@MrImpala03 Yup, it is a bit arbitrary in scale and size made to suit our needs without concentrating on making it a perfect replica. it is about 60% of the length of the actual car and about 45% of the width
@gunnertonpandaman Hey thanks! Glad you like it. We just started a new build a couple months ago, this one is a longer term project and involves a motor! We are going to race Baja 1000 in Class 11 Check out our website at projectbaja you can fill in the dot com part since it won't let me on here
hey whered u get that styrofoam from? my friend and i are making a soap box car but we arent competing so if u could tell us that would be great, thankyou
@canyoncomposites well on projects we have done since then we have simply carved the foam, laid glass over that and done bondo on that to smooth it out. Then we paint it, wax it and pull a female mold off that.
Thanks guys! We tried using Plaster to make our plug. It worked, but I would never use it again for that application. It just wasn't strong enough in a thin layer to work properly
@QuicksilverdotFX Well, we'd probably sand it down at this point, seal the foam then use a thin coat of bondo. We were made aware that using a spray shellack actually seals the foam and protects from the bondo and the bondo is much easier to work with!
the first material there that you went after the mass is Styrofoam or what?

The first material is insulation foam. We fount a pallet of it for very cheap so it was the best way to get started.

@MiKeOxbigx10 We actually used insulation foam that we bought as surplus from a construction company.

What did you end up using?

Really nice job!!!
What is that white stuff you put on the foam??
Greetings from Italy!!

@GiulianoGullini That is plaster, our biggest mistake! Definitely don't use that if you choose to make something like this!

@JoshMcGuckin What would you use instead?
