  • @ ilkmz44

It's called the "changing your mind" move.

  • Very well done managing time on the end. She realised too late your time was nearly running out.

  • Sorry for sounding like a noob at chess...but what was that one move she did what she tilted the king then moved it two space??

  • @ilkmz44 There was castling involved early on in the game which you may have seen. Or it may have just been her changing her mind.

  • Seemed a little desperate of her... she didn't resign until it was mate in 1. I kinda wish she would have coughed and scattered the pieces all over the floor :P

  • Hey if he hit the clock before he moves? LOL

  • This was a great game from fireuponthe earth's side. Nevertheless I don't understand the respectless comments of some users here. It was a Blitz game and she wanted to force a victory in a position in which she should have been fighting for a draw. Great game from his side congrats to that, but some comments here about her abilities are ridiculous.

  • It's no big deal that he beat a woman GM. The mens chess game is light years ahead of the womens game.

  • well played

  • I hate playing with a clock...its too damn pression!

  • not bad for a girl

  • Get that woman outta hereeeeeeee!

  • Wait so who the fuck won?

  • @greg672

The person who posted the video (he beat the GM which is why this is a relatively big deal).

  • Пешку прозевала. Вроде как = ?

  • I play a grandmaster all the time at my chess club, still loose xD

  • When playing do you have to have your arms in like that or can you hover one hand over the clock ?

  • @1Deejay7 The general rule is you're supposed to hit the clock and move the pieces with the same hand.

  • @fireupontheearth this wasnt really a good game for susan she was playing passive and you were more of the aggresor i went over the game on my chess board lol congrats on beating a GM i saw the comment about you getting beat by teens when you were 21 how did you manage to become better and this is kinda out of topic but i was wondering do you have to pay to join a chess club?? cause im thinking of joining one

  • @phillyshell94 Some clubs require dues, some don't. As far as improving at chess, what seemed to work best for me was studying lots of tactics. Get a book like "1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations" and just pound it. For a while I was doing tactics problems for an hour or two a day. Besides that I'd say just play a lot, especially against stronger players. Study your games and try to understand your mistakes.

  • @fireupontheearth Such as the same unwritten rule that you keep your hands off the pool table when someone else is shooting

  • @1Deejay7

I got a warning from the arbiter for using both hands in a tournament game. I was in time trouble. Good thing I only got a warning. XD

  • Amazing blitz game and against a GM. I wouldn't be surprised if you became master yourself. (In ELO rating of course )

  • wait a minute....u are 1650 ELO and u basically kicked Susan Polgar`s ass? She is a living legend dude! Congrats!

  • I just seen the whole french napoleonic saga in that game lol.

  • Love it; good job. I like how you started the vid where you did. The first few moves set me up to believe you were about to be crushed. Your tentative move taken slowly followed by her blazing response. By 45 seconds into the video it's obvious that you could be in some time trouble. Super recovery, well done!

  • Nice game. She seems humble and gracious in defeat, unlike other players of her rank.

  • grandmaster proud punished or was she in need for a win? that's looks like a easy draw

  • Agreed. That bishop of opposite color endgame just from a glance is a draw. Black shouldn't need to push the h-pawn, just keep the king on f6 and move bishop on dark squares on the c5, b4, and a3 squares. Black can even let white take the d2 passed pawn and just stick the bishop on c5 and put the pawn on a5 and go back and forth. easy draw

  • @elrondes1 yeah, simple technique.Even after h6 there is no reason to allow c5 and bring the white king into action. Her idea after Ba5 was probably to follow it with Bb6+ and Bf2 forcing simplifications on the kingside. She clearly overlooked c5

  • tripod

  • Which pieces are those if you don't mind me asking?

  • so are you a chess master yourself this is quite impressive the polgar ladies are not easy opponents that is for sure

  • great job !! congrats man !

  • f6 seemed to be the killer! nice that his king is shut out!! awesome stuff dude

  • now thats a scalp :) nicely done!

  • I know it was a speed game but could you recall the whole game and post it? I had to ask!

  • @invisaman75 Done! I added the notation for the whole game in the video description.

  • @fireupontheearth Maybe Susan could have drawn the game if she would keep bishop b4 or c5 but she blunder with 47. ... Ba5? As soon she left the a3 f8 diagonal whites pawn to c5 is winning. Even if her bishop stayed on b4 (only hope) your king side majority should help you win. I think you missed chance to shut bishop out b4 with a3 and possible winning the d2 pawn. Great game and I know not to pay speed chess with you! :)

  • @fireupontheearth man! what a trooper!

  • @fireupontheearth Thanks!

  • After watching Susan's life story here on some youtube post, I almost wanted to give up. I didn't start at a single digit age. You give us 'commoners' hope. Perhaps I'll linger with the game a while longer. Thanks . . . and GOOD job!.

  • @gliderrider I was in the same boat as you. I was 21 when I played my first tournament and walked away with four losses and a draw, and that was in the U1200 section. Three of those games were against pre-teen kids! Would've been easy to quit right there, but I stuck with it and am glad for doing so. You can become a decent (by amateur standards) player at any age with the right effort.

  • @fireupontheearth So true. Magnus Carlsen drawed with Garry Kasparov when he was only 13. Which is crazy because Garry Kasparov was like 40 or so.

  • @gliderrider All it takes is hard work.... honestly, you could sit down at the chess board and any given day play at grandmaster level. It's all about your thought process, proper analysis of the position will grant you several candidate moves and from those candidate moves you can deduct which probable move your opponent will make and then be able to decide which of the candidate moves is the best, and if several then play the one which suits your style. Study endgames constantly.

  • @theuppro ===> Said by many a chessplayer who gave up before reaching 2000 or 2100.

  • Very impressive. You should show notation for this.

  • People don't understand. GM like Susan Polgar should DESTROY anyone rated under 2000 (USCF)! Damn sweet that you beat her is a speed chess game AND got it on tape!

I lost to Korchnoi back in 1983 during a similar event as yours. I was rated in the 1800s. Thanks for posting!

  • So there's more than one Polgar? Is Susan as good as Judith?

  • @bmg0079 No

  • nicely done

  • did she blunder? how did you get such a good ending??

really nice grind! a bit cheap of her to keep on playing with a queen disadvantage, trying to win on time...

  • You played well for the duration of this video. I wasn't there but I am suspecting she may have been going a bit easy?

Either way, nice moves to walk your pawn to the end. I took some mental notes lol.

  • blitz games are easier then classic

  • @TheAidik But they are shorter. MUCH shorter. And that is why they're awesome. (Though, I personally like the computer view so I can pause and easily see what's goin' on.)

  • I have a question. My ELO is 1534. That's what my Computer (Shredder) says after 40 games. What do you think is my "real" ELO? 1300?

  • @Leutwein Probably in the 11-1400 range. 1300 is a good estimate.

  • 1:26 Ba5 ? followed by c5!! the winning continuation. instead..kg6 and she may have drawn. good on ya for seeing the win.

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck you didnt even win....

  • @NaturesSneakySavaage Yes he did. What do you mean?

  • @moviecritic6 Like they didnt finish the game.. the horrible baddie Grandmaster just saw the end and was too prideful to actually let it come so she tried to shake his hand before the checkmate in hopes that it would be a less degrading lose.

  • @NaturesSneakySavaage Uh, that's how most games end these days. 9/10 in every grandmaster game, the losing opponent will resign when they are close to being checkmated. It's considered polite, and it doesn't matter because you win either way.

  • @moviecritic6 No, its called quiting like a bitch and not being a sport. Its trying to not give your opponent the satisfacation of putting you in checkmate. I dont give a fuck what most of them do, I also dont care how good they are, people let their egos get in the way of sportsmanship.

  • @NaturesSneakySavaage I'm guessing that you didn't see where I stated that it was considered polite.

  • @NaturesSneakySavaage She should have let herself get checkmated in this case as it was a friendly to a much lesser ranked opponent. Typical of a Polgar sister to weasel her way out of it. I just saw another video where Sofia Polgar was rude to Korchnoi. I think it must run in the family.

  • A 1650 beating a GM is pretty big deal, even in a blitz game. Mind you, you should not get hung up on numbers. All a rating is, is a measure of past performance. When you sit down with someone all that matters is the moves on the board. Never let a number beat your or allow yourself to intimidated by someone's reputation. Just keep pounding out good moves and the wins will come.

  • @Nickalispicalis Very well said!

  • @Nickalispicalis wise comment

  • @Nickalispicalis I imagine that your are a very good sport and a really nice person to play chess [or any board-games] with. I'm a novice [at chess] and these rankings can just make a person feel so 'unworthy' at times. What you just wrote is inspiring and I think I'll hang a truncated version of it above my Chess board. I don't know if it will help, but it certainly can't hurt!

    b/b)O(

  • Well played!

  • It goes to show even the greatest chess players can be beaten. Susan is so far out of his leage it can be looked at as a fluke. I've beaten several people that were out of my pay grade but I didn't take it seriously. It's just a thrill of a lifetime not likely to be repeated. Playing someone a thousand points above you and winning, yeah, be happy that you got lucky.

  • You played very well! Her position was, I think, lost at the beginning of the video and you kept control so I'm surprised you were graded so low at the time! Were you playing odds or on equal terms? To "hacksign": she played on because she was hoping to win on time which is part of blitz and she wasn't so far off!

  • You played very well! It was instructive how you used passed pawns (the key to such an opposite-colored bishop endgame), and dominated her bishop. I must say she played unimpressively, but a Grandmaster as strong as she is will always play at a decent level - way above the average, especially at blitz, which calls for intuition and experience. Bravo!

  • susan isnt that strong in blitz. way more then the average but still

  • wtf is this shit, clearly she knows that she lost, all grandmasters shoulda resigned once ur double pawn passed the edge.

  • her briliant brain is defeated muahahaha yeay =D

  • Yeay,you beat her grrr Yeay =D

  • The scariest part about playing a blitz game over-the-board is that I'm afraid I will miss a check on the king and look like an idiot.

  • Who was the male player?

  • @renumeratedfrog John Settere

  • OMG!! i was like whats is going to happen... you won!!! Great job men!!!

  • One more thing- Why would you sac your bishop for one pawn when white has about 3 more on the board?

  • Great job

  • Congrats !

  • scary fast game

  • ahhh damn wut a bad move at the end

  • Mate, let me make that clear. You are around 1800 and you have beaten the greatest female chess player of all time which is now something around 2600+ ? :)

  • @BizarreWorks rofl!

  • dood guys he just beat a grandmaster at blitz...it doesn't matter except that if this was used as a tiebreaker he was just ranked above her

  • ok i'm a big noob but when she shook hands she wasn't in check mate? so i take it she gave up? but he only had 10seconds to go couldn't she have stalled it?

  • @kelevra8686 She would be checkmated in next move and both players knew it. That's why she resigned

  • @kelevra8686 next move was checkmate and she couldnt do anything about it

  • grats on the win! i like how she turned down the three fold rep only to lose and was still stalling at the end. great win for you

  • Congratulations! Great game you won

  • I love how the description is like... "Uh, this is just a random game I played with a grandmaster when she was checking out the neighborhood.." You should say your rating is like 1400 or something in the description. That would be funny. What is your rating? Please do share?

  • congratz on beating a grand master

  • Comment removed

  • so she turned down the 3 fold repitition.

  • Dude I read what you wrote about your previous comment, never doubt yourself! You beat a WGM you should be proud, i know i would

  • that was good technique

  • That was really close. Good game.

  • God job buddy! I loved that game very much! :)

  • Well, she is just a woman after all.

  • hello, I'm just a chess amateur, but now I admire you!!

  • lol some grandmaster...

  • I do miss the keys quite a lot when writing... but you can figure it out anyway, can't oyu?

  • Sure was neith if you had under 1700 and won against S.Polgar. Though, your probably under ranked like I!? Because I don't think that anyone who plays like a 1700 player should have any chans at winning over her. But it's quite fun to play against good players when you have 3-400ranking points under your real strength. People can get so pissed off when they lose then, and they probanly feel a bit cheated.

  • Grandmaster ?

    Grandmaster of what ?

  • grandmaster of losing a game against a amateur

  • well done. With 13 seconds to go you are chasing her King.

  • Hmm ... I always thought not resigning in such a position would be unpolite ... but obviously not for the grandmaster and not if the opponent has just 30sec left on the clock ;)

  • Dang, a B-player thoroughly beating a GM at blitz ? Nicely done!

  • Your rating is only 1800 and you beat susan polgar?!?! You are going to be like the next world champion!!

  • Did she cry after she lost?

  • LOL! It's funny to see how disrespectful she is, knowing you are an amateur. She is obviously trying to win on time a Bishop and Queen down. Major props for this one though, you're a true beast.

  • Well played.

  • You played incredibly well. Bravo!

  • this is a VEEERY interesting video indeed.

did polgar blunder? how did you manage to get an opposite colored bishop endgame, with her having 4 isolated pawns and 1 extra pawn? i bet she miscalculated that her pawn could queen, no?

could you send me the score sheet, if you have it? =)

im just very curious, because sir:

    you beat GM!!!

  • @chrism216 because everyone takes notation on blitz games

  • @mrjorgem

well, maybe they put it together after the game....

    i dont know...

    WITH THE VIDEO?

  • @chrism216 right, right because the video shows the whole game

  • What is your rating?

  • @Prometheus666333 At the time of this game it was about 1650 (USCF). It's around 1800 now.

  • @fireupontheearth how the hell did you beat SUSAN POLGAR with a rating of 1650?????

thats like a FIDE master beating Anand.

  • @fireupontheearth lol thats impressive sheesh.

  • @fireupontheearth ¿Te dio ventaja de reina o algo así?

  • Pra mim eles são muito lentos!

  • Nice job!!

  • u bribed her

  • Great game. Polgar is a very strong chess player. People, please stop making statements like "In a fulltime game would you..." It was a blitz. For BOTH. This guy played better. Period. But it is true that there are people than can process position calculations really incredibly fast and they don't have the power to look deeper than 8 moves. This kind of players , usually play incredible blitz games. That's the meaning of Blitz after all.

  • @fireupontheearth

    Congratulations! Very well played.

  • Bravo!! With 11 seconds left I'd still be struggling to force the win :)

  • white wins because next move white moves ith his queen infrunt on his king

  • I have a feeling she let herself get overconfident... you can tell in her body language early in the game that she was a bit cocky (I don't blame her... she's a friggin Polgar!) What's your rating? and what was her rating at the time?

  • It pains me to see my sweetheart loose. But, he played a good game.

"Mistakes are there too be made."

  • Wow! That's impressive!

Kudos to you Fireupontheearth! Incredible! :D

  • If you don't mind me asking what opening did you play against her as white here and what defense did she play? Was just curious, thanks!

  • susan!!

  • Congratulations!

  • well played and well done for keeping your cool

    what is your grading?

  • must be a great feeling to beat a grandmaster :)

  • wow that was great are you a GM? when she moved the bishop all the way to A4 l know that you were winning no way she can stop the pawns with just bishop. I see you were down in time but did recover quite well.. great game!!

  • Wow who is that guy? He just dominated susan.

  • bait men schoo?l

  • MY GOD!!! it takes me 15-20 min to plan a move... TOTALLY AWSOME!!!!

  • How the F did she lose that.

  • ella es susan polgar una campeona con categoria chees master aparte a jugado contra karpov kasparo boby fischer y anad tiene todo lo merecido para ser una campeona pero no siempre se puede ganar el sujeto q le a ganado juega de una manera muy habil

  • CaraBrimleyRules. This is not Judit Polgar no8 in the world, this is her sister, simly a grandmaster. The guy she plays is of equivalent level and this is a blitz game - its not surprise and no reason to attack women.

It is true that chess is a game that is worked better by men due to their brain functioning (nothing to do with smarter or less smarter... its the way we think, men brains are a bit autistic and this aids in such activities).

  • But there are a lot of women whose brain is more male (and men whose brain is quite female-like) - nothing to do with homosexuality of course, talking only about the way it calculates.

The question is more on statistics. For every 10 boys playing chess there is only 1 girl that will play. Combine this with the lesser importance that is given on female chess and add the fact that many men refuse to pay to women on championships and women are left to play 1 good against 10 average ones...

  • wow a couple of seconds from losing althogh the winning position. Exiting!

  • I'm so glad that Susan Polgar lost this game! :)

  • its amazing that as good as you guys are..you still think a bit on some moves that seem clear...like when you moved your bishop back to D1 to prevent the pawn promotion..really no other move that i saw..yet you took a few seconds..now where you thinking about some combination 5 moves down the line..or where you just making sure that was the right move...anyhow...

  • not checkmate but she surrender

  • well next move it was either queen to c7 d7 or e7, and then checkmate, no matter what she did (of course king to c8, would have been queen to c7 mate, queen stayed their, would have been queen to d7..so on...

  • Polgar owned again.

If women were any good they would be challenging for the world (open title). They can't use the excuse that women can't focus on chess properly because of their roles in life. The Polgars have done nothing their entire lives except play chess and they are still not anywhere near the level required to become open world champion.

  • haha big day of ur life

    good game

  • stale mate?

  • @kelrore84 naw that was a win

  • no...she is free to move her king as well as her black pawn on a5...its just he is going to mate her on the next move no matter what she does. of course in a speed game you do play through for hope that time pressue will cause even a grandmaster to stalemate (or his clock runs out...)

  • @kelrore84 mate in 1

  • Blitz sympa!

  • i would've won

  • Black won right???

  • are you serious?

  • @tharock220 OH NO! susan lost by resining she had no choice the guy promoted and it was a mate in one.

  • Perhaps Susan should have taken the draw (by threefold repetition) that White implicitly offered her around 1:10. Material is even, the bishops are of opposite colors, and White has blockaded Black's passed pawn--a draw seems a logical result.

Susan may have felt that her clock advantage and (probably) higher rating justified her playing for a win.

Does anyone know who the guy is?

  • I don't know. Both players are far better than me. :(

  • I want to go out with her.

  • bravoooooooo

  • amazing, great job, congratulations!

  • you played well man. good job

  • Maybe she went into the game believing she was going to beat him; pride comes before a fall. hence her loss. lesson perhaps?

  • was it stalemate???

  • @sealoforicalchoas no she resigned because she was going to get mated very soon (although it was obvious she was going to lose like 15 turns before or w/e)

  • she resigned

  • ordinary man off the street beats female grandmaster in not one, but two games of chess. men really are better than women at literally everything.

  • @MaggieTemptationEyes what about cooking and cleaning? and pole dancing? forgot about those eh?

  • @zach100590

the best chefs are male. the average woman rarely learns to cook these days. i agree on the other two. cleaning waste and performing sex acts are a woman's advantage.
