  • No Tv series can compare to Star Trek The Next Generatioin. However this score fits bett er to the video star trek 30th anniversary, check it out.

  • TNG one and only....

  • the best episode of all ,very moving

if it fails to move you ,you must be a borg drone!

  • @kevh55

I find "Lower Decks" and "Lessons" more moving. "The Inner Light" would have been better if we weren't aware he was lying on the bridge floor the whole time.

  • Beautiful, and so sad, though this was not a motion picture at a theater, it should of been one.

  • such a beautiful song brings tears to my eyes

  • beautiful, is definitely a word that i would use to describe this episode. it conveys perfectly some very deep feelings. love, loss, and everything in between. We need a world more along the lines of the federation. Anything less is a crime against humanity. Whos with me.

  • Just finished watching the episode on Netflix and had to come here to watch this again. I'm 30 years old and I still cry like a baby when I watch this episode. Def my fav of all time.

  • "The Inner Light" is the ONLY Star Trek episode to bring tears to my eyes. :) This tribute definitely does it justice. :) Thank you for making it!

  • Beautiful video, thanks for posting this.

One thing though, Picard really didn't age well....just saying

  • @EmperorHilo unless he is 250 years old in the last scene

  • 3 people have The Inner Darkness

  • Your tribute moved my heart and touched my soul all most as much as these two episodes did. Thank you for doing this for us.Live long and prosper.

  • It touches my soul - so deep ---I wanna return!

  • Incredible tribute!! Many of the comments convey the feelings that I've expereinced while watching both the original espisode and your tribute. I am glad that you included 'Lessons' in this tribute since it conveyed how important those memories were to Picard and sharing them with Neela. Btw, to this date,, "The Inner Light Suite' is the most requested piece of television/movie music in history. .

  • Great!, it´s a very nice performance about these famous episode. Thank you for upload it.

  • Great! Cannot understand s.o. dislike it.

Both Epsiodes togeteher are the full story and you diid it very well.

In the beginning she tells Picard, taht they are now living in him and I would like to suggest: Picard is living in us. Let's explore and love it.

    Thanx for posting it.

  • wow 2 years since my last comment. i felt I had to comment again because this video still gives me tingles all over, especially my favoruite bit at 5:35. Great work!

  • I can't believe that I just now found this. Truly amazing tribute to what I feel is one of the most inspiring and well performed storylines: The Inner Light. You doubled the enjoyment by adding the related story of Neela. Masterpiece indeed !!!

  • I'm in tears. You really recaptured the moments for me. This is, without a doubt, my favorite Next-Gen episode of all time.

  • Oh, Sir Stewart ...

    Great Actor

  • @valis1983 Sir goes with a man's given name. It's Sir Patrick, Sir Ian, Sir Sean etc.

  • @sondano my mistake, sorry^^

  • Thanks from Berlin! i love it so much!!!!!

  • nunca cansaré de escuchar esta música, es verdaderamente hermosa

  • best episode of trek, ever... it's too bad Nella and Jean-luc never got back together...

  • only in time

  • This is the greatest episode among all the Star Trek series. This episode never fails to bring me to tears. It is incredibly moving. I think of my entire life up until now. So bittersweet are the memories. Thankyou utopiapraxis. Thankyou Star Trek.

  • very well made

  • The inner light episode was so hauntingly powerful. I loved it, every bit of it..

It is a wonderful example of how good star trek writers were. Such good drama, such good characterisation. BIts that made you want do cry, to pump your fist and shout "Yes", and bits that made you want to hit something. Good job star trek, you did your job well.

  • Thank you so much for that; simply beautiful. I was truly moved . . . thank you again.

  • beautiful song

  • ending was beautiful

  • Seriously the best TNG episode. And that tin whistle....so haunting. I agree, it is deeply moving with a hint of regret at some loss that can't be identified.

  • Thank you for bringing this to us again - it was an amazing and moving episode

  • why do I always get goosebumps watching this episode ... i think it's maybe because this is everyone's ultimate sci fi fantasy ... the alternate life. This is what sci fi is ... not random techno babble ...

  • Wonderful.

  • this video always make me cry and desire to make the best of my life every time, to cherish every moment to really to appreciate Life.

Thanks utopiapraxis for making such a beautiful video.

  • One of the best pieces composed for any Star Trek series and a memorable episode too. It has a touch of sadness with a sense of loss and regret. Picard lived a man's life who had aspects missing in his own: a home, wife, children, grandchildren and quiet contentment. He lived a lifetime and found joy but it was gone in a few minutes. Although being a Starfleet Officer is his life, never having what he experienced gives him a feeling of regret. I'm deeply moved. Thank you and well done.

  • I just watched this again on Living and forgot how much I love this! My fav star trek episode ever out of them all!

  • I love this episode but I have to make this little joke... "If you remember who we were...and our tie dye fashions... then we'll have found life again."

  • Nice job.

As I just posted on my Facebook: Hey, I've got an idea. Let's start building the spaceships NOW, so that everything Earth has been doesn't end up reduced to a few memories stored in a probe.

  • Can't believe it took me so long to have seen this! Outstanding! One of my favorite Trek episodes ever. Very smooth transitions too. Very well done and thank you for doing it!!

  • wow.. this tribute is so touching and amazing just like the whole episode. and just like all you others wrote, this is the most amazing episode and a masterpiece.. every time i hear the theme i get goosebumps and tears in my eyes.

  • The first Star Trek was about finding green women all over the galaxy. TNG and their writers took all the best parts of Roddenberry's ideas and created true art. Try it some time. Take your son or daughter for a hike in the woods, and whistle this song. You will see why as I did, what they did with this episode.

  • THIS is the best star trek episode they ever made! I almost cried at the end it was so beautiful.

  • Wonderful!!!! Thank you so much for this tribute. You did a great job of paying tribute to the hauntingly beautiful episode of TNG. My favorite tribute!!! Bravo:)

  • Beautiful tribute. If you haven't seen the inner light episode you need to. It is the most touching episode in all of Star Trek.

  • And, still, it moves me to tears....

  • the inner light was the most touching episode i have ever seen

  • In loving memory for The Tree Knight.

    24/11/1913 13/1/1986

Thanks I give God you of the Sky, by the tender soul that you had kindness to share with me. Grandfather you are not dead, you live in my heart. It will never forget your wisdom, advice but mainly your tenderness. It rests peacefully. Blessed you God of the Cosmos.

Your grandson Maco loves you and not forget you JACM.

  • Even though Star Trek & Paramount are businesses, that aside...this time...they created ART.

  • wonderfull video! live long and prosper!

  • I love this series, this episode, and this song. If you get the chance, check out the songs "Chrono and Marle'" and "Epilogue : to good friends" from Chrono Trigger, which sound thematically similar.

  • I concur. It definitely is one of my top 10 fave episodes of any show. And the musical composition made for this episode is just so unbelievably moving.

  • One of the best TNG episodes!

  • I love this episode! The song expresses his feelings about his clouded past on the Enterprise and also his love for his new found family.

  • Brilliant sequence. Almost made me cry. Intense human experience is the only way to live.

  • The song is so beautiful.

  • i like the video

  • Computer please initiate the transport sequence of this dumbass into his own rectum....Energize!

  • Oh for fu....can't we go one god damn day without something going wrong with that thing?

Someone please get Riker/AesirV to the medical bay for separation.

  • lmao..;-)

  • maybe if it was real then this would be the right way

  • I do not believe that music can change someone's life but it did, this one it beats with my pulse and every time i hear it my tears will be out without knowing of this purity beauty.

  • The best Best Trek episode I've ever seen. Magnificient performance by Patrick Stewart.

  • One of my favorite TNG episodes, acting of Patrick Stewart, the fabric of good science fiction is that its not either part of genre classification. Excellent work.

  • One of the most legendary episodes in Star Trek's history

  • The best episode with Far Beyond the Stars (DS9)

  • "Inner Light" is the best TNG episode ever!

  • love this song

  • It's "Inner Light Suite" by Jay Chattaway.

    24/11/1913-13/1/1986

    Tu nieto MACO

  • only one word to say WOW!!!!!

  • wonderful... thank you

  • Beautiful work man. This moves in people.

  • Thanks for posting these. Jay Chattaway rules!!!

I have a hard time listening and not getting teary.

  • All I can say is wow. A nice piece of editing there.

It's too bad they only did the one song. I dounbt you can have a bad tune with that flute.

    Howl on!

  • Outstanding, beautiful video well done. Greetings

  • I love 5:35 when the music gets upbeat and the enterprise goes into warp!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you noticed. I was trying to capture the magic of the "adventure" with that one.

  • Great! :)

  • A really fantastic tribute to one of my favourite - and in my opinion, THE most moving - TNG episode ever. Great work!

  • OMG! What a tribute. I remember watching both of these. Recording them together just so I could see them both one after the other. You made a fantastic tribute. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • You're welcome. :-)

  • This was the only TNG episode that made me cry. Legit. And I'm hard!

  • Great video, fantastic editing.

  • Brilliant! :D

  • It is brilliant when great writing and great acting are paired with fantastic editing. You have summed up what Picard's music meant to him with flawless editing. I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you.

  • good job 5 stars for you

  • Intelligent and sensitive editing -- you've captured the meaning behind both episodes. Nicely done!

  • The better episode of The Next Generation!

  • Really great! The episode "Inner Light" and "Lessons" brought me to learning piano. At least starting ... ;)

Thanks for this nice video (and part 2).

  • VERY well done. You did a great job capturing the essence of these two great episodes. I love the ending with Picard playing the flute (which does not even play). Inner Light is one of my absolute favorite episodes.

  • I think when you have one of these moment in life, a true realization of how connected we over the thousands of years... You dont think life is meaningless or vain. I wish I could thank Gene for making this episode. Really gave a lot of people hope.

  • Sorry but Gene died before this episode was made. He died early during the 5th series.

    Great episode though.

  • It does not get any better than this episode. But I would like to see a pt 2 when the Captain and crew search for what's left of the planet and sees what remains of this civilisation. Could be good.....

  • One of television's finest hours.

  • Sometimes, on occasion, television does seem to show understanding. ;-)

  • Very, very well done!! You completely captured what makes "The Inner Light" and later, "Lessons" so special. These are truly two of my favorite TNG episodes, and my hat is off to you for managing to do them justice. The only constructive comment I have is that you maybe didn't need to include the bit at the end (the final scene from "The Inner Light"). Otherwise, I doubt anyone could possibly do better.

  • "Inner Light" is one of my favorite episodes of STNG. The story and the song are both so very haunting. This tribute is just right. Thanks.

  • i watched "lessons" last week. you could almost feel picard's angst when he sits in his quarters not knowing if neela will be found.

  • There were lots of great episodes, but the "Inner Light" is my favorite, superb story, so sad too, that a race in an effort to just be known to have exist would do this, its like saying, we lived, this is who we were, dont forget us, wonderful episode.

  • Quality pure quality.

  • You're welcome and thank you.

I hope you enjoy "The Visitor" tribute as well. You can find the link in the description.

  • Yeah that one was awesome too.

  • well put together video, friend. Thanks for that tribute.

  • You're welcome friend.

Next time you're out near the river or the sea, pick a rock that seems just right for you, and toss it out. You'll understand.

  • Indudablemente el mejor episodio de esta serie. Contiene la esencia de Star Trek Ir a donde nadie ha estado antes.

    Gracias Dios

  • Anyone who doubts the influence of music and musicians should watch this episode. Jerry Goldsmith has always outdone himself when it comes to Star Trek, but this piece far surpasses his previous work. I always get a sense of pride and respect when listening to this song...I remember the explorers spirit that Gene Roddenberry had, which made Star Trek such a delight each week.

  • This was a Jay Chattaway piece, not Jerry Goldsmith.

  • Thank you for correcting me, all this time I thought it was Jerry Goldsmith. Now I am curious about the other songs that Chattaway composed for Star Trek. I read a review stating that Jay lead an orchestra of penny whistles that played this song. I hope I can find the concert on YouTube or the web.

  • "the inner light", is my #1 favorite episode of nay star trek series!...thank you for this!...peace...wally ~8-)

  • Amazing tribute to an amazing episode.

  • It was so well done, the music, the story, everything from this episode was just unique, but the melody just surpasses anything I have heard before, simply amazing.

Thx TNG, for coming at the right time!

  • Loved this episode! This is the only one that truley sticks into my memory. I would love to watch it over and over and over again.

  • There are few episodes of TNG that cut to the core, and this is one of them. This episode along with the The Offspring where Data creates Lal are my favorite episodes. They move any Star Trek fan in a way that no other episode has before.

I would dare anyone, fan or not, to watch this episode and not feel the sense of joy and loss at the temporary life Picard experiences. I am always reminded to enjoy life and take stock of my relationships after watching this episode.

  • Love this episode. love the song. love this video...

Its the closest i have been to crying ^^

  • Thank you. I come back here every few months to remember this story, and each time it gets me. The story, the acting and the music are all superb. Your editing is incredible. Thank you.

  • SIMPLISMENTE MARAVILHOSO

  • Thank you so much. STAR TREK - and especially the episode THE INNER LIGHT has so much heart and quality. The spirit of STAR TREK is unique and so much needed in our modern, cold and brutal world.

  • Beautiful and very touching. You understand it better watching "The Inner Light." That episode brings tears to my eyes everytime.

  • Just one word: Beautiful!

Makes me cry every time when I hear this music and see this episode:The Inner Light. Thank you.

  • Definatly one of the best Next Gen. episodes! I can't watch this enough.

  • the original of this wonderful music changed my life and took a lots of tears of my eyes everytime i hear it or see the seriers, just the simplisity and the love this gives when you hear it.

  • this is defo my favourite episode

  • my all time favourite next gen episode thanks still makes me cry fantastic acting by Patrick Stewart..keep up the good work...

  • Could Someone Please post this full episode?

  • This was the best TNG and quite possibly the best TV show ever made. Loved this one. Made me cry and still makes me cry ever time I watch it. Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with us. :)

  • Patrick Stewart was at his best in this one. I think he actually cited it as his most favorite episode, if I'm not mistaken.

  • The most touching episode of any TV series. I've seen it only once, but I'll remeber it a lifetime. My favourite. Excellent.

  • This is one of my favorite Trek episodes. Using Patrick Stewart's son in this was very fitting. Everyone should watch this episode. Make it so!

  • This episode is so very wonderful that I made my very own playlist(with full credits going to the creators of the videos)because seeing this reminded me of how much I love and care about my girlfriend/fiance even though she was almost taken away from me.Thank you so very much.Makes me cry and fills me up with joy, love, and other warm feelings.Thank you so much again.

  • This is my most favorite episode of star trek. You did a great job on this video and im sorry to hear about your laptop.

  • How can I obtain a copy of this exceptional piece of editing?

  • Well, you might not believe this. I didn't back up the original soon enough and my laptop got stolen. The low-res version stored by youtube is the only version in existence.

  • Thanks. ;-)

  • Absolutely a great piece of editing -- intelligent and sensitive! Nicely done!

  • and thank you Mercari1964. ;=]

  • Superb piece of film editing. Thanks for your hard work. It's wonderful viewing.

  • a superior performance by Patrick Stewart

  • magical!!

  • This show just how precious life really is and what it means to be free and truly happy

  • Nice work! thanks!

  • The last scene in the episode- Picard playing the melancholy tune in his quarters, then as the Enterprise slowly moves away from the camera- has to be one of the most touching moments in television. Truly one of the highest points in this all-around excellent show.

  • I couldn't agree more. It's very touching.

  • This is gorgeous. Please tell me the name of the song you used and where I can buy it. Thanks!

  • The song is the suite from the Star Trek episode "The Inner Light."

  • It is on the "Best of Star Trek: 30th anniversary CD."

  • Thanks - This episode was just re-run in the UK on Sky one, without doubt my favourite episode - some 10 years on from when I first saw it I am still touched by it - absolute gem, what a great lesson in life...

  • Best TNG episode...I always cry when they re-run this

  • Very beautiful.

  • Thanks. Now I definitely want to see this episode again.

  • Many thanks for posting (and editing) this video. It is simply so beautiful -- my favorite by far. It gives me a little hope for what legacy humankind will leave when it expires. Thanks also for the "Lessons" posting, another wonderful scene.

  • I had goosebumps too, on this episode. What a nice way to put it together!

  • Do you have the one with Picard and the women with the fold up piano? I love that one and i can't find it anywhere. Please would love to hear it. Excellent video by the way. Love it so much

  • Search for "Startrek Lessons" to get that vid.

  • Where did you get this song, please please please tell us, i would like a high quality version to just listen to, it is so beautiful.

  • Here is a version of the song i will have up for a bit. Its so beautiful, i had to share it.

    [files.cedarboy[dot com][slash]startrek-picard_flute_solo.mp3]

  • hey,ya think I can download it on LimeWire?

  • I had goosebumps the entire time! Thank you for making this, it's wonderful.
