  • A step by step video would be very helpful if you have the time to do it, thank you very much.

  • Hi and thanks for the video, does quicktime have the facility to capture video of yourself while you are doing the presentation as in screenflow, if not would you recommend screenflow? many thanks.

  • @martialartsfitness That's a great question. I will run a test when I have some spare time and report back.

  • @martialartsfitness So, yes, you can do this. What I did was fire up Quicktime X, and started a new movie recording, using the camera on my MBP, then once it was framed, I minimized it. Then, I started a new Screen Recording, and went about my business. Snapping your fingers to help with syncing the audio is a good idea. Once done, bring the footage into iMovie/FCP and set one up a a picture in picture. Done! Make sense, or do you need a video showing how?

  • Haha I came here looking for how to record my screen and you just helped me find out all my file sizes because my mac Is full of movies ( apparently ) which I don't have :D

  • I guess you're welcome twice, @pugNdrum. ;-)

  • :) Tried it right away and had lots of fun. I used the inboard microphone and played with it's sound setting. Depending on how I set it, I created a bit of an echo which was entertaining for the moment. Do you suggest using a plug in microphone for better results for the voice recording portion?

  • @Eurikadance Using an external microphone will generally be better quality and not pick up the noise (as much) when you type on the keyboard.

  • I have recorded a few videos but there is no audio. It doesn't pick it up for some reason. I am blind and using voiceover. Could this have something to do with it?? Thank you for your he;lp

  • @Eyelessguy1987 That does sound like it would be the problem. You could try turning off VoiceOver while you record the audio for it, but I imagine that would be problematic. OSX can only do one thing at a time with the microphone - otherwise as you were recording you might say something that would cue VoiceOver and interrupt the recording. If you an iPhone or iPod touch - or something similar, you could use the Voice Note utility to record your audio and then fix it in iMovie or FCP.

  • I recorded the tutorial using ScreenFlow, but in many cases, QuicktimeX will do the trick nicely.

  • How did u record using a recording?

  • You're very welcome.

  • Awesome! Thanks! New to Mac and was wondering how people did these.

  • i have quicktime 7 and it doesn't have screen recording. HELP!!

  • @INuYasha2755 The screen recording feature is available in Quicktime X. The simplest solution is to upgrade your Mac to 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and that should do the trick.
