  • 40mpg.....wow that's soooo impressive, oh wait VW's been doin it for 4 years with the Jetta TDi. And Ford built a small car 10 years ago that could get 40mpg AND pretty quick n sporty too, Even Dodge had a shot at it 15 years ago with the Neon. 40mpg is not hard with the right compromise of size and efficiency and speed.

  • @yellowmusicfreak haha and since when are TDI's fun to drive? Maybe like never? TDI's are slow, and the new DSG has gotten horrendous reviews. This is the first MIDSIZED car to get 40mpg, look up the dimensions and you will see its not technically a compact, just marketed as one.

  • The whacky paint jobs are camoflauge... they dont want people to see the full car...

  • this car came out in 2009 in south america

  • Why do all of these cars in production have wacky black and white paint jobs?!

What purpose could it possibly serve?!

    Someone please educate me.

  • I'm not trying to bash GM (I drive a Pontiac Sunfire) but there's NOTHING I'm seeing or hearing in this video that makes me want to own a Cruze. The Ford Focus seems like a better option. I'm VERY skeptical that this Cruze will be fun to drive.....I fear that it'll just another small GM car that has NUMB handling, spongy brakes, and too much road noise. A terrible car? No, ...just another car with no SOUL. I really hope I'm wrong about this car ; GM is still a great co. with great potential.

  • Daewoo was a fucking stupid company,. Those Koreans still buying Daewoo is Moronic man

the samething with Renault-Samsung, those stupid Koreans buy a Renault product. all of hte profit that Koreans built will go to France and off shore accounts.

How fucking ignorant can Koreans be? I mean why would a worker and engineers work for Foreigners? These companies have no interest in investing and distribuiting their wealth back into Korea.

  • the Cruze isn't Korean it's being built in Lordstown, Ohio.

  • @StuinthaHouse from kits from korea and germany

  • Like Ford and Mazda. Ford was making horrendously bad cars in the 80's and 90's. They needed to compete against the Japanese. So they acquired Mazda to do lots of engineering for them. Mazda's acquisition paid off witht he advent of the Mazda 6 global architecture which would be the foundation for the Ford Fusion, Milan, MKZ, Edge, and probably more models. Without Mazda, Ford would be biting the dust right now. As well, Daewoo is similar situation as with GM.

  • This car is the coming out party for Daewoo. Though GM is Daewoo's pimp daddy. If only Korean engineers and workers stopped working for Daewoo, GM would be the hell out of South Korea. We don't need an evil corporation like GM to infest and leach of its Korean productivity. If you can blame anyone, blame it on that fucker Kim Woo Choong. You have no idea out traitorous he was when he intentionally made stupid decisions so that GM could have all of Daewoo's assets.

  • P JUNK

  • What A worst project form cobalt.

YOU DON't RECONIZE ABOUT SUBSCRIPTION OF REAR SUSPENSION.

  • Just becoz its daewoo doesnt mean its bad. We'll wait n see the reviews.

  • 40 mpg. As dr. evil will say "Riiiiiiightttt..... I have to say feed this freakn car to the freakn sharks with FREAKN LASER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!!"

LET THEM LIE THATS WHAT THEIR GOOD AT

  • This vehicle is nothing more than a rebadged Daewoo. We all know how bad the Daewoo based Aveo is. This car will be a flop.

It is just more crap from GM

    GARBAGE!!!!

  • The rear end taillights look like a rip off from the Acura 1.7 EL. . Independent rear suspension it's about time. Needs a 2.5 ltr with Doc and Vtech putting out 180hp. Then a 2.5 with a Supercharger with 230hp on an SS model.

  • Cobalt is a decent enough car...not bad rep...why change the name to something nobody will recognize? Maybe the could have called it the Nova. That name has recognition. Cruze is a dumb name. Soebody is sure to have a plate that says "Tom" on it...even though his name is spelled different. I heard it is going to be a Daewoo design...or is it Opel like the current Cobalt. Our Cobalt is identical to the Opel except the grille.

  • the car has a little european inspiration

  • Uhm, no it is not at all a Daewoo... It is a Chevrolet... From Chevrolet, General Motors in Detroit.. Unites States of America... And not Daewoo, Korea... Nope, Chevy in Detroit are building it for the US AND European market. In Europe it will be replacing the current Nubira (Lacetti in UK). So, it has NOTHING to do with a Daewoo

  • fuck why are they going to replace the cobalt?

  • i know what u mean the cobalt should be what the evo is to Mitsubishi

  • cobalt doesnt have that eye candy style.

  • more style than this car though.

  • @JcmMagNoo I actually liked the Cobalt. It was just more thirsty than it needed to be.

  • So basically it's going to be a Cobalt but better.

  • i think that the 2 door cobalt looks alot better than this. the 4 door 'balt is ugly but whatever. why change the name? they spent soooo much time on engineering the turbo cobalt ss and now their just gonna kill it and go to this? im mad. they better make this a turbo track car like the ss is

  • As soon as gas ticks below three dollars, GM will be right back where they were offering incentives on an H4 and an H5 SUPER SIZE LUXURY TOWN CRUSHER. And those stupid enough to remain loyal will be making payments on their rebadged Daewoo go-carts with our Wal-Mart paychecks. Their in-bred mid-western mentality will follow the downward spiral to the end.

  • where i live, new jersey, it is below 3 dollars, i saw 2.95 tonight. then again, nj has the cheapest gas in the country. so i dont see any h5 super town crusher(?).

  • i saw it in richmond texas (near houston) for 2.94 i had a huge smile when i saw that! maily cuz i get 10mpg in my f150

  • well... maybe you should buy a smaller car dumbass

  • its called money dumbass. my truck is paid off.

  • XD i still think you're an idiot. 10 mpg? come on... even a suburban doesn't do that bad.

  • uh i get 10mpg cuz my truck is going on 10 yrs old and its lifted, 32'' tires and alot of acceories. im getting better mpg now cuz i put a dual axhaust on, im getting about 12 now. WHERE IS YOUR CAR!!!! STOP COMPLAING ABOUT GAS PRICES CUZ U DONT EVEN OWN A CAR!

  • who says i dont own a car? i own a 2004 mazda6s 3.0L v6. its a proper car, nimble, handles well, powerful. so far as i can see, the only reason you need a truck is if you are a farmer or contractor or some kind of other self employed blue collar worker. otherwise, who needs more than my car?

  • oh hell no! dont ever call someone that when they are SELF EMPLOYED SOD DONT CALL ME A REDNECK! i see other people drive bigger trucks and me and there not even white like me. and i have a 5.4 V8 handles perfectly, and a whole lot more powerfull and ur little mazda. if u were to hit u, u'd be dead!

    BITCH!

  • dude i didnt call you a red neck and if you read my whole comment i said i think its cool if you are self employed. relax. anyway, you cannot accurately compare a truck to a mazda. the mazda was built for cornering and speed as well as practicality. the truck is built for towing and hauling. im just saying i see people owning large pickup trucks that dont use them for anything other than commuting to the city (i live in north jersey).

  • you said. "the only reason you need a truck is if you are a farmer or contractor or some kind of other self employed blue collar worker" blue collar? are u joking that meant redneck. oh wait! you live in the north! thats why u dont know what blue collar means! i live in texas, remeber DONT MESS WITH TEXAS!

  • lol, you do realize that blue collar is actually almost a compliment. A blue collar worker is someone who has a hardworking decent paying jobs. Its not an insult to be called a blue collar worker. Just because Jeff Foxworthy decided to call his comedy tour "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" doesn't automatically turn in a redneck. Trucks really do have the purpose as work vehicles, they are meant for hauling and towing. But if you use them for general commutes then it's really just a waste of and gas.

  • lol, good bye cobalt

  • Comment removed

  • Chevrolet Epica=Suzuki Verona in america, as far as i know.

  • toyota lexus car not gm idiot shit

  • Looks like a cheap audi. The U.S. spec fiesta looks a heck of a lot better. Too bad GM can't put the kind of effort it does into its $30,000 cars, like the CTS, into its smaller cars. Americans just don't know how to do a small car and GM especially doesn't if it can't charge 30k.

  • kinda looks like a g8 if not just a bit smaller

  • wtf

  • classic work of art! 5 stars

  • classic? its not even out yet. the camaro, mustang, thunder bird, gto, firebird, and plenty of others are classics. i dont really like chevy's aside from the camaro, which its about time got brought back, so i dont think im gonna give an opinion on this =P

  • Cobalt sucked--good call to replace it.

  • The All-New Chevy Cruze will be Chevy's newest compact car.

  • Nice looking car (From what i can see)

  • hahahahaha!!! whatever you think!! hahahaha!!

  • Nice....uh....paint job is what they call that?? Way to keep it inconspicuous GM!!!

  • It's called camouflage and every car has it on when they haven't released it yet.

If you knew what a car looked like before the reveal, you wouldn't be surprised. Car companies want their cars to be covered up until the last moment, but need to test it in real world conditions, so they have the camo on...

  • I know. Way to see the sarcasm in my comment. But nothing GM produces anymore "breaks the mold" so it doesn't exactly matter if other people see it or not. Besides, if you don't want people to see it don't test it on public roads.

  • Well If you saw photoshops of it, it definitely 'breaks the mold', and do you think the Chevy Malibu isn't a break from the past? It went from Crappy to Luxury in less than a year. Same for the CTS and Saab 9-3.

BTW, the Cruze is projected to get 40MPG or more without hybrid technology, so looks really don't matter.

  • ANYONE can make ANYTHING break the mold in photoshop. Take a quick tutorial and your golden. I think they broke it, whatever it is, when they came out with the Malibu in my opinion. I have yet to like that car, and I keep trying. :( Maybe one day, but as of yet...and they definitely didn't break the right thing. Personal opinion.

  • I respect your personal opinion, but I just hate when people judge cars when they haven't even seen it yet, let alone drive it.

  • I really don't see anything coming out of this aside from GMs way to catch up with the skyrocketing fuel prices. It's about time they jumped on the right bandwagon for once. This is one bandwagon that is not going to stop. Fuel prices are never going to return to what they used to be because oil is a non-renewable energy source. That's all this vehicle is about and I don't agree with GM for waiting so damned long to produce a vehicle, and for that reason alone. Just so they look good.

  • I agree with you 100%. But at least GM's actually doing something. Unlike the rest of Detroit.

  • Sweet! I love GM!

  • looks nice

  • i wish that GM would stop changing the names of it's small cars it makes them seem disposable

  • Actually, they already had the rights to the Cruze name (so the name lives on, technically), and they're switching to Cruze rather than Cobalt or an existing compact name primarily because the Cobalt will remain in production when the Cruze will be around, for perception and economical reasons and to have more than a single compact entry in the market.

  • that's all nice and good" Vitaminous" but effect is still the same using names like tissue paper doesn't give the platform brand loyalty like say a Civic , Corolla or Jetta and besides we know it is meant to replace the Colbalt even though it is the Colbalt/Cavalier . nah mean?:~)

  • Cobalt and Cavalier are 2 completely different cars, Cobalt was just a lot nicer replacement for the Cavalier. Civics, Corollas Jettas are also more expensive than the Cobalt. Look it up.

  • that's not the point "Tonydsubchev" the point is Colbalt and Cavalier are the "small cars" in Chevy's lineup as is Corolla, Jetta and the Civic these cars are updated and made nicer with each and every generation as should have been Cavaliers/Colbalt/Chevette's. Yet in keeping the same name Civic, Jetta and Corolla have brand recognition that the Cruze could never match no matter how good it may be. it's called brand recognition and it works. look it up

  • Hmmm and that's why...

Toyota got rid of corolla (replaced by auris)

Volkswagon got rid of jetta (replaced by passat)

They had such great brand recognition that the respective companies got rid of them.

Giving a new car a new name indicates that the company is signifying an innovation + move forward in technology.

    Moron.

  • you are so wrong, the Auris is for europe and asian markets, Not.. here. the passat has been in existence for over ten years in america as a mid size entry from VW you need to check your facts to avoid sounding foolish, thank you.

  • Ok SO in Europe and Asia (Their main markets) Toyota got rid of the Corolla and replaced with Auris.

And within Europe and Asia (VW main markets) they got rid of the Jetta and replaced with Passat.

If they were such revered names why did they get rid of them?? To signify innovation and change in design.

Just because they didn't change the name in the good ol bankrupt USA doesn't mean that's what they're doing in the rest of the world.

Sheesh americans are so insular. Moron.

  • ahh haven't you notice that the WORLD right now is in a bankrupt state the world economy is on a down swing, asian markets, europe markets, iceland ,ireland etc. have all reported financial meltdown again check facts before making your statements

  • Hey mate, no need to fight, even though your wrong and i'm right!

  • Yes you're right in the own world you live in.

The rest of the real world is already watching the decline of your economy as the US level of debt reaches unmanageable proportions.

That said i have always bought GM cars as i prefer the styling and build quality, especially these newer Chevrolets. Am thinking to take the Cruze for a test drive when its released next spring.

  • yeah the world watches because the world knows that i'ts that important, it's a domino effect. if america falls we all fall . that simple i have been living in america for 5 years i was born and raised in Kessel Germany. FYI

  • Well I think you've got a nerve callin me euro trash when you're german!

And yes it is a step forward for america that they have finally got rid of bush and the red necks but Obama alone cannot remove the debt levels that are stifling the american economy.

  • you're doing too much.

  • quite a smart car

  • 40mpg, huh.

  • it looks exactly like a Holden Epica which we get here in Australia

  • probably is, aren't they both part of G.M.?

  • true, but why is this coming out in America after so long? we've had the Holden in Aus 4 ages now.

  • its replacing the chevy Cobalt

  • As far as we know, the Epica isn't coming to America... Its successor should, however.

You're getting the Cruze a replacement for... Uh, what is it, the Luva or whatever? Y'know, that other compact offering Holden has under the Astra.

  • We gwt that Holden as a Chevrolet here in Europe, both in 6 cil inline petrol and 4 cil diesel. I think this one is a bit smaller. I'd bet it's the replacement for the Lacetti/Nubira (a.k.a. Suzuki Reno/Chevy Optra...). Anyway, we'll see which will it be in a few months

  • Sweet...

Wish i knew what the music was in the end....?

  • Definitely.

  • do they borrrow the car for the car compeny or just they are in the street and found tis new car in the street

  • Intersting

  • 0-60 and quarter mile?????????

  • The Cobalt is better than the Cruze will ever be.

  • looks like the new insignia from vauxhall

  • skodas: I thought it looked a bit European. If it is based on an Opel, you know it'll be a great little car!

  • why do they whisper?

  • cause its a spy video duh

  • but they don't present it while they're taking video right?

  • yeah they were, they were hiding behind bushes filming it and introducing the car. that's why they had to whisper.

  • wow another boring gm claiming to be as good as the import cars...ya right...we'll see if that is true...and gm should hurry up if they want to jump on the eco bang wagon, 2010 is a long time away considering gas is anticipated to drop to $65 a barrel...

  • you mean oil is gonna be that cheap, or gas? anyways, youre right about this being a band wagon, even though scientists have stopped believing in global warming some people think theyre doing their part even though it would only make a 1% difference if the myth was true and EVERYONE in the u.s. switched from suvs to this.
