what a bunch of nothing. so if you buy a new tire that is 32/32 and it is supposed to be not safe on the penny or quarter test then you are buying only 3/4's of a tire and this makes the tire very expensive. be careful who to believe, even most of the tire experts are ignorant of their claims and what the tire info means on the sidewall.
You can always adjust to the conditions. Obviously when it is wet, I don't go as fast as when I do when its dry, and always leave more room infront if its wet.
And how is better tyre grip going to save idiots from making stupid driving decisions that cause accidents?
Actually, it has been proved in other testing conditions. Many truck tires have the 2/32 bump to show tires need to be replaced, and they also have another groove at 4/32 to show they should be replaced. Believe that also M/S tires are also starting to get the 4/32 groove but to indicate below that groove they are not good for snow anymore.
Great morals! Condemn tire rack, but ok to run over some one cause you cannot stop. Cool dude.
This video is a joke. No variables? How about brake pedal pressure? BULL.
Very nice scare tactics, tire rack.
Tire rack wont be seeing my business just for making such an insultingly wrong video. Show some science in your ads or deal with the fact that tires last a little bit longer than you would like them to.
Putting up shady testing and using fear may work on some consumers, but it certainly isn't right according to my morals.
What if my penny tested tires perform better than your quarter tested tires? You have shown test result on one set tires, and I argue results differ from model to model. It would help the public to publish all the data. If I changed my tires at the quarter level, I am I not being environmentally unfriendly. I adjust my driving according to the driving conditions, and my equipments. I understand different vehicles require different traction, stopping distances ... etc.

Yeah, but on dry roads you get twice the grip ;)

My tires don't even pass the penny test, let alone the quarter test.
