  • I climbed Mt Everest on $ 10.00 a day . Greatest expense was pop tarts with no frosting . Very hard to find in Kentucky . Also hard to find was a foam helmet , had to tie sorgum on my head .

  • @bluheavn7 do your research. yes, the sherpas do a lot of work for commercial climbs. Ed Veisturs is not a commercial climber though. He climbed the 14 mountains over 8000 meters usually with only 1 other partner, maybe sometimes with 2 partners. They would go up and down the mountain for WEEKS putting in fixed ropes, setting up the camps, and acclimatizing, so that they could eventually go up for a summit push.

  • @carmie1818 do you know anything about ed veisturs? He started off his climbing career working 12 hour days on construction sites, and living in windowless basements of people's houses for $50 a month to save money for his expeditions. After countless tries to network with sponsors, he finally got big time companies to sponsor him so that they would pay for his expeditions. He wasnt born into a rich family and then decided to climb. Do your research.

  • @thehuckabee well that's one....listen mr. Itakeyoutubecommentstooseriously, most of the people who climb Mt. Everest are very wealthy people - this is fact - do your own research, I'm too busy to bother with stupid comments based on hurt feelings.

    cheers.

  • @carmie1818 your comment was on this video. you were not commenting on OTHER RICH PEOPLE who climb the mountain who have money. You were commenting on THESE climbers. THESE climbers in THIS video, were not born rich, they worked their ASS off and got climbing sponsors.

    cheers.

  • @thehuckabee you need to calm down and stop yelling.....you'd think, based on your replies, that I personally insulted you with my initial post...if I did , good.

now piss off.....it isn't possible for me to care any less about these climbers, or their personal wealth...or lack there of.

  • @carmie1818 what a joke you are. This is the internet you fool. No you didn't "personally insult" me. You couldn't do it if you tried you loser hahahahahaha.

You're an arm chair wanna be. I actually climb. Keep commenting on youtube videos. You're a real "expert"

  • @carmie1818

P.S. if you care so little about their wealth, why did you make some stupid comment about it? Why did you pretend like you know what you're talking about?

Oh. It's because you are behind your computer screen hiding, pretending to know everything. You know very little.

    Thanks for the chuckle.

  • @thehuckabee it costs a minimum of $30,000 to climb Everest, and as much as $70,000...I believe that quantifies my much earlier sentiment, that these climbers, with the exception of your demigod Veisturs, are wealthy people looking to do something that most people cannot afford....and most of them are extremely wealthy - so accept it...and stop sucking someones dick, just because they managed to climb up a hill...that kind of hero-worshipping is more annoying than these rich dicks.

  • @carmie1818 get to a gym fatty.

Oh. and get a job so you stop complaining about money.

  • @thehuckabee hahahaha....so mature...and predictable.....btw, I took a little gander at one of your videos...I think my grandmother could climb quicker than you - she's 90.

  • @carmie1818 lol this could go on forever.

what that video of mine didn't show is the exposure under where we were climbing. A fall there would result nothing breaking your fall or slowing you down until you hit a cluster of trees about 100 feet below.

Was I being cautious since I wasn't roped up? You bet your ass I was. The rope was next to me, but I was not clipped into it.

Get off your couch loser. You have no credibility.

  • @thehuckabee Hahahahaha....again, you're so predictable.....so much to prove to everyone else...so touchy...your self-esteem issues are on display for all to see....."I wasn't roped up"....hahahahaha...what a tough guy....go pick an on-line scrap with someone else who got one too many "thumbs-up" for your liking, you worthless troll....and don't forget to call them a "fatty", even though in all likelihood, they could probably kick your ass.

  • @carmie1818 LOL tough guy? Did I touch a nerve?

My home is protected by smith & wesson. Want my address?

you wish my self esteem was dependent on you - that would make your internet banter meaningful. You think I really care about you or your opinion? Im just bored and I knew you were wrong with your original post, so I called you on it. Deal with it - you were wrong, and YOU trolled ME for it instead of accepting it.

Let me guess - predictable? You've said that just a few times now.

  • @thehuckabee listen buddy...I took the time to look up this Ed Veisturs, and yes, he worked very hard to get the opportunity to climb Everest...but I still maintain that the vast majority of the climbers who attempt to ascend Everest, are very wealthy people...sorry again if this is upsetting...but there is no need to bring guns into this.

P.S. - I'll even remove my original post...I'm tired of responding to a remark I made more than a year ago.

  • @thehuckabee woooo smith and wesson is so scary

  • @carmie1818 Do you even know one of these people or can you be sure to know the reason why they go there? Mountaineering and climbing has nothing to do with money, it's just about getting up there. If I had the money and the time I would probably climb up to Uhuru Peak or some other kinda easy summit but if i'd be sure to be experienced enough to be able to reach Everests peak i would probably attempt to summit Everest as well. So just because you can't afford it doesn't mean noone should do it.

  • @POwerstation89 I didn't say anything about "not affording it"...don't make assumptions....my assertion was that it takes a lot of money to climb Everest, and the avg Joe can't afford it....and btw, I couldn't care less about climbing mountains...I don't have anything to prove to myself.

  • Sherpas are awesome and certainly the best climbers...no doubt. But that doesn't mean the Westerners are not real climbers. They are. Especially Ed Viesturs...that guy is a total bad ass and he definitely pulls his own weight - without O2. The natives are stronger because they were born there and they live there. But for a guy like Ed Viesturs to do what he has done requires great effort and dedication.

  • @bluheavn7 so those natives over there are basicly stronger thats those americans wiht all thats gear huh, they dont even need the oxygen ??

  • Why use such bit tents, i mean it has been seen many times that tents with any height can be ripped to shredds in the wind storms up everest... why not just use 1 man tents which have less chance of being destroyed! remember, without a decent tent at 22,000ft in a wind storm, ure pretty screwed :/

  • who's the cute chick?

  • canister stoves? You'd think they'd have liquid fuel.

  • @steveo72990 right because has more energy per weight ans more reliable right???

  • @AmericansSexualPreds I was thinking because they work a lot better in cold environments.

  • @steveo72990 lol they know what they're doing.

  • damn they just set up their camp on the hill

  • SCREW

  • How cold does it get on Mt, Everest??

  • your nuts could snap off

  • -20 Celsius to -40 or 50 with wind chill effects, ball park figures of course

  • Yes, the Sherpas are awesome and they do their jobs well. The Climbers that are narrating and filming are doing a different job. Each person is doing what they can.

Each person there has his/her own reason for climbing, and climbing real time they are. ...and to each person this Everest Trek is most definitely real.

Please be respectful of these people they are sharing willingly. They could do otherwise. I am ♥ing that which they are offering. You can too!

  • Please leave judgement out of the comments. 'K' thanks ♥ : ) ♥

  • thank you for your reply however I am at a loss to understand your question "Do people actually let you get away with this kind of crap?" This is youtube ♥ Individuals say/type what they say/type just as you have ♥

I understand 'sponsors' and I am "familiar with the real world". ♥ thank you ♥

I am beginning to understand, though, that your "real world" is quite different from mine. ...and that's ok. Ciao!

  • Indeed I agree "Words have meaning" Thank you for replying it gave an opportunity to re watch this fine video. I've reminded myself : ] that this video is about REAL PEOPLE choosing to challenge themselves and working together RESPECTfully in achieving their common goal.

...and I am ♥ing the fact that they are sharing their experience so lets focus on that ♥'K'♥

    I'm just sayin' : )

  • You got that right bud.

  • Sir Edmund Hillary wished he had a polyurethane Weather Blocker 3000 to wait out a storm in.

  • i can always count on you to say something strange on EVERY national geographic video. congratulations!!

  • Loook 0:08 Nibiru lols

  • Yes, and the same for Olympic athletes.

  • Not in my country...(Canada)

  • I am from the same country bud, and I have news for you. The all the athletes that perform in the Olympics, no matter what country, are rich and come from families with disposable incomes.

  • That is a naive generalization....and as it happens, an incorrect one.

  • the guy at the beginning sounds like clint eastwood.

  • HARDCORE

  • These guys are crazy!!
