  • Oceanic Whitetip sharks are considered one of the most dangerous sharks in the ocean. They don't attack near beaches because they are an open water shark and mostly attack people in the open sea after shipwrecks and air crashes. The most natorious event involving white tip sharks was the 1945 torpedoing of the USS Indianapolis when 800 saliors were eaten by sharks. Lucky for you this one wasn't hungry :)

  • What that your heart monitor flatlining as it got closer?

Dear God that creature looks as close to a Great White as you can find.

  • i woulda have crapped my pants if it got that close to me!

  • um, seriously, where in st. john was that??

  • the smaller fish feed off the bacteria, bits off the shark, they clean up parasites

  • uh....where at st. john was that actually??

  • why do the small ones swim next to it?

  • That's an Oceanic White tip, there's no such fish as an Oceanic grey Tip. The smaller fish swimming with it are pilot fish.

  • not sure there's such a thing as an oceanic grey tip.

Either way you are a very lucky person to have that encounter.

  • I love it how sharks have their own little 'fish entourage'!
