.
@kiliparrot i agree my parrot makes purring sounds when she's mad too.. but that dont mean your doing a bad job.. my parrot isnt as abedient thats why im lookin up your videos lol but we working on it =)
@TCC4U I think you are thinking of cats... they dont like to be pet the opposite way... but its different for parrots. I do that to my sennies too and they LOVE it and it feels soooo good. Maybe the same feeling as a ear swab in our ears when cleaning lol...
what happens to his eyes like they go really small is that a good sign or bad because my indian ringneck does it i dont know if i like doing something she dont like i get really confused help me please
Hey my friend, i have a same like yours, and i want to know why ( in the end of video) he start to expel something through his mouth, in may hand). Is because he is/she excited?
Shes a beautiful Senegal! I have a question about one of the actions she does when youre petting her beak. When she starts to, i guess you could say, upchuck to you, do you know what that means? I used to have a Half moon conure that would do that to me, like she was offering me food. It was cute and strange at the same time haha. If youve got any input thanks!
My Senegal does the same thing - I've read that it's a mating ritual. By offering you pre-digested food, they're basically saying "Hey, I wanna make a nest with you. Let's be reeeally good friends *wink wink*" :-)
I've also read that you should distract them when they do this - because over time they'll become frustrated that their advances aren't being reciprocated.
Dunno if you guys follow my blog or not but I just posted new pictures I got from the breeder of the Cape. A full update on the Cape progress is available on trainedparrot (link in the description for video). As soon as I get the bird, posts are going to become much more frequent (something between daily and every other day).

What's that thing he/she does at 2.23 mean? Like the regurgitating? My parrot always does it, I've always wondered what it means?

@TCC4U Clearly, you don't know anything about parrots and can't tell a happy parrot when you see one.
