  • 5 minutes of my life wasted....

    god i hate buffering

  • I love what I do, but getting only $22,000/yr as an FO... Now I say I love my job, I hate my company...

  • *SNRK*

  • @NVTrucker I agree with u

  • Hahahahaha..... No... Just no ...atc these days

  • lol!

  • eat more? ok

  • got to eat more LOL

  • Lol. JFK control is always on point!

  • @CanNibble Pretty much you have to state your call number i.e eagle345 with your request to the tower, they answers your request or give you direction etc you have to repeat it back to them so they know you have it right. The number with R or L is runways btw. Hope I helped I might be a little rusty though since I decided to no longer pursue the industry.

  • that's right

  • @CanNibble Actually that's a good point - after the Tenerife crash the rules of ATC were changed so that the words "take off" can only be used in relation to a *clearance* for take off, to try & avoid any future misunderstandings like this. i.e. as a pilot when you are ready for take off you must say "ready for departure", you are not allowed to say "ready for take off". Likewise, ATC must not used the words "take off" unless they are clearing you for take off.

  • @CanNibble The reason you don't know what they're saying is that you don't know what they *might* say. I had the same problem when I first started pilot training, could hardly understand a word. Eventually you get to know what phrases the controller will probably say back to you, so your brain automatically fills in the gaps of the bits you didn't quite hear. It's quite easy to understand after a while.

  • @CanNibble thats what im wondering too!

  • Freaking Awesome!

  • hahhahha classic!

  • "To Be heavy" I hope to be the same too one day :)

  • sounds like boston john

  • smurf jet up!!!

  • That is Just too F***ing funny, "Aspiring to be heavy" ...Just be happy you're getting paid to fly!

  • @NVTrucker It's this attitude that has lead the industry to be the sess pool that it is. Heaven forbid a pilot wish to be compensated fairly for flying. "Just be happy you're getting paid to fly.." Give me a break..

  • @Tramsootru You misunderstand me. I would give anything, ANYTHING to be a pilot, much less paid for it. You'll have to excuse me if I don't feel pity for someone who gets paid to do something they love. (Something they would probably do for free) The comment wasn't meant as a slam, it was meant to make the pilot think. There are people who would love to be in his shoes.

  • @NVTrucker No, I understand you. You have no idea what it is like to be an airline pilot. It is a job, just like whatever it is you do to put food on your table. Those who share your "do it for free" idea have killed the industry. Airlines tell pilots "just be glad you're being paid to fly." Like we should accept that as payment rather than feed our children. There are those who THINK they would want to be in an airline pilots shoes. Those same people would take the shoes off, quickly.

  • What's the BA pilot saying?

  • @KarlLeroyMD He's just confirming what the tower told him to do.

  • I'm sure it's the same controller on all the JFK ground recordings.

  • "aspiring to be heavy" lmfao

  • Speedbird 2 is an A318. It is not a HEAVY. Which is why the controller corrected himself. As JFK controllers are used to seeing only HEAVY British Airways aircraft, the controller made a mistake on the inital clearance for takeoff, but quickly corrected himself in the same transmission.

the A318 operates New York-JFK to London CIty airport in England. (via Ireland i believe, to clear customs and for fuel, at least on the westbound leg)

  • @born2atc the stops made in Shannon where you clear customs and the plane refuels

  • @born2atc At this time it was a 757. The 757 was once a heavy at all times but now it is only distinguished as a heavy sometimes. This cases wasn't one of them.

  • @born2atc the a318 route TO LCY doesnt make any stops. however, TO JFK it stops in shannon to refuel because the a318 cannot take off with a full fuel load on the london city runway.

  • @born2atc A318 trans-atlantic? WHHHAAAAAAT?

  • @TTDMFfreaknew i was like that too

  • @TTDMFfreaknew It's a business class only flight that departs from London City airport, which is right slap bang in the middle of London, as opposed to Heathrow which is on the western periphery and a lot harder to get to from the middle of London. Quite a nifty idea from BA I think....

  • @born2atc What makes them "heavy" ?

  • @Postie218 mtow above a certain weight i believe. couldnt tell you what that weight is tho

  • @Postie218 t/o weight over 255,000 lbs. Although some slightly lighter like the 757 are also considered "heavy" by many controllers. It means the aircraft can generate a lot of wake turbulence so they should allow more space behind it.

  • @oktal3700 hey thanks

  • @born2atc i think it only stops in ireland west-bound both to refuel and clear us immigration etc to avoid the hustle and waiting in jfk (its a business class-only flight).

  • Comment removed

  • no hevy is associated with different levels of wake turbulance the aeroplane produces.

  • eat more???? hahahhahahhaha WFT!!!

  • I wish I was heavy(er) too...I should eat more too lol

  • "Thats right" hahaha

  • "Gotta do what I do eat more!" LOL

  • Spring Bird HEAVY means he is a large widebody aircraft. ComAir is a regional "baby jet" and the pilot said he is "aspiring to be a heavy" that is, flying a heavy , wide body jet! The controller said "eat more", as in eat more to be heavier (fat).

  • Um...no. SPEED Bird is British Airway's radio Callsign and it does not mean an aircraft is a large widebody aircraft. Its just the identifier of a flight that is flying an aircraft that falls under the heavy category, for example the Boeing 747 or the Boeing 767 or B777.

  • The picture of the second plane is misleading... the second plane is also awaiting departure...

  • I think he said You gotta do what I do.. Eat more. lol.. cuz the BAW is obviously a heavy and bigger than the CRJ.. :P

  • Im sorry, im german and didnt understand the whole recording...

Can anybody write it here please??

  • @Weltbevoelkerung basically pilot repeats transmission from tower , then tower atc said u gotta do "what i do ,read more " that's all nothink much , not even funny to be honest

  • ok thanks!!

  • no the comair aircraft says "trying to be heavy" and the controller replies "you have to do what I do... Eat More"

  • Controller: "Speedbird-2-heavy 4L cleared for takeoff"

    Speedbird2heavy: "cleared 4L, Speedbird 2"

Controller: "Comair 525, 4L, position and hold"

Comair525: "okaaaaaayyy..aspiring to be heavy comair 525 position and hold 4L"

Controller: "gotta do what I do..eat more."

    Comair525: "that's right"
