@MarkandJanna The MFTtable surface is designed to be cut into. Fes. recommends depth of cut be 2-5 mm greater than material you are cutting. Cut goes thru the material you are cutting into the sacrificial top but not into the aluminum support. With the replaceable splinter guard on the guide rail, make a splinter free cut! Flip over when cuts in the top get excessive, I have had my MFT for 8 ys, use it about 30 times a year (apx. 100-150 cuts) and only recently had to flip top.
The saw is the Festool Plunge Cut Saw with Rail. It can be found on the Woodcraft site and search item 561174 Festool Plunge Cut Saw w/ Rail Model TS 55 EQ . There are more details about it on the Woodcraft site.
No, the table is designed for use with Festool's plunge-saws and routers - I do believe that some plunge saws from other manufacturers (Mafell, Spero, perhaps recent Makita) can be used on the Festool rail.
How do you manage to not cut the table surface with the plunge cut saw?

Festool need to build a larger surface table for 8 x 4 sheet goods. This is ok for small pieces

@SPITFIRECARPENTRY The Festool tables are made to link together. By connecting two, you can double the available table space.

how do you cut pieces of wood without cutting through to the workbench, setting a saw to exact depth is a challenge in itself
