you can play it on your computer.... just download kawaks emulator and the rom from coolroms or somwhere similar... plug in a 360 wired controller into the computer and set the button config... youll be playing in less than 15 minutes... well worth it regardless of how you get it going. even if i didnt have a cab i would emulate this shit on anything. remember the cps2 hardware isnt strong so any computer should run this within the last 3-4 years or so...
holy shit that game looks sick. Gonna have to fire up the ol mame cab later and add this game to my fav's. I feel ashamed for not knowing about it hah.
well youre the guy that made this video worth it. my goal was to show someone a game they never heard of.... im glad it was you flynnz this game deserves more recognition. fire up the good ol mame cab and get this running... dont be ashamed there so many games i jut heard about recently that i never knew of. its what this hobby is all about bro... game on
as it dam well should be haha.... they are the only company that keeps the shmup fans happy on a regualr basis these days... i find so much joy in their bullet patterns and their soundtracks are amazing.... some soundtracks go for as much as their games lol.
honestly im far from a fan of the 360.... i know cave made alot of shmups for them but i dont own any of them but deathsmiles... i just have something against the 360... i own an elite and 2 regular systems and dont play any of them... i wish they were for the ps3 lol... something about the unreliability of the 360's makes me never wanna hook them up...
Well it doesn't look like Cave is interested in releasing PS3 games. I really wish they did since it doesn't have this region lock bullshit. Otherwise I would have a PS3 by now.
dude!!!! you got this coming in the mail... i remember seeing one on ebay last week is that the one you scooped up! this game is super pricey.... but well worth every penny.... make sure when you get it you change the battery or get it phoenixed... dont wanna chance it ever dieing on you bro. im personally not a huge fan of deathsmiles actually. i find it decent but on the bottom of my cave list. donpachi and espgaluda are my favs other than progear of course.
@dankss Yeah it's a conversion from another CPS2 game though so wasn't massively expensive. Every bit as good as an original though ^_^
Deathsmiles sort of grew on me, I think I rate it because it's one of the only ones I can get to the last boss on with one credit haha Yeah Espgaluda is up there, the second one almost makes the original redundant though, check it out if you can!
@dankss Only Espgaluda and Dai Ou Jou through Arika. There were plans to release Ketsui but it was too much for the system to handle apparently.. I call bullshit but whatever, it's overrated anyway IMHO. If your a Cave fan you should grab a Jap 360, all their latest games are on there (almost all of them actually) and Pink Sweets/Muchi Pork are coming out in Spring!
i just dont get the same satisfaction as playing them on an arcade... but i guess that goes for any game really.... plus im not willing to rotate the monitor in my cabinet to have to switch it back to play my horizontals... i think i may just get a jap 360 for the cave collection... those games arent cheap man... but they def hold their value for the most part.
@dankss Yeah that's why I have one machine in tate and the other in hori :) God know what I'm going to do with the Naomi, I want to play Ikaruga but I like my spine too much to pick up that monitor again! -_^
Yeah seems Cave stuff is like Apple stuff, holds it's value way past anything released at the same time even with the relatively small fanbase. Oh well! Could always get a JTAG'd 360 ^_^
well my plan with ikaruga is simple.... you can the orientation in the test menu to horizontal then you just need to manually change the controls.... im thinking of making a switch that will change the sticks.... of course the picture wont be fullscreen but its better than rotating for one game.... i just dont have the balls to rotate the monitor... especially the hi res monitor that is worth as much as i paid for the whole arcade... my naomi is hi res only so no 15k on it....
@dankss Yeah same here, 31k only and it's a heavy bugger. Much more so than my other 29 inchers. Never knew you could rotate Ikaruga in the setup though, interesting.
I think I'd get eye cancer if I had to play it in hori though.. x_x
@dankss Me too. I want to keep my JTAG'd 360 in the Astro for shmups and stick another in the Naomi at some point for SSFIV, though thinking about it, it'd be easier to just shove my PS3 in there and play online too. Then I could just use a JVS-PAC for the controls and a VGA cable etc.. hmm.
the jvs pac is nice but very expensive... i already own a cthulu board so ill probly just use that and a vga adapter if or when i decide to run my ps3 in my naomi... but with the mame already in there i dont really see a reason to put a ps3 in mine. im not a huge fan of sf4 and i already got my mvc2 naomi running. i do like ggpo for the pc which allows me to play third strike online in my naomi... i have a vid of that on my old cab you should check it out.
@dankss GGPO is something I've been meaning to sort out for ages. I might have to take a look, online 3rd Strike would be all kinds of win. For everyone else no doubt ^_^
its real easy to set up man... i could walk you through it and we could play some matches together. it supports a lot of games.... garou, mvc1, third strike, alpha etc... you gotta go into your router setting and allow it access then some minor networking configuring.... ill be kicking your ass in no time haha.... always a pleasure chatting with you man.
Haha! I loved your comment when you essentially stated that "If you can't appreciate CAVE shmups, then I don't understand your interest in me." That had me rollin'!
Holy shit. I'm feelin' Progear.

Kind of an oddball game for Cave considering this is a horizontal shmup. Looks beautiful and plays great!

Good to see the Cave love too man, love me some Progear but DOJ BL has got to be my fave Cave game, closely followed by DS -_^
