@ted2758 LOL!! Well it's not funny cuz I burned alittle over a half tank that day. That was also at the peak of the gas fiasco so that cost me about $59!!!
@Whitecrackertrash you are a pos you know that well know u do and i dont waist money cars that you have to give a arm and a leg for plus this truck or USV will last you longer and is cheaper to maintenance how do i know cuz i do my own work on it by cleaning the intake changing oils and checking it. if you had your pos BMW you can do non of that why cuz you have to take it to the dealer and pay a arm and a leg so so go ahead and waist your money just dont come crying to me or your momma when.
agreed. doesnt even look like anything passed 100mph'ish providing this durango has 3.92's like most did, at 3grand locked up in O/D ( which it would be at this speed even wide open) it would be around 102mph.
@99Dakota Most D's come stock with 3.55's, the RT and 5.9's come with 3.92's.
My D is a 5.2L with 3.55's a HT III power programer, custom ram air intake, AR TB spacer, summit racing ignition system, 3.5in DynoMax exhaust system and a bunch of other stuff.
With the tune my shift points and RPM's are way off norm
i have 99 2wd durango lowerd and mini tube with a carb 440 ..its fun to race ppl in 5.0 ,camaro, imports,i took it to the local drag and got a 11.56 out of it.not bad for a SUV!
Its a great car! but only if you take care of it. That can be said about any car tho. When it comes to the Durango Vs an Explorer the durango wins in every way but the explorer get better MPG.
Some Durango's have ball joint problems but some of the explorers have had probs with engine fires.
As long as you take care of you truck no matter what brand it should run for a long time. My durango in this video has 140k on it! now it has 160K and still kick'n
Gearing makes a difference, too. Some have the 3.92 axle ratio and are pretty quick, though top speed would be lower. The 3.55 axle ratio is standard. (Not sure what gets you the 3.92 ratio, though -- I used to think that the towing package automatically means 3.92 ratio, but it doesn't. I have a Limited Hemi AWD with towing package and it still has 3.55. Maybe the 3.92 ratio is a separate checkbox...)
7? I've read stuff like 10.5 and seen 9.4......... I'm just wondering because there are some dumbasses at my school who think their durangos are the fastest things in the world
Lol, one kid is so dumb and i believe he has a SLT model. Probably a SLT 5.2 or 4.7L and he said he went 145 LOL!!!! When he did a 0-60 test it took like 9 seconds at the least because I watched the speedometer and counted normally. But there is no way its a 5.9L and deff not an R/T.
Oh yeah, everything is stock. With at least 100K miles on it. But i have to disagree with you about the 7 sec accel. His is so slow, once the speedo hits 70 its takes like a minute to get to 85 lol.
I mean don't get me wrong, with a 5.2L V8 you will get some tq squeezed in there because of the size. Have they ever thought about making a Durango SRT-8 or SRT-10? I know tyhe Jeep SRT-8 is quite underrated from what I hear haha, pretty quick due to the AWD which has like no drvetrain loss at all in starts.
wow nice, mine hits 115mph really quick, i got TB Spacer, Cold air intake, Thrush glasspack "straight pipe", gibson tip, and headers, do i need to power program it to get past 115?? cause it sure would be nice lol
yeah they are limited to 115 from the factory so a Power programer is needed.. You can git on from super-chips or hyper-tech for around $300. I got the H/T for $220 off ebay.. So far its the best mod i have done adding the most HP (around 30-35hp with mods) you should git that and a 180o stat if you live in a hot area like me git the 160o for the summer and the 180o for the winter months.
you have some good mods already with the glasspacks and headers you might be loosing some low-end TQ tho
look into a bigger throttle body so you git more air coming into the engine and some 3.90 gears or 4.11's if you want a drag suv.. then git the Power programer you should be pushing what i do around 300hp and 400lb ft at the crank. It will make you love your D even more but i will warn you with the Programer keep you foot out of it (unless your racing lol) or you wont make it to the next gas station lmao!!
Yeah it has a TB spacer, ram air intake, single 3' in/out dynomax catback system, summit racing 8mm spark plug wires with cap & rotor, 180o stat , optima redtop, III hypertech power programer... Its kinda fast i guess for an suv. I have beat a sentra v-spec, ls integras, but not bad for a 10 year old truck with over 140,000 on the od & the original drive train
I just went to kreagen and orderd it or go to summit if you want it fast.. Cost about $85 for the Poweraid model its the best choice stay away from the cheap on's they do nothing for you.. you can git everything i have for about $850.
Blew the 5.9L in my durango doin that exact thing lol

I've seen 128 and that is NOT 128.

nah he aint going that fast you can tell by how fast hes not passing those other cars lol.
corderpounder99 2 years ago
@corderpounder99 128mph is not fast and the other cars are going 70-75. Its 101S known for speeders
I have another vid shot the same morning of me and a few other cars crusin at 100-105mph.
If I wana go fast i'll drive my other car it tops out at 155mph thats good enough for me
RAMSRT500 2 years ago
you cant fool me! your speedo's jacked. there's no way you could be going 128 and only spinnin 3k rpm
dfrhodes 2 years ago
My truck has a Hypertech Power Programmer III. I added 200RPM to the rev limiter so my truck hits its top speed in mid 4th gear (3300rpm)
If I could take the governor off the truck would prob hit 140mph
RAMSRT500 2 years ago

Nice!! The 440 swap is what alot of guys have now. Im gunna stick with my classic 318 tho Lol.
I'll be getting it back in a few months, it will get a top end rebuild and a few other things. It should run in the low 14's.
I put most of my money into my TL-S now so no swap for me

How quick and how fast does a stock 2000 Durango SLT go? (0-60 time and top speed)
acetheheretic 3 years ago
Idk anymore its not fast tho something like 7sec. 0-60 and mid-high 16's 1/4..
They have a few engines to choose from so the numbers may differ.
Dump 5k into it and it will run mid-low 13's
RAMSRT500 3 years ago
7? I've read stuff like 10.5 and seen 9.4......... I'm just wondering because there are some dumbasses at my school who think their durangos are the fastest things in the world
acetheheretic 3 years ago
Right off the lot my 5.2L SLT would hit 60mph in about 7sec...
If the kids at your school have stock durango's they arent fast.
With some light mods they are faster than most trucks and suv's but will get beat by a car with good power.
What models do they have SLT 5.9L, SLT 5.2L, SLT 4.7L, or the RT 5.9L??
RAMSRT500 3 years ago
Lol, one kid is so dumb and i believe he has a SLT model. Probably a SLT 5.2 or 4.7L and he said he went 145 LOL!!!! When he did a 0-60 test it took like 9 seconds at the least because I watched the speedometer and counted normally. But there is no way its a 5.9L and deff not an R/T.
acetheheretic 3 years ago
Only if he replaced the CPU.. I have the hypertech power programer its what most buy. You can only tune to 128mph for safety reasons of course..
Even with my mods it would be hard to get to 145mph the gears just arent their.
Are they stock? Do they sound stock?
RAMSRT500 3 years ago
Oh yeah, everything is stock. With at least 100K miles on it. But i have to disagree with you about the 7 sec accel. His is so slow, once the speedo hits 70 its takes like a minute to get to 85 lol.
acetheheretic 3 years ago
7sec brand new not with 100k..
I run about a mid 7sec 0-60 now even with $800 in mods but I also have 156k on the OD and a 10 year old drive train..
Stock the weak spot of the Durango is about 65mph-85mph. Its all in the gears they just fall flat
The Durango feels fast cuz it has alot of torque 305lb (that was alot for 99 lol) but you need some good mods to make it fast
RAMSRT500 3 years ago
I mean don't get me wrong, with a 5.2L V8 you will get some tq squeezed in there because of the size. Have they ever thought about making a Durango SRT-8 or SRT-10? if its the 5.9 its 8 sec 0-60 and mid 16s in the 1/4. mine now does 13.4 in the 1/4 but thats around $4k in it
2001durango 3 years ago
lol thanks, ya i can tell i lost some low end torque with the cai
clarda1 3 years ago
No prob.. Its mainly the headers, with the stock T/B and intake manifold the headers robb you of some torque.. Its the only reason i havent got a set.
I did a small tune up last week and even with over 150k on it i was still doing burnouts up and down the street lol.
RAMSRT500 3 years ago
wow nice, mine hits 115mph really quick, i got TB Spacer, Cold air intake, Thrush glasspack "straight pipe", gibson tip, and headers, do i need to power program it to get past 115?? cause it sure would be nice lol
