  • i love the way Hank and Mark have a little boogie between 3.59-4.02.A great performance as usual by the shads

  • totally fantastic

  • The best cover version ever it rocks.

  • Does anyone know if there's a TABS to play that solo from about 2:50 to about 3:30

  • i only see this because of that intro

  • Do not make fun of Booker T & the MG:s

  • I thank it,s the best of all their songs

  • Very good interpretation, but... the keyboard is too flimsy. They should have used a B3 (and a Leslie). It might have been better than the original then.

  • Brilliant.Funny and paying an all time classic at the same time. Only the shadows could do this.

  • cheesy

  • These guys can play instruments !

  • The intro is amazing!

  • brilliant song, magnificent interpretation!.. evidently the shadows were and still are the best!!!

  • Very Funny -- Long time Favorite.....

I wish they had kept the Hammond B3 .... the tone is just so much better ...

    CP2

  • MY favourite!!

  • Love this song and the way the Shads perform is great

  • guitar is still Marvin style ! im in heaven thank you !

  • I'm sorry, I always liked the Shadows very much but when they added that awful keyboard........

  • @lemonite1 hei 1 dont sorry keyboard is Jamming jamming when we go ahead

    whit music okay?

  • You can tell who influenced Mark Knopfler right here :-)

  • simply great !! i was at Forest National concert , never never forget !! simply great

    Willy

  • Who can't agree with ahpollyolly? Not many realize that Hank Marvin, even with his lead tone that is coined as BASIC, has made a GREAT TRAIL BLAZE for many other aspiring guitarists to rise to their own outright fame like Brian May, Jan Akkerman, Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, Ritchie Blackmore, Tommy & Phil Emmanuel, and so many more to name......yeah dig into that SOULFUL INTRO that the band had rearranged!

  • Right behind The Ventures as the BEST !

  • The Shadows were the ultimate in electric guitar music elevating the electric guitar to greater heights. Unique.

A tribute to Booker T and the MG's, with a superior intro, which Booker T and the MG's have adopted in live gigs.

The Shadows made the record into a semi-comedy routine - unusual for them. Not called for.

Time Is Tight - a slower later version of of Otis Redding's I Can't Turn You Loose.

  • These guys influenced so many players over the decades.... Hank is sometimes crtiticised for being 'basic' - but he has such feel and touch and of course brought us in the UK the first Fender Strat (through Cliff) .... Love the end sequence with Hank & Bruce side by side - red Strats ......pure rock n roll ....

  • I lament that that group has never come to present in Brazil.

  • my dad used to have us all listen to this group in the car. I hated then at first but then after a while i found the group to be really good, this was a personal favorite of mine and i hope to see more video of them

  • Its very good

  • great sound

  • Hank's one of Jehovahs Witnesses now, and he lives In Perth WA.

  • it's not his best choice.

  • Which Shads album did this track appear on?

    thx

  • I think it was on their 25th Aniversary Album, I saw them at a club in Winsor and they said it would only be on there

  • Gurdian angle plus

  • thanks

  • Aaaahahahaha! Love to see Hank, always playing about and having such fun!

This one is really funny! Thanks! And thanks Ernst for the tips!

  • WHAT A FUN VID.

  • tanks for these amazing videos

  • Speaking of "The Blues Brothers" movies - Check out Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn (Lead Guitar and Bass) from Booker T. Look familiar? They were both part of the Blues Brothes Band.

  • Don't forget the rest of the Booker T group (who were also the "in house" group/ backing band/sessions musicians,Call them what you will, for Stax Records, ) who also got parts in the Blue Brothers Movie. There was the negro drummer Willie Hall and"Blue" Lou Marini the Saxophone playerWho played the Sax while Aretha Franklin sang"THINK"

I DON'T think Alan "Mr Fabulous" Rubin, who played the Maitre D at the restuarant was part of the Booker T Group, but someone else may know different.

  • the better version of time is tight by the shadows was 1984 get together concert

  • @foesracing39

I think you mean on The Shads live'86

  • THIS, IS AN AWESOME VERSION!!!!

The original by Booker T and the MG's was just too short, but this one takes it so much further, and it's pretty funny too!

  • When I hear this I think 'Blues Brothers'!

  • It was in fact, in the mall chase scene, but in a way different version. Some of Booker T. and the MG's was in the movie!

  • I thought this tune was called Green Onions. No matter, its still great.

  • Love it, remember seeing this live in Manchester in 1990 at the tender age of 7!

  • *****

  • Love this version. Hank is the best guitarist around. You could also check out The Marvingers here on YT - they are a very good Shadows tribute band from Sweden.

    Thanks for posting, Sirpeter1946!

    Annie :D

  • SUPERB.

    IVAN

  • absolutely great performance, harmonically, as point/counterpoint compositional contruction, last but not least, as acting show!; plus the bonus of some ironical nonverbals that reminds of the so much interesting and almost forgoten today shortfilm «Rythms and Greens».

  • @mickjamm

This version is made for fan. This is for comedy moment on tours (but they made great intro to compensate)

  • For years I've been trying to find out the title of this piece. Thank you for uploading. Shadows are fantastic!!

  • Really enjoy this song Love the Shads,

  • Does anyone know the DVD that this clip came from,as I've seen other clips on Youtube that appear to be from the same one and I'd like to buy it.

  • Where are Booker T and the Mg's now Copewood? Still touring to packed houses, and living off the royalties from bands that perform their songs, without nearly the feeling, because, well , they didnt have the talent or soul to WRITE them. Somehow, I cant see Boooker T covering "Dont Cry for me Argentina" in concert.

  • Jesud Christ the size of your stupid comment about those glasses..So what?..

  • Yeah but cum' on, they are REALLY big, he looks like an ant.

  • What about the size of his talent?..

  • this is an awesome version of this song, of which i can replicate on the keyboard and actually won a talent show at 10 yrs old playing this song, soooo awesome. My cousin actually was part of their live in crew when they toured and she said they are really neat guys to hang out with.

  • Man they were one of the all time best instramentalist, 4 stars for uploading

  • sorry lads - i've always loved the shads and always will, but this is just a fill tune, maybe they were short on songs to do! What happened to the Cminor and key change to F?

  • I personally own an identical version of his guitar, from the period. There is nothing in the world like that to play on.

  • I agree - I had an original red Strat back in the 1960s...it was a wonderful guitar to play. I've tried several since but somehow they don't compare.....

  • custer 1968 heard the 'diet version'? Where?

Booker T was serious? Where are they now?

And donnatheresabell must be the queen of crutchpads. Eh?

  • The Shadows can play any style, i mean blues they hardly play and it is like they have always played.

  • The Shadows are absolutely brilliant and i love this video, it's brill

  • great job, like the comady parts

  • I was at the Liverpool Empire when this was recorded and I loved this. It sounded loads better there than here, you're not getting the full effect.

Incidentally this one is done for a laugh not to be taken as seriously as the Booker T one, which I think does sound better than this :)

  • Superb intro. Too bad this version sucks compared to the incredible soulfest of the mg's cover

  • True enough that there's no doubt about Booker T & the MGs' cover (WITH THE REAL B3 ORGAN SOUND man!) but the Shads did an obviously better justice to the song by throwing in a jazz blues intro - KUDOS to Hank and the Boys indeed :D

  • well! heavenly tunes.

  • Yes, funny, and (for me) one of the best moments on that tour. They should play this on Final Tour

  • true but its hard to choose only 42 songs out of more then 700 played songs and a 45 year long career

but time is tight is also one of my favorites

and i truly too would have had it at final tour seen

  • it's funny
