  • This lacks soul.

  • @Saxyman14, Just Toshiko Akiyoshi, Paula Cole, Melissa Ethridge, Diana Krall, Patty Larkin, Aimee Mann, and Esperanza Spalding to name a few.

  • Why not the guitarrist improvise?

  • I'll be watching for these guys in the upcoming years.

  • so this might be the best drummer ive ever seen at a 5 week...and his name is kush? ur my new favorite person

  • justin bieber in the trumpet

  • Drummer FTW

  • Really poor camera work at 4:00 when the pianist does his solo. Could have planned the layout better.

  • tree palmedo is really good

  • Is it just me or does the bass player look a little like Blake Griffin (NBA)?

  • holy shit, really fuckin amazing, drummer is sick, it would have been so much cooler if they had ended it on those 2 hits though instead of the chord at the end. Still really awesome.

  • Whack wow

  • Whack wow

  • I really like this take on "Giant Steps". All of these guys are brilliant musicians (several from my area too).

I made a composition for my quartet that Merged "So What", "Afro Blue", and "Impressions" sort of in ode to this type of song modification.

I hope I can play in this ensemble before I am too old (probably not this year, but I may have a chance next year). The Berklee 5-Week Program is really great and exposes a plethora of excellent musicians.

  • boy these guys are really great. who is the drummer.. he's awesome!

  • These kids sound just great...but how on earth did they mic a Steinway piano to make it sound just like a Casio keyboard???

  • Damn! This is actually pretty good! Wow!

  • is the bass playing double time, or just in general whats the feel/how is this counted? thanks

  • @bareftjacky in the beginning the hits go 1 (3)+ 4 (1)+ 3 (4)e and then repeat (parenthesis are to show where the +s and e's fall. So (3)+ means the and of three, etc.) Then they switch into double time and play the original giant steps progression.

  • Please explain!

  • I wanted to go to berklee before but now I'm definatly going!!!

    these guys are sick!

  • luv that trumpet boy!

  • This is a very interesting arrangement of Giant Steps.

  • Great if a bit nervous. Shame they didnt satnd aside for the piano solo and where are the girls?

  • Girls don't exist at Berklee

  • Total bull shit. Esperanza Spalding went there, and she was the bass teacher there by age 20.

  • Hey, nice job pickin' up on the sarcasm....

(Did you get it that time?)

Anyway, the ratio of guys to girls here is pretty terrible. 6:1 or something like that, which is a huge improvement on previous years.

  • that might be the only thing bad about berklee, not enough girls to go around :(

  • There may not be a lot of girls at berklee.... but they get around.

  • Plus, That's why we have Northeastern.

  • @Saxyman14 Hiromi Uehara
