First of all; there wasn’t any communist party in Afghanistan (the party name was PDPA, Peoples democratic party of Afghanistan, they party never claimed they were communist, but they were against Islamic extremists).

Second , the soviet union didn’t invade Afghanistan, they had a lots of military Bases on time in Afghanistan , like USA has military Bases in Saudi Arabia , turkey
