  • Sounds a bit like Hem, yeah? Love, Billy

  • faith is fine but when the water rises...god won't you. better have a boat and be willing to row.

  • They remind me a bit of The Middle East ...I like...:)

  • the song and video are beautiful

  • how did they make the water?

  • thaz a lot o vaseline

  • Pristine animation.

  • Only "discovered" this band yesterday - I can't stop listening to their songs on here and can't remember the last time any music had such an impact on me. Incredibly moving. I've been a pro musician for 22 years and got so hardened to "ordinariness", I didn't think this would happen again for me - Thank you.

  • @trombone5112 I totally agree with your comment. Have the same feelings about this band!

  • In the end, intent and meanings don't matter. It's all about cause and effect. These guys make music that resonate within people and THAT is what matters. It can mean different things to different people, as long as it MEANS SOMETHING to SOMEONE! I, for one, love this a lot.

  • I listen to this song because it makes me feel sad...

So in a way I want to feel sad, because it feels good.

    Does that make any sense?

  • @yes in a sense,we all belong to sad,its harmonys spiritHallomijnnaamisjo

  • @Hallomijnnaamisjo i understand you completely, i feel the sameway.

  • @Hallomijnnaamisjo hell yes it makes sense! thank u very much! and congrats

  • Powerful stuff!

  • This is *tries to find word to describe how beautiful this song is*

    Its *still looking*

    I think this is..... indescribable

  • @lijah326606noki

    It is!

All the Low Anthem songs are indescribable!

  • A note to those trying to figure out the meaning: Artists themselves dont even know exactly what they mean when they create.... thats why we are so ambiguous and existential about it all the time. And even if we know...rarely does it ever fully come out..b/c then the door to negating is opened... so

Find your own meaning ; one that is special to you..art is subjective...its supposed to make you think.... thats why its ART :)

  • Love this band - beautiful song

  • My new fav band this week - Low Anthem - haunting. Check out their other songs.

  • how can there be 3 people in the world who dont like this, i always respect people who like other music but HOW IN THE WORLD can you dislike this

i so hope those 3 people accidentally pressed the thumb down

  • If I listened to this while I drove, I'd be lulled into a state of bliss and probably crash, dying with this in my ears and smiling.

  • what intense lyric and beautiful video!!!! marvellous!

  • Saw these guys with The Avett Brothers a couple months ago. They blew me away. Awesome performance. Love this song!

  • Saw them at the park stage at glastonbury 2009 as the baking sun came out, amongst the happiest times of my life

  • I saw them play at a benefit concert at Lupo's last night in providence, and I was completely blown away. There is so much power in their life performances that just cant be captured in a recording.

  • simply stunning

  • Came across this video last week on the night that they were playing a near by club. Bought the album immediately and went to see them live. Wonderful, talented group of musicians. If they don't become famous, it is through no fault of their own.

  • Guy in the boat looks like James Mercer from The Shins

  • love it, saw it on Letterman a few weeks ago, but I had been a fan since last fall

  • And who could heed the words of Charlie Darwin

The lords of war just profit from decay

And trade their childrens promise for the jingle

The way we trade our hard earned time for pay

  • Set the sails I feel the winds astirring

Toward the bright horizon set the way

Cast your reckless dreams upon our Mayflower

Haven from the world and her decay

And who could heed the words of Charlie Darwin

Fighting for a system built to fail

Spooning water from their broken vessels

As far as I can see there is no land

Oh my god, the waters all around us

Oh my god, its all around

  • This is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. Words just can't express it.

  • I think the video is sort've making the point that Darwin's ideas have become so transformative as to be the equivalent of a massive flood, washing away the pre-existing world of thoughts, ideas, and realities.

  • Y'know, to me it almost seems like it's the other way round. Like how Darwin's brilliant ideas are up against this wall of water (implying pre-existing religious doctrine) which is "all around" -

"Oh My God, it's all around..."

They're almost a lament to me from the eyes of a modern day Darwin trying to rescue evolution from the craziness that surrounds it.

"And who could heed the words of Charlie Darwin

Fighting for a system built to fail..."

  • @gigantecrunch

I think it says that when we become extinct, we will have no one to blame but ourselves. Having learned nothing from the implicit warnings of Darwin's teachings.

  • @gigantecrunch i think you just pulled that completely out of ur ass

  • @johnnynitetrain Oho, trying to seem cool, little boy? Please grow up before commenting.

  • What does the viideo mean?

  • Great video, but he songs is achingly beautiful!
