@lovedulcimermusic I use my thumb to hit the first beat note, then strum down-up (or just down). If you think of the beat as 1-2-3-4 then the thumb is on 1, and the down-up is on 3-4. I hope that makes sense - I'm not good at musical terminology.
Whats so interesting here is that you've taken a great song and an interesting cover and made it something more. Your cover is far better than John Regan's without any doubt. I think he was trying for the minimalism and loneliness that you've so perfectly captured here. Kudos for a great performance!
Nice technique, this guy makes the strumstick sound as great as any other instrument out there. It's amazing what you can manage when you throw in a little left-hand technique to add texture to your playing.
Whats the point? The instrument is for beginners, the concept is that it only plays the major scale and your not even using the frets to play the song. Get an actual guitar.
@Born4evilJr it doesnt only have to be for beginners i play the bass in a highschool band (upright and electric) but im thinking of getting one of these just to play for fun and i like the sound of them so maybe you should think before being a dick on youtube
@cjwolfer I don't really care, I play 6 string acoustic and electric guitar, bass and 7 string electric in a highschool band and 2 other bands outside of school and I'm entitled to my opinion. Fuck off.
@seonachan man, great job :O. im looking into buying a strum stick cuz uv inspired me. is it hard to play? for example, how long did it take you to play like u can in this video?
@SixStringFilms Well I've played self-taught guitar since I was a kid - never got too good but learned strumming & fingerpicking techniques. So I mostly knew what to do when I picked up the strumstick. But I think even for a newbie it has immediate rewards. What takes time is developing a feel and an ear for the sounds that you like and want. Good luck!
This was absolutely wonderful... little mistakes and all! Makes me want to save up for a strumstick myself just to sing this! Your arrangement is so beautiful... I've already watched this 3 times! Thanks for sharing! --Sam Love

Nice job! You could also meld that into "No Woman No Cry"... I think it would fit with the melody.

@gutturtle That would be appropriate - a song I heard too much in high school combined with a song I heard too much in college!

@seonachan Very cool! And yes, I meant how long, hahah. I just got my strumstick not too long ago and I'm loving it. Thanks for the response!
