Weird watching this COLOR pilot. No offence, but, I agree Happy Derman's perrformance really stank. I'm glad they replaced him. I got to interview (briefly) Butch Patrick (SEE: butch patrick at the capri) and it was quite a thrill. Back to THIS clip: In my opinion, the actress playing Lilly is sub par, and Ms. De Carlo was brilliant. Every so often a younger Yvonne De Carlo pops up in an old movie, quite the actress!

I love the part where Grandpa tries to bite Phoebe. She's so beautiful. But I do see why they replaced her. She looks like a direct copy of Morticia Addams. I think Phoebe is better than Lily but I think that comes from my obvious obsession with Morticia Addams. If Phoebe had stayed, the world would have been in love with her.
The Munster wife is astonishingly beautiful, makes Yvone de Carlo look plain by comparison. Had she stayed in the part, a whole generation would've grown up talking about their huge crush on Lily Munster.

The Munsters would never, ever have been the big hit that it was if they wouldn't have made the casting changes. Did anyone notice how flat this Phoebe's performances were? Ugh. And the kid playing Eddie? This clip made me feel embarrassed for Ed Gwynne and Al Lewis and the amateurs they had to put up with.
