  • You must have been one hell of a good bassist 10 years ago because that's some very impressive playing well done.

  • fekken great :-)

  • Brilliant mate...amazing what a difference a short amount of time makes...you were a totally different bass player in the latest one..so accomplished and slick!! Loved it!!

  • by the way i was watching it again and had a good laugh at 1:19...we've all been there man....you expressed how frustrating playin bass can be perfectly

  • @1234TIMMER4321 LOL - all the more frustrating when you know it's one of the easiest parts to play. Cheers mate.

  • ur s surprisingly good bassist....nice take on an old classic...good stamina....u beat the hell outta that thing for 7 and a half minutes strraight.....im a bass player too and i know thats not easy to do....keep it up...u just got urself a another subscriber

  • Bloody great mate.. Really enjoyed it and on my fourth watch through! Where did you get the backing track or is it your own composition? Either way I want it!... Cheers

    Paul

  • @scaz38 Got it from a drummer friend of mine and added vox, sound effects etc. Glad you liked it.

  • Very cool indeed!

Been following the uploads which is becoming like a log of how you’re progressing over the months in getting back up to speed with playing again, so by Christmas we want to see a real show stopping performance from you!!

Don’t worry about the glasses as they add certain character! The hat’s pretty good too – lol.

Thanks for sharing with us and lets have some more.

  • @JayDee11 Haha, many thanks - no pressure, then :D

  • Well done! Nice to hear all the extra bits in the bassline, makes my original studio version sounds boring :P

Gotta say you made a really good purchase with the Dean bass, sounds punchy and has nice tone!

  • @ramon709 Glad you like it. The good thing about backing tracks is the freedom to play around with riffs without clashing with the original bass.

Still getting used to the Dean - love the sound, just not convinced it likes low-gauge strings; which has a knock-on effect with action etc..

  • Nice work, you can hear and see you've regained your confidence and smoothened out your style... Every vid gets better mate...

  • @jonannlou Thanks bud - it's slowly coming back, albeit from a different perspective.

It's funny, I surprised myself last week when I suddenly started hammering-out Mr Pink (in a haphazard manner) from memory. I was like: "Where did that come from!" A couple of months ago I couldn't remember how to play any of it beyond the intro and thought I'd have to re-learn it from scratch (eventually).

It's proving to be an interesting journey on several levels.

  • @TheWhippinpost I was very much the same. I came back to playing about 2 or so years ago. I wasn't too good when I played before but worked out a few tricks etc.. I don't think you ever stop learning on an instrument and theres something in the brain that remembers tracks from years ago and suddenly you start playing them! I can still play the keyb parts I was doing when I was 16! Can't wait to pick up some drum sticks again on day though :)

  • @jonannlou As a drummer and keyboardist, I think you'll like my next play-along ;)

And yeah you're right: can never stop learning an instrument - even a four-stringed bass! The reason I stopped playing was because I discovered Cubase - don't have to put up with moody band members with that.
