is it common practice to continue the vibrato even after the bow has stopped moving? I am very interested because I can see why that would be a very good habit to learn.
wow i love how this sounds... i do have a question though, I had been watching some other Cello vids and all of those sounded deeper like more base i guess, is it all personal preference?
i'm no expert or anything, just curious if it matters if the notes are higher or lower pitch
@Airicks1 Many reasons can cause that, but probably in this case is the microphone of the camera that doesn't record good bass. Another reason may be the acoustics of the room.
This videos are so helpful for we beginners! I'm learning viola, but I usually end up watching your videos as the viola guy goes too fast. :) Thanks ever so much!
Thank you SOOOO much for these videos. We have the suzuki books and the CD and all you can hear on the CD is the PIANO and NEVER the cello. Your videos really help my daughter to listen and see how it is played. Thank you from NW IL!
@stringvideos Hey, I've been playing Viola for 2 years, and this is my 3rd year. I'm pretty good with it by now, and this year I'm starting Cello. I'm not really good at Cello at all yet, but I want to learn Bouree and Gavotte on the Cello, but I'm learning Cello at school, and I don't have an instrument to practice with at home, I can only practice at school. Do you have any advice for me?
@stringvideos Yeah you help me play as well. I have a Suzuki book and I attempted to sight read this, it wasn't very good. But after I watched this video, I started to improve.
Merci monsieur Pricope.
Thanks for your attention to technique in this video. My 12 year old will play this in a recital in a couple weeks. He says he has the song stuck in his head now. Thank you, thank you!
These songs are popular classics featured in many instrumental methods, including Suzuki. They were well known before Suzuki, and will be well known after, and despite being featured in the Suzuki method (which manages to continually misname and mis-appropriate a few of them).
Your videos are very well made. Every aspect of the _demonstration_ you are obviously attempting is perfect. It is a nice change to view a video that is not sloppily filmed under poor light in a cluttered room--I appreciate what you have done.
U r really helpful

Rodier1128 1 year ago
@Rodier1128 Pretty common practice, as the string tends to vibrate after the bow has discontinued contact with it... Experiment, listen, decide... :)

@stringvideos If only I had access to all these instruments to experiment with! I will notate this in the back of my brain for later use :D
