I first played this game when I was 13 or 14, I'm 24 now. It would def be on my top 5 of all time list, both 1&2 counting as one. Bought a new joystick for it too, the Saitek Cyborg X Stick. When you're not fighting in Freespace, and listening to the briefings and the cutscenes, this is all perfectly fitting.
Words can't do me justice for this; I just recently got into Freespace again, and I'm terribly saddened about the fall of Freespace 3, and the mysteries and questions that were never answered.
But, it's good to know the spirit is still alive, and people like you, and those working on the Open Source can continue it :).
I think this would make a good teaser trailer (the ones where they announce the movie, but don't really give much information about it >.>) I think The scenes you choose worked VERY well with the whole "creepy" theme. Which I think you pulled off quite nicely.
I like how it takes a break from the action of freespace into the creepy, mysterious part of it.
1:08 especially when the sathanas just comes into view gives a very ominous, mysterious atmosphere. Which I would like to point out again, as many I can see here don't like non-action-ness, that atmosphere was pulled out very well. I think you chose the best scenes to convey that mood.

It's no masterpiece, I know, but the thing that I really wanted to pull out was some kind of disturbing or "uncomfortable" teaser trailer for a Freespace movie. Stay tuned as I'm about to release a Final Trailer for a Freespace movie, which is gonna be more action packed. Still have to do some work on it, but I'm quite pleased with what's coming out. @EliteGod000 It IS good, but the main reason i didn't give it 5 was because of the heavy use of other movies' scenes. While Freespace alone obviously cannot supply the necessary amount of video, some scenes were just a tad too unfitting, and thus made it too not cohesive and smooth. Mainly due to the different lighting and filming styles which made some of the scenes feel disconnected.
At first I was like... If there really is a Freespace movie I...I... honestly wouldn't be able to contain my excitement.... even the song had me creeped out... think of an innocent child looking out of their window at night and seeing something twinkle at the night sky(cue Lucy exiting S-Space) and the Shivans rape the planet.....then I realized that it was just cutscenes and that track played over and I was hurt really bad.... like almost as bad as being Rick Rolled... you sir, are a jerk.

Your video cuts were good, however the twinkle, twinkle star became VERY repetitive, perhaps you could consider using quotes from the game cut-scenes as well as music from the game itself.
Then again, I haven't seen a game intro yet that comes close to intro to Freespace 1. The pacing, voice acting, and camera angles are perfect.
you bet. i think that one hard feature from freespace to transpose to the movie is the "absence" of a main character, which is just a great point in the game. it makes you feel part of a big war story rather than having everything orbiting your own existence

Ah yes ive seen it. All nodes on Earth are destroyed isolating it. But they already solved it in Freespace 2. The discovery of the ancient hyper gates.
As far as im concerned. The shivans wiped out all other species around the galaxy. Including the ancients. And all they were able to do was isolate em. Which enabled the Vasudan and Humans to evolve.
The thing about the Shivans is that we don't know a thing about their intentions. All we have are speculations. Who knows? I would like it and from my point of view it seems fezable. I'm giving a shot at making a browsergame based on this ideea.
I got the impression that they appeared because humans had become too aggressive - sort of re-setting the balance in favour of less evolved races. Which raises interesting questions as to why they carry out that role and if anyone created them to do it...
The Shivans arent really gone. They are just locked away in another part of the galaxy. Since the capella jump node(their only means of travelling to the GTVA universe) has already collapsed.
Well, what about the secret Ross 128 node? The Shivans attacked from more than one place at the begining of FS1, they could easily know about every Jump Node the GTVA doesn't.
Perhaps. but, yeah its really up for the developers if they want to revive this game. But for me. Well, I believe the Franchise ended at the conclusion of Freespace 2.
Why any game developer don't want to produce the 3rd game??? Descent Freespace and Freespace 2 were the best space simulators of all time... And I wish somebody to develop the 3rd version of the game in near future...

the only fear that some fans may have is that it mite end up like the wing commander movie. dont get me wrong, it was an ok movie, and freespace has an awsomly darker tone in it, but it would require some one who understands the game and the story to make a great film for it.

Was aleright, but it felt as if it was leading up to something, a big action scene. Would have been good if the Twinkle Twinkle had faded out around 1:00, then some Freespace music had some on and you showed some ingame video or one of the intro cutscenes.
Don't worry - I've actually been writing a screenplay over the last year or so. It will be made (even if indie) and you'll get to see it. Just maybe not in theaters unless the spec script gets picked up by Dreamworks or Paramount. Here's to crossing some fingers.
To be honest, I think the creepy twinkle, twinkle might have worked for a brief intro - just not the whole thing. It reminds me of a trailer FOX made for the Alien Resurrection game (they did the same thing - in fact it sounds like the same audio)

Volition didn't go down ,if you search you'll see it's fully open and has produced many, although unknown to me, games.
I think they should launch a FS3 because there are many unanswered questions:
-Was Earth found?
-who are shivans eventually?
-What happened excactly to capella and after it?
And because i think that a freespace game made with brand new graphics and extended scenario would be even more perfect than the previous ones!
