  • @ENMJLJ Really? Quick, get his autograph, because he's a LEGEND! :-)

  • @TheNosferatu1969 i didnt know he was a legend...

  • @ENMJLJ poor bloke... spent years playing the Australian pub circuit with mass popularity and success and now he has to contend with smug little giggly teens like yourself.

  • @nzoz1983 Well... he stills tours in Sydney most nights if you want to watch him...

  • these guys are playing at the woombye pub, australia TONIGHT!

  • Does anyone know where the final part of this clip was filmed where they are getting into the old Holden Special? It looks like a dog track or trotting track. Just curious if anyone recognizes where it is. LOVE THE RADS!

  • @TheNosferatu1969 The Manly Vale Hotel on the Northern Beaches of Sydney...now home units :(

  • @TheNosferatu1969 The Manly Vale Hotel on the Northern Beaches of Sydney...now home units :( Had lots of steps right up to the front door so looks like a grandstand!

  • @bobgibbs151 Hey, thanks for the info! I had been trying to work out where that location was for months and months! (It took me a while to recognize the tunnel at King Cross until I saw the Coke sign at the start of the clip, and I used to live in Potts Point..) It's a shame a lot of those old venues have been demolished and are now gone, such as the Palais Royale up in Newcastle, same for the music and bands, the late 70s and ealry 80s just cannot be beaten. Wish I could go back!!

  • @bobgibbs151 I remember getting knocked down those steps by the bouncers at a Sunny Boys gig.

  • Is this post punk or way before ?

  • @pyromohanzed it's a few years after punk. they're more new wave-aussie pub rock

  • Does anyone know if you this album is still available? I'm from the UK and had a cheap vinyl copy, it's been out of action for about 2 years now and seeing this is giving me withdrawal symptoms :P

  • suck the head, squeeze the tip

  • 1983 a concert for Oddesey House The Party Boys, The Rads and Aussie Crawl as the main act....The Rads blew em away,,,,seen them many times since All Time Aussie Band

  • @nzoz1983 any chance you have a recorded version of Gimme Head?

there aren't any online currently, and it seems you have an amazing collection :D

  • Comment removed

  • @NikkSixx92 I can email it to you dude if you want??

  • @jacksonrevello please do

i'll pm you my email :D

  • First time listening to this band, they're a bit before my time. Looks like they're playing inside Town Hall in Sydney? Good song.

  • hey nzoz, you dont have I wish I was 17 Again do ya?

    /watch?v=6kLbsRHcTKw nice live version here.

  • @truespyfan wow, thanx!!! Much appreciated!!!!

  • This is so cool. I saw the Rads dozens of times at lots of places including the Cronulla Workers, Caringbah Inn, Carmens, The Hordern, and various footy grounds around Sydney. The gig at Lidcombe Oval is the one I remember best, mainly because of the appalling behavior of me and my friends (yes you know who you are!). I've sold the Rads to heaps of English people, as is my duty as an aussie ... and to top it all off I've got a Rads T Shirt ! :-)

  • love the Rads, they always had great music

  • This is an excellent tune. Took awhile to track down a audio copy of it. But it's worth the effort! :)

  • Hey nzoz1983, thanks for uploading all these bewt mnemonics (The Mnemonics).

I've tried to find these to download from torrents etc. I must sheepishly admit, COME ON, I paid, and lost them (pinched) and the tapes stretched and the vinyls warped and the cd's are scratched and my ipod got dropped and silicon chip inside my brain has switched overload

  • @twichizon lol, there's no escaping my channels now :)

  • I bumped into these guys in 1998 in the passport office in Sydney ,I just cracked up got flooded with a lot of memories from the 80,s

  • One of the best, love the RADS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok, now this is a good clip, love them, love them wow mwah

  • Nice little tune - I remember these being the guys and I didn't want to be associated with them and their mullets- they were yobs! lol and played in suburban pubs, where as I was sophisticated and went to see the Huxton Creepers in St Klda!! Pity I was going bald at the same time!!.

  • Marconi Club ,Liverpool Sydney Australia..1985 I think!!!!Saw them with my younger bros & sister...the tin man suit ....heheheh

  • saw them for the last time at beenleigh tavern in december 92 , frikken awesome..... went to the room they were staying at above the gig and they signed my jeans and my mrs outfit in a olace where they said " weve never signed our names here before " lolol, they were cool a;right

  • bankstown oval, early 80s with the angels and the church.

  • Saw them the other night at the greenbank RSL still tight AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to see The Radiators regularly at Bombay Rock in Surfers (who else remembers that place), back when I was well under the legal age to get in. In those days, if you could act like an adult, you'd most likely just be treated like one.

  • @xamesm Loved Bombay Rock went there heaps in the 80's

  • These guys never really got the credit they deserve for their longevity and support for the Australian music industry. I recently saw them play and they are still great, although they no longer look quite the same as they do in this clip!!!

  • Used to dance on tables to the Rads! Oh how things have changed lol

  • learning to play this song... not overly difficult but fun to play

  • my first concert when 17 was supposed to be dragon new yrs eve coolangatta. they broke up and radiators took their place. not dissappointed.

  • Great Aussie Band. I remember seeing these guy play live at Selina's & the Dee Why RSL in the early 80's what memories. ..Im now 39 & still get into a frenzy when I hear this bands music play. thanks for posting

  • Along with ( i wish i was) 17, one touch & comin home, my alltime fav rads song..

  • Saw these guys over and over at the Cronulla workies and Carinbah Inn. Legends among a sea of legends back in the early 80's. Live in England now but come back to utube every Friday for my Aussie 80's bands !

  • i have seen the Radiators every time they toured...long gone are the days when i used to dance on the tables during their concerts lol

  • Saw The Rads at their 30th anniversary gig about 2 weeks ago. Lot of fun. Monster night with Radiators, Screaming Jets, Spy vs Spy, and Dragon. Comedian Chris Franklin (renowned for singing 'Bloke') was entertaining us during band changes.

If we could throw The Angels into the gig, I would have happily died from blissful exhaustion.

  • my fave

  • saw them this time last week, awsome,

  • my older sister was into the Rads big time and I learnt their lyrics at 10 -11years old.. hahah.. parents weren't impressed!

  • I lived in Melbourne (mostly) during the 80's. Trying to decide who to go see on Friday nights was difficult -Rose Tattoo, Angels, Cold Chisel-I got to see 'The Barking Spiders' nah, nah! Um...Jo Jo Zepp, Divinyls, Hoodoo Gurus, Oz Crawl, SpyVSpy, The Church, Mi Sex, The Models, The Goanna Band-(later just Goanna) The Johnnys, Mondo Rock, Sunnyboys, MEO 245, Midnight Oil, Inxs, Jezz the list just goes on and on.

  • We just might have been at some of the same gigs.

  • Very probably. Might even know each other, lol!?! Someone could be talking to their own mother on You-Tube and never know it, lmao!

Hey Eyecandy up there, I'd believe ya! The 80's were frantic! And 'grouse' hahahaha!!!

  • The difference between the music then and the music now is partly due to exposure from international artists. In the 70's and 80's, Australians wrote their own songs - songs that were relevant to Australians, used Australian-made (you know) musical instruments to record those songs in Australian studios, in front of Australian producers, etc. Once more, the covers are produced, designed, made and printed in Australia by Australians. Even the cases (had they had them) were made in Australia.

  • I've always sorta thought that the slow and tragic demise of Mushrooms records had a huge negative impact on Oz music, do you think?

Mushroom would release a single. That never happens now. Back then if your single went well, you might get the chance at an album. But releasing all those singles, I think anyway, gave a lot of exposure to pub bands we'd never hear off otherwise. Maybe not, just a thought.

  • my god man... settle down, your making me wanna cry :'(

So many bands to choose from in the day!!

Anywhere from Revesby Roundhouse, to Coogee Bay, down to Shellharbour Leagues, and upto Central coast and all points inbetween every week!!!! all for $5-15 entry...

Now what is there to choose from :(

Many of the good venues are now pokermachine rooms...

  • Blow up the pokies, hee hee!!!

$3.10cent 3XY concerts in Melbourne were good value too. Everyone played at them. I remember wondering who the hell INXS were, and how would you say it. They had just released that cover version of um...The Loved Ones (?) was it?

  • Are yes those were the days...I remember seeing "Dragon" at Fairfield RSL one week and "Mi Sex" the next. I was even so desperate I snuck in the back door to see "Kids in the Kitchen" at the Waitara Inn one night...Great times!

  • Chris Tagg was the best drummer!

Great style + set up...does anyone know why he left and whats he up to these days, Im sure he used to go to Doonside High.

  • I read years back that it was something to do with direction they were headed..

but they were on a high at the time, who knows.

  • I saw them play at the Blacktown civic center in 78,they were then called The Big Swifty,I have there name tattooed on my leg,I could tell you guys how many times I have seen them but you would not believe me !

  • early 80s= Paddle Pops, Dennis Lillee retiring, first tongue pash, nobody singing Oz Crawl lyrics confidently, Orchy bottle bongs....then the Rads. Fucking timeless. Nice post. Appreciated from overseas.

  • I award you comment of the year....!!!

Orchy bottle bongs? Nobody singing Oz Crawl lyrics confidently? In the year 2009, we still can't sing Oz Crawl lyrics with confidence.

    Thanks James Reyne...LOL

    You are hilarious, carntspell.

    I even love your username.

    Classic stuff.

  • ta. I won`t lie to you, I`d had a few when I typed that. Or someone typed it for me. Did you have any memorable Orchy bong nights? Remember your first pash?

  • Great days werent they!!!!

  • @carntspell

    well said mate... perfect

  • @carntspell true ,true ,made me laugh !

  • I saw them at the ROXY AND MANSFIELD TAVERN in Brisbane in the 80's just a great aussie band

  • Gimme Head & Coming Home were great early 80s' songs for surfers at least ;)

  • Great Aussie Pub band. Same era as Angels,Midnight Oil, Spy V Spy, InXs. Too many good Pub

bands Dont see it any more..Damm shame.

  • Never heard these guys but i like it! Dont know if they got much play in the US. Great melody.

  • cool... i doubt the Rads ever got play in the US. I doubt broadcasters would take their chances on songs like 'Gimme Head' which has became a standard on radio over here in Oz.

  • stupid yanks lol!

  • @nzoz1983 Great Song, especially live, but I'm not sure what radio station you are listening to, but I don't think Gimme Head is a radio standard.

  • @JockRonayne it is on Triple M in Sydney. No joke! It can be heard during the day.

  • @nzoz1983 Also on Classic Rock 95.3 play a bit of The Radiators too.

  • @Neptuneman07 I hardly get a chance to listen to that station... unfortunatley they choose to listen to Nova at my work...

  • @nzoz1983 i feel your pain that suks

  • @connwilliamsmedia no, things have changed a lot at my work... where we are has bad reception, so its now my Ipod that fills the room... everybody has no choice but to listen to my collection of Aussie/Kiwi rock/pop... some they enjoy, others they ignore... it's fine with me!

  • had my 1st bong to while listening 2 this song, best smoke of my life

  • @nzoz1983 Damn Right. They never won the hearts of Radio execs and didn't schmooz with the alberts Family of colour Radio Fame. Subsequently No Airplay. Miraculously the played to packed houses on any given night.

I once saw them at a Brisbane Northside Venue, the manager of which had 'forgotten he'd booked them. They played to 20 people as if we were 2000 people.

    They deserved better..

  • @HENJAM48 they sure did... a nearly forgotten band.

  • @HENJAM48

hey i went to that show - at the HOMESTEAD ?

  • @HENJAM48 Hilarious! I've been to "Forgot we booked 'em!" gigs by bands and damn they're good!

  • remember them at the Playroom Gold Coast !! all those years ago - oh those were the days!! lol:)

  • Remember them well, never saw them play live though. A band I was in in 85/86 used to play 'Gimme Head'.

  • I saw them in the pub.

  • Ah Australia/Sydney back in the early 80's !

1983 - Bankstown sports ground - Angels/Rads/The church. A bottle of bourbon, an orchy bottle and some cut off garden hose.

The Rads were the best, a mate got really smashed, we had to almost carry him home from the train, he kept singing 'I'm a tragedy aahhhh' in between throwing up. Great memories, great band, great song.

I saw them again about 4-5 yrs ago on NYE at Dapto Leagues. Fantastic. They're obviously older but still sound great.

  • @pissOffNRL lol sound like a story lived and relived by every young kid the country over :). To this day I can't stand the smell of Jim Beam because a couple of mates couldn't keep that crap down. Growing up in the 80's was truely awesome I just wish I could go back and do it all over again and not change a single thing.

  • @taipan185 Thats well said...It takes you back,i wasnt quite old enough in the 80s to to that sort of stuff, but was well aware of the what a classic time the 80s were at the time. I was a little late but was living it in the early 90s

I still trip back to the 80s if given 1/2 a chance. ;-)

  • excelente banda excelente tema, saludos desde PERU

  • I saw them at BOMBAY ROCK also would have been around early '86 great stuff!!!!!!!!!

  • I must have seen these guys live at least 100 times. Reminds me of all the old venues. Manzil room at the Cross, Selinas, Family Inn, Comb and Cutter, Carmens, Sweethearts, Stallions, Royal Antler....to name a few. Also remember seeing these guys at Bankstown Paceway circa 1983, it was 4 bands for $1 , yes a buck !!. The Rads, Angels and 2 others, cant remember.

  • What a fucking brilliant song!!!!

  • What a fantastic song! Even these days i don't think you can have a proper party with playing some Rads! Thanks for posting

  • Can`t believe this song is from mid 80s. Could still be a contender in this day and age. In my humble yet 12 beers later opinion. I`m no Molly Meldrum. Or Donny Sutherland for that matter.

  • they still play live,(like molly would say) do yourself a favour & go see them play live.

  • ahhhh can't believe how young they look here!!! luv them...xjoeyx

  • Duh!

  • Where I find the lyrics for this? I've search the whole internet and didn't find it.

  • If you can find the old records the lyrics are on there.Unfortunately they are not on the Cd's.Otherwise you will just have to listen carefully.

    Happy listening.

  • Yep, it`s up to your ears so far.

    Lazy bastards!
