Anyone who's ever played onstage in an intense performance will understand what Pete is talking about. If anyone gets in the way of the sense of command, watch out.
I live 2 mins from The Wick and sometimes see Pete as I'm driving home from work. I've talked to him once but he wasn't at ease talking to a Scottish person.
Hello Gabriel. When you've seen Pete Townshend stagger home drunk, in full highland dress singing 'loch lomand', you know he is not racist against Scottish people. Far from it, he would LOVE to one of us.
Actualy I've never seen him drunk or dressed in a kilt... but I would love to!
He had no problem with me being Scottish but rather was probably just unconfortable talking to someone outside his own house where he expects privacy. I can understand that. Long live The Who.
No not at all.I'm Scottish and a massive who/pete fan and had the privilege to meet and hang out with him for a bit a couple of years ago.He also seemed to understand my thick Glasweigen accent ok too.He was Lovely and VERY polite.
A musical genius, also a bit crazy!! A fine line. No one has written rock songs like pete Townsend.I hope we see him on stage again.

He probably thought 32 was too old to rock back when we didn't have bands on world tours at age 80 like we do today.

This was shot at a flat Pete had in Twickenham. He bought the "The Wick" from Ron Wood later on and still lives there.

Because you were Scottish or did he just not understand your accent. I'd hate to think he was a racist being Scottish myself...

Ah right, that makes more sense. Hehe, I can see him doing that, sounds like Townshend to me.
