"So you have to ask yourself: Do you want to drive something green and be looked at?"
I really don't get people who buys certain cars because they want to get looked at. Can't wait to show off your wealth and/or green-cred, eh? Well, at least they aren't too bad. Hybrid drivers are helping the automotive industry and it *is* interesting to see a $100,000+ Ferrari/Porsche/Aston-Martin/etc.
Now those guys who are driving torn up, loud 20-year-old sports cars...
i think we shouldn't invest much in "great mileage" in the first place. the reason is simple. more mileage means more remote places becoming easily accessible and people would go out even further out. as history has shown any place human sets feet into, the wild life dies. nature gets polluted.
with fuel such luxury was at least not affordable. now we have to forget those beautiful trees and more roads are gonna be taking their places. with roads come malls and appartments, etc :((
i hate prius drivers. they either tailgate you or drive incredibly slow (probably trying to make the mpg go up on their hybrid drive diagram on the screen)
LOL @ the pointing out of the dozens of Priuses on the road. Only thing they're good for: not being able to brake in time & letting other people eat their insurance.
I agree with Rafdanga that people own the Prius for good reason. Whenever I see the Smart I always wonder how it'll hold up to a crash. Seems like a deathbox.
Actually very well. Go to here to see some very harsh crashes where the smart had remarkably protected the occupants. Especially that one crash at 75mph.
I disagree. Not desperate just different. BTW that's not a good reason to buy either of these cars, People have to start being more proactive and help make a difference. We have to start somewhere.
i see 10 prius' an hour on the road. i've had a smart 5 months and have only seen 2 in those 5 months. i have the first smart in my state. it'll be a while before i "see myself" on the road. we'll have to form a club in illinois for smarts before i see many others. i was at a friend's house today for a graduation party, the prime attraction was "smart rides" (growing up there, i knew the curviest roads and took people out at 25mph over the posted limits) a good time was had by all!
Hi Mrbadx19! I just got me a Smart Cabrio, and I'm a little worried with fuel consumption. the brochure said it could well do 60 MPG, but I can't get it over 45, and that is a lot for a car its size and power How does yours go?
i have a Scan Gauge 2, when the temp is over 50F, i get upper 40's to low 50's in my daily commute (12.2 miles, 24 minutes, avg speed 24mph)
if you can find a long drive at 40-50mph on level ground, you can get 60+mpg, in normal highway driving i get low 50's, but drafting behind semis i can get well over 60mpgs.
Ha, I see nearly 15+ Prius (plural?) on any given day that I drive. I don't know why so many people in Illinois have them but I see Prius more than I see almost any other late model car. And I've already seen 20+ of those new Prius.
I always wanted a Smart Car. But They are totally unsafe

yeah! i am very happy because a i have my own SMART CAR! THEY ALWAYS LOOK AT ME! I FEEL VERY IMPORTANT, SMART CAR IT IS VERY EXCLUSIVE ;)
ABSTRARECORDS 4 months ago
I would not drive a Smart for the very reason, people look at it.
Some will take a stock automobile and customize it, give it that "look".
I want to be known for who I am, not what I drive.
Once the car falls out of style, does the driver as well?

I like to run the prius off the road. It is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
hawkermustang 2 years ago
well the prius also doesnt use a normal car battery right?
i'm just wondering how long is the battery life of the prius?
and how much would a new battery cost?
twistedsting 2 years ago
The battery costs:
$2,500 under factory warranty.
$12,300 expired factory warranty.
And the battery is required to be changed every 100,000 miles which could be considerably less considering your driving style.
