Yes, I agree guys. Please don't expose your kids to that language. Please don't be mad at me for observing that but I can't help but think your child is learning those nasty words. Wish I had you around to tell off a regular customer of mine. A grown man (35ish) that still wears a doo-rag and an OJ Simpson jersey. He never hesitates to put a fat zero on the tip line.
On last year's election day, just as Obama was officially the winner, he ordered pizza and our black driver delivered to him. First thing the guy said when he opened the door was "CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!" and then still wrote a zero on the tip line like nothing happened.

BeatUmDown, U remind so much of this girl that used to work at the restaurant I work at. I praise you for keeping it real! People thing our job is easy the think "all ya'll do is carry plates and drinks. They don't know what it's like to work in the service industry and have to work long hours (8 to 12 hrs. straight) on your feet with no breaks, and have'n to put up with peoples bullshit attitudes all day and then have to support our families with the money. you need to be fired and your place of employement sued if you did anything to the food. If she came into your restaurant she doesn't HAVE to pay a damn thing to you in tips. Tips are complimentary and the restaurant should make that clear. If different then they should say tips are mandatory. Anything other than mandatory , then all she has to do is pay for the food. Discrepancy with money is between you & your cheap ass employer. If you don't like not getting tip, get another job.

I don't know if "complimentary" is the right word. I think "optional" is what you're thinking of. Because everybody knows that you're expected to tip when you go out to a nice establishment. It's common knowledge. So if you're expected to tip, then it's no longer "optional". It would be mandatory, in a sense, but they're not going to enforce it. Like they're not gonna get the tip police after you if you don't tip.

my friend you've just explained 'Complimentary'. Mandatory means I would be entailed to pay the tip. Complimentary works better than optional because you're talking about a 'Grace & Attitude' type job. Tipping someone is complimentary on the job they're already supposed to do. I recently went to a famous museum that had a cafeteria and more upscale cafe with wine candlelight etc. I asked the clerk in the cafeteria what % you have to tip in the cafe. She said you tip whatever you want.Right

Perhaps you should eat in a restaurant where waiters and waitresses are paid an hourly rate vs. tips. Do you really think I'm going to refill your drink 5 times and get your extra dressing and napkins if I will get paid the same amount regardless. NO! Think about it... a tip is what keeps people motivated. Obviously if someone is dealing w/ a party of 15 ppl vs. someone w/ a table of 3- they shouldn't get paid the same because they're probably doing different amounts of work. Hence the tip!
