im thinking of trying wakeboarding it looks pretty cool but how common is it to catch an edge or have a bad fall like that. I snowboard a little Im not a beginner but not REALLY good. Is it harder than snowboarding because your bouncing around a little bit more cus of waves and stuff?

Hey Goodcharlotterocks13 - if you are comfortable snowboarding, you should be fine wakeboarding. Just start off at a slower speed - like 16 MPH, and this will not happen to you, even if you happen to catch an edge. In general, snowboard crashes are much harder than wakeboard crashes when you're just learning. Good luck!

@Goodcharlotterocks13 i think snowboarding is actually harder. it's a lot easier to catch an edge boarding because the snow is uneven or different densities whereas the water is quite smooth. the best time to go boarding would be during a calm period so the chance of "catching an edge" is really up to your skill level. falls hurt a lot less than snowboarding and once you get the hang of it, i find it's much more forgiving to be on water than snow.

@Goodcharlotterocks13 well if u start off at 16 mph ya u will go slower but the wakes will be bigger i started off at like 20-25 and i think thats a good speed to start with so if ur worryed about geting bounced around go a lil faster to the wakes are slower good luck bro

I just did this exact same thing yesterday....it really hurts...hit so hard i bruised my eyelid...slight concussion, couldn't remember what happened. Keep the rope low, knees bent and lean back!....atleast that is what will be going through my mind next time i try!
