Ragazzi, la Katia prima maniera era semplicemente sublime. Timbro meraviglioso, grande istinto musicale e, nei ruoli che lo richiedevano, ottima disposizione per il canto fiorito. Peccato solo che, a causa di scelte di repertorio sbagliate e di alcune pecche tecniche, questa sua "prima maniera" sia durata pochissimi anni. Sospetto che uno dei suoi problemi tecnici fossero proprio questi pianissimi, così belli d'acchito, ma che ad un ascolto più attento mi suonano lievemente spoggiati.
ma la prima Ricciarelli era sublime in un certo repertorio (con SUOR ANGELICA ha debuttato alla Scala e in quegli anni ha cantato un bel BOCCANEGRA all'Arena, ma poi l'ambizione l'ha tradita e un demenziale repertorio l'ha distrutta precocemente
Intendo certe opere che non avrebbe mai dovuto cantare come DON CARLO e soprattutto BALLO IN MASCHERA che mettevano troppo alla prova la sua organizzazione vocale, la quale, accanto al timbro paradisiaco, aveva il grosso tallone di Achille di un settore acuto problematico fin dai primi anni di carriera.
io penso che un cantNTE DOVREBBE ESSERE APPREZZATO PER CIò CHE DI BELLO HA FATTO........la stanchezza, gli errori e il tempo che passa colpirà tutti....chi prima, chi dopo.....io personalmente valuto in base al meglio del contributo che hanno saputo dare, il resto è una coda.....

Beautiful floated notes. I also like Scotto's more emphatic presentation although vocally she is laboring occasionally under the tremendous demands of acting the role.
Yes! I had this on tape, my favorite Suor Angelica by far--Katia is so heartfelt and delicate, with incredible floating notes throughout the opera--and Cossotto could not be more chillingly frightening! For decades I have tried to find this in vain--dare I hope???!!! Going to search for it now!

Era veramente favolosa! Poi secondo me aveva la voce adattissima per interpretare Suor Angelica!

Very lovely. This sounds like the 1973 recording under Bruno Bartoletti, which also includes the imposing Zia Principessa of Cossotto.
