  • why is it so short from boston and so long from nyc

  • If you read the comments below, the trains get combined in Albany NY and the P42's stay on the train and carry it the rest of the way to chicago

  • How come they run this as a shuttle now, instead of combining the trains at Albany like they used to?

  • Avtually 449/448 are now joined once again with 49/48 at Albany, the Boston Section is no longer a Stub Shuttle train, that section is now conjoined with the Main New York Section at Albany therefore eliminating the cross-platform transfer at Albany enabling for a one seat ride from BOS all the way to CHI

  • I also notice a few strange things, first, it comes out of the Old Colony Tracks, not tracks 1-6 and also, the Cafe Car is not Amfleet II, it's an AF I instead, they should have an AFII or a Heritage Dinette, and all Coaches should be AF II not AF I, even though this is just a Shuttle train only to ALB, all customers must get off and cross to the other side of the platform to 49 west, and they can get their sleeping accomodations upon meeteing the train at Albany

  • This train usually comes out on track 11

  • Kwl I saw the same exact train at Palmer on that day!

  • Sweet!

  • how come no viewliners.I think amtrak Switch the consist and took the viewliners out

  • This is train 449, it only runs Boston to Albany. You then would switch to 49 which runs New York to Chicago and it has the viewliners.

  • now there are viewliners on both sections.

  • Fantastic Video!!!!! What P-42 Genesis was that?

  • read the side, its clearly visible, 105

  • Oh ya.

  • Cool! I got to o to South Station, Boston Now!

  • good! This leaves SS daily at noon time

  • MAYBE I CAN CATCH IT TO ALBANY

  • Nice, I've always wanted to see this train when I go to SS because it is one of the only Amtraks with a diesel.

  • Actually, MOST Amtraks have a diesel, its just one of the only ones with a diesel on the NEC.

  • Sorry, should have clarified, that's what I meant.

  • its not on the nec taechincally

  • Yeah, that's true, but it is the only diesel out of South Station.

  • true, its the only AMTRAK diesal

  • Actually the Pennsylvanian (NYP-PIT) gets their diesel put on at philly so you are technically wrong.

  • Cool video. You don't usually get Lake Shores.

  • NICE! 5***** You should join my Amtrak group and post your videos there also!
