Anyway, yes, I was a bit long-winded, but I kept coming back to explain that I was suddenly finding out more and more about the band, and Devin in particular. No apologies for what I said previously -- my words about players of this style having some merit simply prove true. I need to stick to what I very recently told a friend: I'm not assuming the worst about a player based on a particular project or style. John5 of Manson and Jay-Z's drummer are examples.

I just listened to this again, and I will sincerely say that this is actually decent -- for what it is. Yes, I qualify things. I've found that if the vocalist's output is intelligible in these ultra-aggressive styles -- which is almost never the case -- the lyrics are sometimes profound. Still, this genre, for the most part? Seizure-inducing. 'Stuff' of this ilk makes me want to beat a nun to death with a newborn devil-child and hang her freshly excised, untainted uterus from some ghetto bling.

What baffles me is that so many guys playing in this limited style are actually rather competent. Why this?
