I was telling my 17 year old daughter a few days ago that I remember taking a train home from school in Manhattan back in the early '80's. These guys got on and started 'harmonizing' a song with the words "Let Me Love You" in the lyrics and songs of other artists. I was sitting right across from them trying to study. A man walked past them and they 'asked' him for money, but he ignored them and got off the train. A few months later, I heard them on the radio...The Force MD's.
I'm Shakin' My Head, In DisBelief...That These Remainin' Cats Aren't All Over The Place, DAMN How Long Paul McCartney Been In The Picture? Elton John? Stevie D Is Still Smoothe 20Something Years Later!!!!, I DEMAND A REVIVAL....Start Off At The PARADISE In Da Bronx.....Everybody's Comin' Up There....
I'm literally in tears right now.......I honestly did not know them bortheres had passed.....I would give anything 2 be able 2 relive that momnet of time.....the 80's were the best......
Awwww, my deepest sympathy to the group, friends and families....I knew about Mercury's passing, but I didn't know T.C. passed on. The legends need to come back to the surface.....this bubblegum they are putting out is pure garbage. The stuff from back in the day was 100% talent...no auto tunes, because they could REALLY sing and carry their own. To this day, I still rock the FORCE MD'S. I love you guys....
Yo I was talking to a lady who said that she was the force MD's mother, like almost 3 years ago. We talked for along time.. she told me about the passing of her sons but she seemed to have a really nice attitude and spirit... I wanted 2 talk to her 4ever... right here in philadelphia...
i didn't know that three members had died either until a week ago, that is so sad they have been died about 12 years and i didn't know were was i .i love the force md's they are one of my favorited groups. is jessie still alive the light skinned one.someone let me know please.
@victoriaflowers35 The force are still doing thier thing and Jessie D is alive and still can steal a show they was on Monique's show and brought the house down.True talent never dies.
Please bring the group back! We are craving good music! Tender love was the first song that I learned to play on the piano.
I know that it will be difficult to find the talent that you had again.. However, there is alot of talent out there that is waiting to be discovered. Please bring music back again. You guys were the greatest R&B group. Mobile, Alabama 93 WBLX
Hi guys! So great to see you on here. I was one of the "fly-girls" back in 1988 when Jessie D. was going "solo." I so miss the Doo-wop of the better days.
Early in my music career, I had the pleasure of working with Mercury and TC of the Force MDs. There never was 2 nicer brothers. It breaks my heart that they are no longer here, but these cats were the greatest!
I like to give a shout to the force mc's Md's. I remember they did a show at the fun house in NYC with my brothers Divine Sounds. Yeah the whole crew was cool...down to earth. Rest in peace mercury.he was my man.
I remember the first time I heard the Force MC's back in the early early 80's. My brother came home from NYC with a tape of a jam they went to down there. We didn't take that tape out for 3 months. We knew something new was happening. "Young ladies, please! Listen to what we're sayin! We're the Force MC's and we're on the microphone!"
Listen can you say KISS FM Cleanups in Jersey back in the day... Man We do need a movie about all of these guys...Something a lil diffrent from Wildstyle or Beat Street as those joints were great they did not expose everybody..The Force M.C.s inspired all of us to rock those type of routines and listen to a lot more music...Does anyboby know what time it is?? It's one O'clock two O'clock ask dr.rock no it's three O'clock four O'clock ask dr. rock(some body finish it up) Peace..
IF I EVER COME ACROSS SOME SERIOUS MONEY I WOLD LIKE ...to make a movie about ...THE FORCE M'CEES.....this is a great story for HIP- HOP!!!! i'm sure somebody is going to STEAL THIS AWAY FROM ME...
long live the force...MCEES!!!!...what I love about this group no one has ever COPIED there style.....it was unique I was 12 or 13 when they was underground I would love to cop there old hip-hop stuff not the love ballads....made some kids off the ballads tho...peace
Tragedy struck the group three times with the passing of three of its members: Charles "Mercury" Nelson suffered a fatal heart attack in 1995, Antoine "TCD" Lundy died of Lou Gehrig's disease in 1998 and DJ Dr. Rock died under unknown circumstances.
Thanks for that. I am so glad they look and sound so good. I can not help but cry a little for the others that have gone ahead and joined the maker. Hope that they know they touched everyone from my hometown in florida to those up here in the Chi. Long live their great music to some well deserving guys! big up We love ya always.
Does anyone know what year this was made? I'm glad to see them looking good and in good spirits. You know when you haven't heard from someone in a while you wonder how they're doing, if they fell off or if they are still living a decent life. But looks like they been doing good. And why does it seem like the good ones always leave us too soon?
I remember seeing Stevie D and Mercury at Broadway International on numerous occasions. This was prior to their record deal. After the release of their first album, my friends and I saw Dr. Rock and The Force MD's perform at different dance halls across the city. Harlem World, Roseland, etc. Then on tour with New Edition. What a bunch of talented brothers.
I am from Marinors Harbor also.Went to Ps 44 and I.S 72 in the 80`s.50 Roxbury st.Peace to all those who remember harbor day, back then and the good times.
I'd missed all 5 of the members while living in Mariners Harbor Projects. I grew up just away the street (124 Brabant St) I 1st remember like it was yesterday that they started singing on the Staten Island Ferry to the crowd and people was giving them money to help get studio time. When I'd moved to Virginia in 1986, I 1st heard their music on the radio. I was shocked but so happy that someone I'd knew personal made it out the Harbor. Even before Wu-Tang Clan, there was The Force MD's
wow they are funny- the michael jackson imitation-lol. That's bittersweet going doing memory lane I didn't realize so many fo them passed away already.
I'm from Mariners Harbor Projects and I grew up with them living on 124 Brabant St. I rememer all 5 was singing on the Staten Island Ferry and making a quick buck while singing to a crowd. Those was the day.. Missed them since I'd moved to Virginia
if you rode the ferry and were lucky enough to see the FMD's perform...it was a real treat, and that acapella was off the chain! And I used to love when passengers were getting off and didn't contribute to the bucket, the Force would start singing embarassing songs about them...my fav was "cheapskate" done to the tune of J5's dancing machine! Force MD's forever man!
Oh Man...I remember you guys from Port Richmond H.S. I graduated in 81, and you guys used to rock the lunch room mic sometimes. I cant believe TC passed away (he used to make fun of my glasses back in school) Jan 21,1998. I gave birth to my 2nd daughter that day....what great memories of those guys.
I hear these guy's still tour.Oldies but goodies shows.Though many are now gone.Everybody in the family can sang.I hear there's another family member who fills in for T.C.and does the songs justice too:^)
I used to stay up late to hear Dr.Rock and the force mc's on new yourks (Then) Whbi.I Recorded when Jessie sung Billie Jean.He sounded just like Michael Jackson.
I used to play "Let Me Love You" so much in college that my friend Larry, who lived next door came in my room to just hide the record. Wish I could see a video for that. I still love that song. What happened that most of the group has passed away?
Antoine "TC' Lundy passed away in 1998 from Lou Gehrig's disease. Charles "Mercury" Nelson paassed away from a heart attack in 1995. I don't know what happened to Dr. Rock. To the best of my knowledge, Jessie Lee Daniels is still alive
Man u guys r talented. Kids these days need to listen to ur music so they can see what talent is. Todays artist cant compare to the 80's musicians. They cant sing all they wanna do is dance. Every dance they do they got it from Micheal Jackson. I think we need to bring back dat old school. Troop, Force MD, Alexander O Neal, Glenn Close, Atlantic Starr.
I agree with you whole heartedly. Today's artist just don't measure up to the artist from the 80's. As far as I'm concerned, the 80's was the last great era for R & B music.
