Many white people have a good face structure to play these characters, and it would bring so much more publicity and make this movie big.
Okay first of all, no, not all the characters in avatar are asian. This is NOT an all-asian movie. It was made by two white people for god's sake. And, many of these people would do well if they were cast by people who weren't asian! I'm sure Firelord Ozai, Zuko, Ty Lee, Azula, they would all do well to be cast by white people, as long as they get their hair dyed black or something of that sort. It's based on a world that is wholly East and South ASIAN and the look of the characters, customs, names, food, clothing, hell even the music reflects that. The casting of this movie has only been an issue for the last couple of months because the producers are looking like they are really trying to go forward with an all white cast meanwhile casting Asians in the roles of extras. The person cast in the role shouldn't have to get a tan or fashioning themselves to look like something they're not when there are Asian people who can play the roles.
But thats the thing. Most poeple do see that the show is Asian-rooted, but it still doesnt always occour to them that that means all of the characters in that WHOLE WORLD are Asian. When I watch it, I see styles of thing that do look Asian, but it takes place in a completely different universe. Who ever said that ALL of the people in the show HAVE to be ASIAN. It's more than obvious that all of the people are of Asian decent and for them to not even acknowledge that by casting not one main character as such is just a slap in the face to Asians. Not everyone in the show Avatar is Asian. While it is based solely on Asian culture, you can't assume everyone is Asian it just isn't correct. The avatar world is like our world, people from different places look different. Europeans look different from Asians. That's how it works.

Well my belief is that you gotta read between the lines with the news for Zuko. With the other three they phrased it as they "asked" them to play the roles. With Jessie, it said they were "talking" about it. My guess is that Jessie is the one who came to them, and asked for the role. Honestly, it's not M Nights style to get actors like that. I can't imagine him even considering Jessie for Zuko (especially since he's M Night's favorite character).

Actually the funny thing is that I agree with you. This video was supposed to be just for fun and all, and I hoped they would get Asians for most of (if not all) the cas (at least Zuko and Iroh). Well the funny part of that is that they've already begun official casting, and it seems to be all caucasian people that they're considering. But Jim Broadbent and Liam Neeson (and possibly Jeremy Irons) are the only two (or 3) that I'm passionate enough about to hope them to be in the movie. I can totally see Jeremy Irons as Piandao, but I don't really agree with the rest. Freddie Highmore is a great actor for his age, but Aang's character is so much more bouncy and kid-like. Freddie's roles are always so serious.

You do know it wasn't Nick's decision to make this movie. The Avatar Universe has alot of cool old guy characters, so the likes of Neeson, Irons and McKellen would actually fit in very well. The likes of Gary Oldman and Jack Nicholson would actually fit in as well. Nicholson would be an awesome Iroh.

Yes, I think I did know he played Aang in the pilot. But the reason I had him in this video is because I have never seen him in anything before, and a friend who was helping me make this video suggested it, so I just went with it. Now that he (the friend who was helping me) has seen the video, he denies that he ever suggested it and says it is a stupid cast idea. So yes...I can't really argue that Mitchel Musso doesn't really work in this vid.
Well Zuko HAS to be Aisian (in my opinion). And I couldn't think of any good Asian actors whatsoever (except for Dante Basco, and it would be stupid to "suggest" someone who already plays the character). For Azula and Toph I just never got around to thinking of anybody, cause I wasn't gonna do the full cast. Not everyone in the show Avatar is Asian. While it is based solely on Asian culture, you can't assume everyone is Asian it just isn't correct. The avatar world is like our world, people from different places look different. Europeans look different from Asians. That's how it works.

Well my belief is that you gotta read between the lines with the news for Zuko. With the other three they phrased it as they "asked" them to play the roles. With Jessie, it said they were "talking" about it. My guess is that Jessie is the one who came to them, and asked for the role. Honestly, it's not M Nights style to get actors like that. I can't imagine him even considering Jessie for Zuko (especially since he's M Night's favorite character).

Actually the funny thing is that I agree with you. This video was supposed to be just for fun and all, and I hoped they would get Asians for most of (if not all) the cas (at least Zuko and Iroh). Well the funny part of that is that they've already begun official casting, and it seems to be all caucasian people that they're considering. At least the guy who they asked to play Sokka actually looks like him, aside from his lack of tan (which can easily be fixed).

But Jim Broadbent and Liam Neeson (and possibly Jeremy Irons) are the only two (or 3) that I'm passionate enough about to hope them to be in the movie. I can totally see Jeremy Irons as Piandao, but I don't really agree with the rest. Freddie Highmore is a great actor for his age, but Aang's character is so much more bouncy and kid-like. Freddie's roles are always so serious.

You do know it wasn't Nick's decision to make this movie. It was all M Night Shyamalan, who, being a huge fan of the show decided to put his talents to a new chalenge (he normally makes sci-fi/fantasy thrillers). So the difference is that Danny Phantom doesn't have any fans that are renown filmmakers.

The Avatar Universe has alot of cool old guy characters, so the likes of Neeson, Irons and McKellen would actually fit in very well. The likes of Gary Oldman and Jack Nicholson would actually fit in as well. Nicholson would be an awesome Iroh.

I have no ideas for the first two but I think Hugo Weaving would be a better choice for Ozi. He can make a great villain, and he looks the part.

Yes, I think I did know he played Aang in the pilot. But the reason I had him in this video is because I have never seen him in anything before, and a friend who was helping me make this video suggested it, so I just went with it. Now that he (the friend who was helping me) has seen the video, he denies that he ever suggested it and says it is a stupid cast idea. So yes...I can't really argue that Mitchel Musso doesn't really work in this vid.

Well Zuko HAS to be Aisian (in my opinion). And I couldn't think of any good Asian actors whatsoever (except for Dante Basco, and it would be stupid to "suggest" someone who already plays the character). For Azula and Toph I just never got around to thinking of anybody, cause I wasn't gonna do the full cast. I was only going to do the ones that popped into my head when I came up with the idea of making this vid, which is another reason why most of these suggestions purposely suck.ItWasAllOnAWim.

Yeah, especialy because of "all-star cast" thing, I wouldn't even want this cast in the real movie, cause I don't want to see a familar face in a live-action Avatar movie (it would ruin the illusion of the characters being brought to life). So basically this "imaginary cast" is just for fun, and like you said, a lot of the suggestions make sense. But I still wouldn't want them in the real movie (except for Liam Neeson and Jim Broadbent). So I'm really glad M Night's getting new actors ForTheFilm
