the Earth has been warming and cooling since bacteria started reproducing on this planet. These same scientists said it was global cooling in the 70's. We have barely gotten out of the little Ice Age in the 1300's. We still have 5-7 degrees of warming to fully recover from that time. This is all a mute point Mans effect on the planet is like two fleas on a dog arguing over who gets to drive.
Geophysicist Dr. Claude Allegre, a top geophysicist and French Socialist who has authored more than 100 scientific articles and written 11 books and received numerous scientific awards including the Goldschmidt Medal from the Geochemical Society of the United States, converted from climate alarmist to skeptic in 2006.
"I do not know one geologist who believes that global warming is not taking place. I do not know a single geologist who believes that it is a man-made phenomenon."
Paleoclimate scientist Bob Carter has noted that there is indeed a problem with global warming -- it stopped in 1998. "According to official temperature records of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in the UK, the global average temperature did not increase between 1998-2005. "...this eight-year period of temperature stasis did coincide with society's continued power station and SUV-inspired pumping of yet more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
Physicist Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski, chairman of the Central Laboratory for the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Radiological Protection in Warsaw, took a scientific journey from a believer of man-made climate change in the form of global cooling in the 1970's all the way to converting to a skeptic of current predictions of catastrophic man-made global warming.
Geologist Bruno Wiskel of the University of Alberta recently reversed his view of man-made climate change and instead became a global warming skeptic. Wiskel was once such a big believer in man-made global warming that he set out to build a "Kyoto house" in honor of the UN sanctioned Kyoto Protocol which was signed in 1997.
Wiskel also said that global warming has gone "from a science to a religion" and noted that research money is being funneled into promoting climate alarmism instead of funding areas he considers more worthy. "If you funnel money into things that can't be changed, the money is not going into the places that it is needed," he said.
Wiskel wanted to prove that the Kyoto Protocol's goals were achievable by people making small changes in their lives. But after further examining the science behind Kyoto, Wiskel reversed his scientific views completely and became such a strong skeptic, that he recently wrote a book titled "The Emperor's New Climate: Debunking the Myth of Global Warming."
Alright all you corporate shills, you're just another whore in a capitalist gang bang. I updated my channel with a cool new video, check it out! Global warming swindle debunked.
Um... so the point of this video is that Liberals (not Conservatives) are trying to make everybody paranoid?! LOL! Nice try. Last time I checked, crises like over-population are backed up by hard science and common sense. If a future population increases exponentially, how are we going to feed everybody when we can't feed everybody now? Wait, no, Republicans say our big threat is gay people getting married!
Absolutely, a gasoline engine is much more reliable than a hybrid. Natural gas is actually more reliable, but the hybrid has the lowest life expectancy of any commercially sold vehicles.
They are saying that the "Average consumer will only drive a Prius 6,700 miles in a year"
Which is bullshit, the national average is 12,000 miles per year, and since Priuses are sold primarily in California which has some of the longest national commute lengths.
The assumption is that the battery will crap out in the 15 years it'd take to get that mileage.
The neocons in the gop and the rushies follow the New American Century which requires a 911 pearl harbor to get things started but that global warming is nonexistent ... at issue is practically the whole of American agriculture ... most orchards, fields of grain and vegetable crops are pollinated by honeybees ... and both milk and meat come from cows that eat grain ... save the 16 oz new york cut steak ... save the pollinators
Actually, what is more at issue is governmental subsidies for ethanol, which causes farmers to switch crop production to corn to make the clean alternative fuel, which drives up the cost of other foods, which starves people, results in population reduction and stops global warming. problem solved.
I can see it without regard to the fact that most SUVs can't use E-85 yet. Did you catch the report that it takes more energy (e.g. carbon production) to build a Prius than a Hummer?
Art Spinella from CNW Marketing Research did a 2 year studty that foung the Hummer H3, in terms of dust-to-dust energy costs, equates to $1.95 per mile—while the Toyota Prius is almost $3.30 per mile.
He'll be passed off as an industry funded hack and will never see a penny from a governmental grant. You have to play the game and make the right findings to get the lucrative grants. I hope he didn't plan on writing a book either.
Excellent article. I loved the quote "Gore repeatedly asks that science and reason displace cynical political posturing as the central focus of public discourse. If Gore really means what he writes, he has an opportunity to make a difference by leading by example on the issue of global warming."
i'm glad to see that skeptics winning the war of public opinion just as skeptics arewinning the war in science. google "'Scepticism' over climate claims"
--Art Spinella from CNW Marketing Research did a 2 year studty that foung the Hummer H3, in terms of dust-to-dust energy costs, equates to $1.95 per mile—while the Toyota Prius is almost $3.30 per mile.--
Trick being
1. Art Spinella will not disclose his groups funding sources.
2. Art Spinella will not disclose his calculations used.
The basis for his calculations were spelled out in his paper, as for the funding sources, what does it matter? The facts are the facts, if they're wrong I'm sure the scientific process will point them out. The point is, all scientist receive funding from somewhere, what makes government funding pure while industry funding is corrupt? GW doomsday science is a $5 billion per year industry. Anybody who disputes it does not get a cut of the money. You see no potential bias there?
You don't think the Hybrid community is reviewing his paper? The government has to pay people to buy these cars, is it really a market driven change? At least we know a Prius will go 100 mph, thanks Al Gore III.
So if Ar Spinella isn't on the government till, receiving his portion of the $5 billion grant industry based solely on the dangers of man made global warming then he's not authoritative and his research doesn't matter. Did you even read the paper? He disclosed his calculations.
Absolutely, do I think the numbers are spot on? Probably not, but hybrid is not the answer. It's just to make people feel good. In 1994 I bought a Honda Civic VX, It was listed at 66 mpg. It was not hybrid, but got better millage than most hybrids. Why was it only produced in 93-4? The market didn't support it. I'm not against better mpg, but not for CO2 emission reasons, let the market decide.
Heh, well the issue there being is that the market does not decide how subsidies are given.
And the manufacturers haven't increased their mileage standards in 30 years.
Contrary to what market fundamentalists believe, the market is only self regulating when all services and damages are paid for, and when there are no external forces biasing the market.
That fictional market scenario does not exist, and never will.
That said, consider market competition more like competitive sports.
Again, government funding is pure, any other source is biased? To get government grants, you must have a dire situation to research, such as global destruction. Without it, you don't get your share of the $5 billion. Why waste money on voodoo science instead of researching cures to diseases? Money spent on these doomsday studies aren't spent on lifesaving medical research.
The government does not give grants of $5 billion on pet food??? Scientist rely on grants to get their paychecks, otherwise, they'd have to find another way to make a living. If GW is going to destroy the world, then we need $5 billion in grants to figure out a way to save it. Follow the money.
But the question there being, why would they be saying theres a consensus? Since if there was no concensus, then it would take longer to solve, and ultimately give them a longer period by which they could pull a paycheck.
By cutting to the chase with a consensus, they are effectively shortening the time by which they would be able to pull a paycheck.
I like this video better than the "Every Breath You Take" piece. I have to say that science is becoming more and more entangled with pop media and this is really hurting objectivity. While I agree on your views of climat change (we are not yet qualified to make any projections) I think the population increase is an actual problem, esp. for developing countries and the middle classes of developed countries.
I got a question about Gore's book. Is it true, that he wrote there, that in Silesia (region of Poland, Europe) pollution is so serious, that people hide in mines and check from time to time if it's safe to go out? Keep in mind, that it isn't true. AT ALL.
skandalieros666--I wish I could answer that one for you. I honestly wouldn't be surprised at anything Gore has written. Some of his whoppers are chronicled here, but hey who can possibly expect to know them all. :)
according to the national geographic magazine, disease-causing chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis is the bullet killing frogs, but climate change is pulling the trigger ... global warming is wreaking havoc on amphibians and causing staggering losses of biodiversity ... often used to gauge the health of an ecosystem ... but could the same or similar thing be happening to the lowly honey bee ... and other lowly forms of life deemed unneeded
NEWS!!!!! Google this: "Head of NASA downplays global warming". The NASA chief says it's "rather arrogant" for people to take the position that today's climate is the optimal one.
No doubt the green movement and the libs will try and sling mud against this scientist for his opposition.
"Whatever the cause of the cooling trend, its effects could be extrememly serious, if not catastrophic. Scientists figure that only a 1% decrease in the amount of sunlight hitting the earth's surface could tip the climatic balance, and cool the planet enough to send it sliding down the road to another ice age within only a few hundred years."
"There are ominous signs that the Earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production — with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now."
"Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic."
"Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin's Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the Earth."
"However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age."
"In searching for a new enemy to unite us we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like, would fit the bill." --'The First Global Revolution' by Club of Rome members Alexander King and Bertrand Schneider.
Really great video! Thanks for posting this. I am a high school student trying to form a solid opinion, but at school and in the media I just get hit over the head with global warming scares. I'm glad to see evidence to the contrary, as well as someone with the guts to point out the connection to our past apocalyptic predictions.
annaroseg--Thanks. I've got another video, "Al Gore finds truth inconvenient", if you're interested. It talks about some of the false statements that Gore has been making about GW. There are citations there for my sources as well.
I agree, I mean come on people, we are on a roll! I don't see any sign that it could possibly come to an end, so lets not bother with "precautions" or "safety" or any other such nonsense. That's why I don't wear a seatbelt, I've never been in a car crash yet and so I never will be! So remember, nuclear weapons are peaceful and no danger, global warming will just give us lovely hot summers, and the earth is limitless.
greyflcn--I'd say Stott's paper and Moberg's reflect a growing consensus that CO2 contributions are less than previously thought. Continuing in that line, we may find that CO2 causes almost none. This is the problem with making policy with unknown science. That's part of the reason I made this video. The 70s cooling scares sounded very similar to global warming, particularly the notionsof consensus.
greyflcn--Scientists were involved in the 70s hype too. They published articles. The Newsweek article, which easy to come by, even quotes a few scientists. Others, were quoted in the popular press too. It was much like it is now. They even had the obligatory blame-it-on-industrialization line going.
greyflcn--I'm still waiting an the article that domonstrates CO2 forcing. Currently, the articles I've seen say something like "we don't know what it is so it must be CO2." That's what Solanki after he found the solar correlation.
greyflcn--What do you make of the Stott paper? He's an AGW proponent, but this 2003 paper shows that even he had overestimated CO2 forcing. Several other papers, like Moberg, seem to be moving in this direction.
greyflcn--I don't think the link worked. Googling got me to grist. The URL took me to the Merchant video.
If you're refereing to the merchant video, I don't know how he can say that no evidence has come out against AGW. Moberg's paper which I've cited, clearly shows greater natural variability. Many other recent papers have similar conclusions.
"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are"
"The factors that influence climate are too numerous to document, much less understand from our present level of ignorance. ...The alarmist media reports...become the source of downstream hysteria promoted by those with extreme environmental agendas. Such pronouncements by ideological environmentalists that the globe's weather is worsening are actually false."
you don't need to 'fight' global warming, since 1)it's temporary, like all weather trends, 2) you can just take off your shirt and lay in the sun for awhile, it's nice, try it sometime, and 3) it will be GOOD for the planet for the short time it's here, since cold areas will be more comfortable to live in, and the warmth will support growing tons more food to feed the planet.
"and the warmth will support growing tons more food to feed the planet."
Aren't the forecasts that more heat in Africa will make it far harder to grow anything? Leading to millions of refugees leaving the continent and flooding into Europe and the US? Doesn't sound like fun to me.
"All the scientific evidence seems to support the same general conclusions, that the Kyoto Protocol is overly expensive, ineffective and based on bad science."
At the IVY LEAGUE U. or Penn, I audited a bi-weekly SYSTEMS ENGINEERING seminar of various international scientific experts back in 1997! 20 experts - from diverse disciplines - had extensively weighed in on multifarious and extremely complex scientific topics. I was CONVINCED of a real and absurdly extreme and "immediate" THREAT to humanity (worse than: entropy, plague, viruses, asteroids, orbital/solar system change, peak oil, war, etc. - terrorism doesn't even register as a threat! )
Very good video - great idea - and a very amusing overview of humanity's love of predicting its own doom, but just because the global warming *theories* change doesn't mean it's not happening. Scientists are debating only what form it'll take and how it'll affect us. And, as you wryly showed in the video, the media like to pick up on every hint of doomsday and create more scaremongering. We should fear global warming. We should fight it.
Bravo! Great job, iloveemo1984. As they say, you need to know your history in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past. I don't think many people recall/realize the hype of today isn't new, it's really just recycled garbage (or "gibberish", as fightnLIB would say).
30,000 people died in Europe's HEAT wave!! The worst disaster in Europe in 50 YEARS!!! The number of people that WILL die in Africa and India WILL be mind boggling. And it WILL be OUR faults!
iloveemo1984--I don't take kindly to personal insults! Do you work for the government? Oil? I don't claim to be a "scientist": I studied Systems Engineering at the Moore School of Engineering and Finance and Economics at the Wharton School of business - at the U. of Penn - Cum Laude! (And you?) But don't listen to me: READ the scientific arguments! And be aware that there is an inconceivable amount of money involved in this argument - so be wary of the SOURCE of the information!!
graffjamie--As I said, I've read the papers. None of them are as sensational as AGW proponents claim. Some claim more or less CO2 forcing, some none at all, many are changing their position, and many claim that we still aren't certain. I'm working on another movie for with scientific papers, but I can't say exactly when I'll have it finished.
graffjamie, you may have all these degrees, but you also may have forgotten 7th grade science class where we all learned that CO2 is good for the earth, that plants eat it and then produce oxygen, the more CO2 the healthier plants will be and the more oxygen there will be. Also, there is no concensus in the scientific community on Al Gore's global warming theory. You do agree with that, don't you?that many scientists from MIT, Harvard, NASA, have proven human CO2 global warming theories wrong?
i read his profile. I dont know if its just someone screwing around and making things up for fun, or if he's wierd. But either way he's not worth taking seriously in talking about global warming.
So do you - forkeat or iloveemo1984 - have college or advanced degrees? in Engineering or Science?? Do you have real names?? Why should anyone take anything you say seriously? I may not know my arse from my elbow but I have studied SYSTEMS as an honor student at an ivy league university : climate change is controversial but empirical evidence is steadily making the threat clearer and clearer. Very few other threats to our species compare.
graffjamie--Yes, in fact, I do have advanced degrees. However, bringing up my education isn't central to the issue. What I'm showing here is all factual and has nothing to do with my education. If I told you what my education was, you'd deny it or say I worked for oil companies or something else. What's the point?
It's NOT Al Gore's global warming theory! and didn't we also learn in 7th grade that the Earth and it's global ecoSYSTEM is a DELICATELY balanced SYSTEM and miraculously, has JUST the right balance of certain key elements to support life - unlike the vast, vast majority of almost every other planet we've searched in the universe. VERY, VERY delicately balanced SYSTEM! Why is there less and less vegetation on Earth every year? Why are the deserts growing??
"Oh, and the Sahara Desert has shrunk since 1985."
Are you sure? Last I looked the Sahara is exapnding into the Sahel due to further deforestation brought about largely by inefficient means of wood heating.
Well done. I write from Chile. We all are trying to understand what this life is all about. Sometimes you need music and energy to continue asleep. With all this complexity it is easy to lost the speed. Thanks for the video.
iloveemo1984, thanks for posting! Really good video, moves kinda fast, but you have to remember, I have a simple mind.... LOL. (quoted from fightnLIB)
What we really need is a GOP version of the above video to insert some proper science into the proceedings. We know that the REAL end of the world is going to be the Rapture, when magical tracter beams suck the righteous into the sky, while sea monsters consume the rest.
LAWL! sea monsters? you say that people cant insult global warming cus there ignorant and here you are blathering about Christianity, when you obviously dont know jack about it.
dude, the beast from the sea doesn't eat people. besides its figurative, almost all of revelations is figurative. and i would also like to point out that there are no tractor beams.
That 1956 Time Magazine cover that scaremongers about over-population is so funny. How crazy! Just look at the world 40 years later - no problems at all feeding the world or providing drinking water for all! Talk about cying wolf.
And Soylent Green - that crazy Liberal Charlton Heston gets it wrong again!

But after further examining the science behind Kyoto, Wiskel reversed his scientific views completely and became such a strong skeptic, that he recently wrote a book titled "The Emperor's New Climate: Debunking the Myth of Global Warming."

Which doesn't make any sense.
Do you really expect a Hummer to get triple the life expectancy of a Prius?

Absolutely, a gasoline engine is much more reliable than a hybrid. Natural gas is actually more reliable, but the hybrid has the lowest life expectancy of any commercially sold vehicles.

They are saying that the "Average consumer will only drive a Prius 6,700 miles in a year"
Which is bullshit, the national average is 12,000 miles per year, and since Priuses are sold primarily in California which has some of the longest national commute lengths.
The assumption is that the battery will crap out in the 15 years it'd take to get that mileage.

AlGoreIsAMoron 4 years ago
Actually, what is more at issue is governmental subsidies for ethanol, which causes farmers to switch crop production to corn to make the clean alternative fuel, which drives up the cost of other foods, which starves people, results in population reduction and stops global warming. problem solved.
vsizemore 4 years ago
Thanks! I think the ethanol usage is just a way to link SUVs to people starving the third world. I can just imagine the propaganda videos now.
iloveemo1984 4 years ago

2. Art Spinella will not disclose his calculations used.

greyflcn 4 years ago
The basis for his calculations were spelled out in his paper, as for the funding sources, what does it matter? The facts are the facts, if they're wrong I'm sure the scientific process will point them out. The point is, all scientist receive funding from somewhere, what makes government funding pure while industry funding is corrupt? GW doomsday science is a $5 billion per year industry. Anybody who disputes it does not get a cut of the money. You see no potential bias there?
vsizemore 4 years ago
Since when did Spinella publish this in a peer reviewed journal?
greyflcn 4 years ago
You don't think the Hybrid community is reviewing his paper? The government has to pay people to buy these cars, is it really a market driven change? At least we know a Prius will go 100 mph, thanks Al Gore III.
vsizemore 4 years ago
So if Ar Spinella isn't on the government till, receiving his portion of the $5 billion grant industry based solely on the dangers of man made global warming then he's not authoritative and his research doesn't matter. Did you even read the paper? He disclosed his calculations.
vsizemore 4 years ago
re: vsizemore
Did you even read this paper?
greyfalcon. net/ hummerprius
greyflcn 4 years ago
Absolutely, do I think the numbers are spot on? Probably not, but hybrid is not the answer. It's just to make people feel good. In 1994 I bought a Honda Civic VX, It was listed at 66 mpg. It was not hybrid, but got better millage than most hybrids. Why was it only produced in 93-4? The market didn't support it. I'm not against better mpg, but not for CO2 emission reasons, let the market decide.
vsizemore 4 years ago
Heh, well the issue there being is that the market does not decide how subsidies are given.
And the manufacturers haven't increased their mileage standards in 30 years.
Contrary to what market fundamentalists believe, the market is only self regulating when all services and damages are paid for, and when there are no external forces biasing the market.
That fictional market scenario does not exist, and never will.
That said, consider market competition more like competitive sports.
greyflcn 4 years ago
Again, government funding is pure, any other source is biased? To get government grants, you must have a dire situation to research, such as global destruction. Without it, you don't get your share of the $5 billion. Why waste money on voodoo science instead of researching cures to diseases? Money spent on these doomsday studies aren't spent on lifesaving medical research.
vsizemore 4 years ago
Don't you think that if they really were in it for the money, that they would say that the science is "uncertain by scary"
Effectively making it so that they can study it ad nasuem?
Besides which, what makes you think researchers get to keep anything more than a mere paycheck out of the whole deal?
Or rather that these individuals won't be able to get comparable or better paychecks elsewhere?
We spend more per year on petfood scientists than $5 Billion.
greyflcn 4 years ago
The government does not give grants of $5 billion on pet food??? Scientist rely on grants to get their paychecks, otherwise, they'd have to find another way to make a living. If GW is going to destroy the world, then we need $5 billion in grants to figure out a way to save it. Follow the money.
vsizemore 4 years ago
But the question there being, why would they be saying theres a consensus? Since if there was no concensus, then it would take longer to solve, and ultimately give them a longer period by which they could pull a paycheck.
By cutting to the chase with a consensus, they are effectively shortening the time by which they would be able to pull a paycheck.

I'd say Stott's paper is rather accurate at least in premise.
Warming is caused by a mixture of solar activity AND greenhouse emmisions.
However the influence of Solar activity doesn't explain the past 30 years effectively.
But does explain the warming between 1910 and 1940

greyflcn--I'd say Stott's paper and Moberg's reflect a growing consensus that CO2 contributions are less than previously thought. Continuing in that line, we may find that CO2 causes almost none. This is the problem with making policy with unknown science. That's part of the reason I made this video. The 70s cooling scares sounded very similar to global warming, particularly the notionsof consensus.
iloveemo1984 4 years ago
--Continuing in that line, we may find that CO2 causes almost none.--
I somehow doubt that.
Even Stott mentions that the CO2 influence is larger than the solar influence.
If somehow the science comes up with a breakthrough 5 years from now that prove we were all wrong, big woop.
And as you should well know, the 70's cooling scare was media hype. The scientists said it was entirely ambiguous.

Even Lindzen agrees with that.

greyflcn--Scientists were involved in the 70s hype too. They published articles. The Newsweek article, which easy to come by, even quotes a few scientists. iloveemo1984 4 years ago
greyflcn--I'm still waiting an the article that domonstrates CO2 forcing. Currently, the articles I've seen say something like "we don't know what it is so it must be CO2." That's what Solanki after he found the solar correlation.

you don't need to 'fight' global warming, since 1)it's temporary, like all weather trends, 2) you can just take off your shirt and lay in the sun for awhile, it's nice, try it sometime, and 3) it will be GOOD for the planet for the short time it's here, since cold areas will be more comfortable to live in, and the warmth will support growing tons more food to feed the planet.
