Thanks for this video. Always felt sorry for Swaps. A beautiful, talented horse with great courage and heart. Too bad he was handled by people who thought a thoroughbred race horse should be treated like a cow pony. Must have had a strong constitution/stamina to survive that treatment and do what he did. What he accomplished racing on 3 good legs was phenomenal. Setting speed records too. It's a shame they raced him against Nashua with that inflamed right front hoof. Swaps was great!

I love Swaps. But while it is true that Citation never won at 5 with 130+ on his back, the following should be noted: he never finished worse than 2nd, and never by more than a length. The great Noor, in the HOF, was disgracefully underweighted (110, 114), and had to set American and World records in order to beat Cy by the smallest of margins.
Swaps is one of the greatest horses ever - he ought to have had his chance at the Triple Crown which he would probably have won. In a way, he's the Satchel Paige of racing.
One of Greatest Ever! Hope people get involved to stop Bay Meadows Land Co. from closing down Swaps' historic home track, Hollywood Park. They succeeded in destroying Bay Meadows to build condos. What a shame.

Swaps was hindered by a problem front hoof,but when he was right(thankfully that was most of the time) Swaps was a speedball who routinely destroyed world,and track records,from sprint distances to 1 5/8! His light action illustrates what most great Tb's have,they seem to look like they aren't even trying,but they are so efficient that their seeming lack of exertion is an illusion. The California Speedball!
He was so beautiful and looked like a carbon copy of his sire. He even had the little white on his nose and small white on his forehead - the short back and goosey rump, that made his ability to jump and use himself in dressage incredible. He loved me like a pet and would scream from out in his pasture and gallop full bore to the gait when I came to the barn.
Analyzing his performances now, it looks like he is just breezing, and seem to posess another gear or two,unbelievable! thanks CF70simply amazing to watch.

You don't see many owners leading their horses off of planes or trailers these days, and all the horses are led on lip chains, which I hate.
