Holy Cremolli- This looks delish! Thanks the great directions, the recipe and the amazing post. Mmmmmm... I'm gonna "steal" my parents dehydrator and get right on this.
Oh and wondering one more thing... Does the sauce on the meat not bother the dehydrator by dripping down in it, i thought mayeb id have to pat the meat dry with a papertowel first?
@Kayleebob hahaha knew u were from the maritimes somewhere, lol, cool good to know, i actually have some in marinade right now.... oh and mine isnt beef, its moose ;) NL :) thnx for the info :) was a great help!
You need to pat-dry the strips before you dry it. Leaving all that excess on the jerky doesn't make it tastier! The whole point of the marinade it to break the beef down and absorb into the meat - after 24 hrs, the meat can't even take any more flavour, so the extra sauce is only doubling your drying time! You're not adding flavour - you're just doubling the drying time and maybe making it more sticky. Let it marinate for 24, pat the jerky dry, and test it! Same taste, less moisture, quick dry!
You 2 are the funniest couple. i didnt really wanna make beef jerky, just wanted a laugh, which i did :) I gotta say i love the way u say arse lol. please say it more!
So have the butcher cut it up into steaks basically. Oh never mind now I see how you are cutting it. Can you do it in the oven? Oh that stuff looks SO good.
@HeyThatsMike I'm pretty sure it's possible in the oven, would probably just have to Google it! And it IS so good, haha. It was gone in about 24 hours. =X We're fatties.

love the random santa beard moment the dehidrater cooks the meat ithought it only took the moisture out of it
karenmvinson11 1 year ago
@karenmvinson11 It does just take the moisture out, actually. It uses a low amount of heat and air to do just that!

hahaha. Love the Santa beard.
That's what she said, is awesome!
The jerky looks good! I will definitely have to try it. I don't have a dehydrator, but I think the oven on a low temp will work as well.

@Cashis4life Yep, the oven should work fine - I'd just google to check on temperature and length of time and all that.

mina247 1 year ago
@mina247 Glad to hear it! :) Making your own is just so much easier (and cheaper) than buying the store bought stuff!
Kayleebob 1 year ago
@Kayleebob Easier? No it's not. It's just a lot cheaper (beyond the initial equipment/supply purchase) and often far better tasting :P
