The back is to long at the Top of your head and other than that its not to bad. And coming from a barber..the reason we ask how you want in shaped is because its clean cut..when they ask you that just say you dont want it shaped.

I use scissors, and the way I get the sides of my head, is by using the opposite hand and cutting on the inside of my hand.
Example: Back of Left hand on Right side of Head
By doing this, I can use my Right hand w/ scissors to cut upward on the Right side of my Head.
It is very precise and it leaves your hair layered equally.
