Hi, nice slideshow, I sailed on board HNLMS Witte de With during STANAVFORLANT, great cruise and good memories and visited your ship a couple of times those months.
My dad was the captain of the Portuguese Frigate, F482 Roberto Ivens, and he appears on min. 1,29. We went to the cocktail reception at the American destroyer with Tom, the captain, if I´m not mistaken.
Yep. That's the guy. I stood on the bridge talking to him for 10-15 minutes about Wyoming stuff and when he left, BM1 Cryer said "Do you know who that is?" So, I learned something that day. He was on board when the Greenpeace guys dropped their anchor on the lock hardware and held us up for many hours.
As you can appreciate, I didn't have pictures of everyone. This was the 1980's and digital camera's weren't exactly commonplace. Most of the pictures were of the Boatswain's Mates as that was my rate. I still had quite a few other people and am sorry your uncle was not in there as he was a pretty cool guy.
Being in the Navy was a lot more fun out at sea.Inport wasn't always so much.

Some politician (2:46) if memory serves was Dick Cheney. Note the Wyoming Cowboys emblem on the left chest.
Awesome video

OMG - Is this true? You mean I've had a picture of me next to the Vice President all these years and didn't even realize it? No kidding?
