A) Uninstalling Adobe Acrobat leaves behind the vulnerable DLLs, which means the vulnerability is still there.
B) The vulnerability is not Windows-specific, it is present in the Unix (Linux) version as well.

Oh, one more thing: Adobe will patch this on the 11th (of March, 2009)

Vista users @ default UAC settings are protected against this vulnerability.... the shell extension calls for elevation.
To be fully secure, uninstall Acrobat and use Foxit. Better still, use Linux :/
