Great cars for their time. They are 2.0L, right? Just for comaprison, I have a 99 Honda Civic SIR Touring Car racer, stock blue-printed 1600cc engine and my onboard datalog got 0-100kph in 4.9 seconds on street tires. I have a friend that had a beautiful Mark 2 Escort fully converted to WRC-spec for around $50,000+ complete with Cosworth engine. Classic cars to keep forever.

@fordcorsair1500 Wow. I do have the same H22A engine in my Accord which I had rebuilt. You don't need a turbo, really, just add an AEM EMS like mine and you can tune it to add another 20% torque in the mid-range. Turbo will just add 20kg or so if you add the intercooler.

the standard engine takes some revs, but the turbo just scares the sh*t iut of me! Lol

What really is the point of these 2litre 16v turbo units in these Mk2's? Ford made plenty of Sierras with the same engine, surely much easier just to go buy one of those. Then perhaps youred see more std Mk2's how they should be. Always amazes me how some think that by 'converting' a 1.1 base model makes it into something else...it'll only ever be a 1.1 base...
