Often times conservative groups will mass buy a new book by a conservative pundit/politician. They do this so they book shoots up the sales charts and becomes a best seller. They usually end up giving them away at conservative conferences and other meetings.
Although using your own non-profit PAC to buy your own books thus accomplishing the above while effectively putting the money back into your own pocketbook is a new one by me.

Oh, please. This is fairly common. People use their PAC money to buy their books or some other item as a fundraising tool to get more money. Palin bought the books which she then signed and then turned around and sold for $100 bucks each for her PAC. Lots of people do this. Lieberman did this.

@Shytebrick Sarah Palin sold 2.8 million books through Dec. 2009. That's very impressive by any standard. However, when checking my local Costco in January there are stacks of unsold copies of her book being priced at closer to $10.00 each. The pre-order on Amazon was also around $10.00 a copy as well. I suppose that if one bought in bulk, that price could be bested. I think the issue of the affect of 60,000 copies is a false one, though. Still, I hope she never gets elected to national office.
