Rodney Mullen is a different example all together. Rodney won contests because of his personal goals and habits. Many of the tricks in the 90's plan b videos he would try for for several days before landing.

Not all skaters take several days of course to land tricks, BUT most skaters do not perform the tricks they do on video's on a daily basis. I have skated with several pros in my life, and I know from first hand experience that that is the case.
