  • A musical genius, also a bit crazy!! A fine line. No one has written rock songs like pete Townsend.I hope we see him on stage again.

  • Pete is a very underrated guitarists.

  • He looks a bit like an owl at the end.

  • Love how at the beginning Pete says "All lies!" and the other guy just doesn't get the joke lol

  • Just as well there were no kids walking out on stage ....

  • I like the spark in his eye at 0:31 :D

  • Epic face in the end: "NOT BORING THOUGH."

  • Wow Pete was high in this interview... like REALLY high but still he manages to speak nothing but raw truth. A truly admirable person.

  • His face at the end. XD

  • thanks for posting this, I haven't seen this interview since I was a kid!!

  • LOL X-D

  • "i'm not this rational person you see here before you..." hahahahahaha!!!!

this must be the last time paxman looked scared while interviewing someone. i'd be scared!

  • he's wasted

  • not gentlemanly to kick someone off the stage

  • He probably thought 32 was too old to rock back when we didn't have bands on world tours at age 80 like we do today.

  • pete was drunk?????

  • @ovelonse

pete was like... always drunk then

  • "desperate old fart now... not boring though"

    hahaha

he really couldnt have given a better answer to that question

  • Anyone who's ever played onstage in an intense performance will understand what Pete is talking about. If anyone gets in the way of the sense of command, watch out.

    Especially cops LOL

  • "NOT BORING, THOUGH." LOL

  • this isthe first interview i found of pete when hes dead sober. HHA

  • This was shot at a flat Pete had in Twickenham. He bought the "The Wick" from Ron Wood later on and still lives there.

  • I live 2 mins from The Wick and sometimes see Pete as I'm driving home from work. I've talked to him once but he wasn't at ease talking to a Scottish person.

  • Because you were Scottish or did he just not understand your accent. I'd hate to think he was a racist being Scottish myself...

  • Hello Gabriel. When you've seen Pete Townshend stagger home drunk, in full highland dress singing 'loch lomand', you know he is not racist against Scottish people. Far from it, he would LOVE to one of us.

Actualy I've never seen him drunk or dressed in a kilt... but I would love to!

He had no problem with me being Scottish but rather was probably just unconfortable talking to someone outside his own house where he expects privacy. I can understand that. Long live The Who.

  • Ah right, that makes more sense. Hehe, I can see him doing that, sounds like Townshend to me.

  • No not at all.I'm Scottish and a massive who/pete fan and had the privilege to meet and hang out with him for a bit a couple of years ago.He also seemed to understand my thick Glasweigen accent ok too.He was Lovely and VERY polite.

  • why did he say that this was only last week

  • OMFG PETE! I love him XD

  • pete has always and will always have that flair about him

  • ahahha this is amazing. (= hes not even old there. "im a desperate old fart now-not boring though" hahah.

  • OMG - this is AMAZING!!!!! Thanks so much for putting this up!!!!!

  • "I'm a desperate old fart now - not boring though!". This is an excellent interview with Pete, cheers for posting it!
