  • Damn.... That fucker would wake the dead!!! Great stuff!!!

  • @mrminh8

In general I do not think KCL03 is safe in rockets. It does have real nice power and sound though.

  • my first successful whistle motor earlier. it only my third try too!

i used 70/30 KClO4/Benzoatethe first motor didnt whistle, as i did not press it with nearly enough force. the second motor was pressed too hard, and swelled the tube, so it cad an impressive cato. the third was perfect, i made a clamp with pvc pipe and i used it to keep my tube from swelling/splitting.

a very successful flight. ill make an upload soon. ill send you a freind invite and sub so i can share it.

    -best regards

  • @TheBombBros

Congrats! Glad to hear you had success! I really like 70/30 because it's a very forgiving fuel. Benze isn't the best whistle fuel, but when it works it has a cool raspy sound. Looking forward to seeing it, send the invite.

  • @cplmac2 ill sub and send a request as soon as i type this message.

i wanted to buy salicylate, but benzoate was alot cheaper. i only bought 1lb. but

i wasnt planning on making any rockets with a I.D. larger than 1".

and i make my perchlorates and chlorates so those are free. so im set for a while on construction! thanks for your support!

  • @cplmac2 i really like yours rockets,in particular the 3 stage rocket!!!.I wish i was good like you in pyrotechnics!

  • @cplmac2 i've just started making whistle motors with kclo/benzoate (70/30) and the sound is really raspy. What's the difference if i add 1% Fe2o3 to the mix?.I've uploaded a test video on my channel.Watch it if you want. You're a great rocket maker man!!!

  • @Mnemotron2010

It won't make a big difference but it should be noticeable. Might take some of the raspy sound out, and give the motor a little more power.

  • @cplmac2 thank you, next time i'll try with Fe2O3.Man, is it obligatory to add vaseline to the mix or can i try making a rocket with the dry mix?

  • @Mnemotron2010

You should use it, it slows the fuel a bit and makes it easier to get the spindle off without damaging your fuel grain. I don't know that I would say it's mandatory, but I've used it EVERY time.

  • nice! is benzoate sor salicylate safer?

  • Really the fuel doesn't matter too much for sensitivity, it's the oxidizer that can be dangerous. Perchlorate is MUCH safer than Chlorate in pretty much any formula, particularly whistle and flash formulas.

  • @cplmac2 i was aware of that. i always try to be careful and gentle with chlorates. i much prefer perchlorates. its good that the types of fuel dont differ too much

  • does it work good with perchlorate and sodium ben.? and how do u actauly make it wistle? do u just make a small nozzle? lol srry i have lots of questions. :P

  • Perch/Benze is a cool formula, it has a raspy sound. It's definitely a safer formula than this one, chlorate is pretty sensitive in whistle formulas. The fuel itself whistles, the nozzle doesn't have much affect on the sound unless it's too deep in which case it can cause the sound to cancel itself out.

  • Do you prefer sodium benzoate or sodium salicylate for your whistle mix?

  • Salicylate.

  • perch and sodium bezo, 70/30, how much would i need to get a long lift like that?

  • You would want a longer delay, which doesn't really add much to the lift just the burn time.

  • Did you ramm it or use a press?

  • Press, I cannot recommend strongly enough the importance of NOT ramming whistle, particularly chlorate whistle.

  • Sounds and looks verry cool

What kind of report did you used, I gues whistle mix to?

  • I use flash for the report.

  • perfect,excelent

  • it sounds like a jet engine on a plane

  • No friction or impact test from me, but I know of a couple that have been done and the sensitivity is greater than standard perch based whistle and is more powerful than standard. The mix included red iron oxide and vaseline, I just didn't include them in the overall formula.

  • I've been playing around with 70/30 (perc/sal) dry mix on smaller rockets and had some really good results.

course I use small quatities in working container.

  • another question.. you posted 70/30. so no binder or catalyst?

  • Did you do any friction or impact tests on that fuel? Just curious as to how stable it is.

  • No problem, what was your whistle formula?

  • hey, I see that you understand how to make your rockets whistle. I recently made some whistle mix and pressed it in a 3/4 inch tube with a press. It burned consistantly but didn't whistle. I need some help.

  • it tells u on pyroguide dot com

  • It's hard to say. My guage was defective. I didn't know that until last week when I had to replace it. I was pressing at about 10,000 PSI on the old guage, so probably somewhere around 4000 actual.

  • Whistle rockets are cool!

cplmac2, how much do you press your rockets?

  • wow thats gotta be one of the sexiest rocket motors ive ever seen/heard. and a really loud report.

  • Nice job.
