how I view Iron & Wine is Indie Folk. He has some songs that are more folky than others, and some that can't really be classified very well. Though his music contains a lot of folk resemblances it's not like classic folk, which is what I imagine when someone says folk. I imagine Sam Beam in the direct middle of the two. For the most part at least, but that's just my opinion.

i was at the folk festival too and sam beam closed the show. what an awesome performer.. AMAZING. he even put ben gibbard from death cab to shame. Excellent show. Check out the Po girls they were there also and put on a great show too.

my dad jut saw him live at the ann arbor folk festival. he was on a date (parents are divorced) he said he was really good. I listen to like 60s &70s rock and folk-rock like neil young. I'm 14 and I am very happy that good music is coming out today. I just need to look around to find artists like this. I struck a gold mine with Iron & Wine.
