  • Anyone know of a keyboard tab for this? I must have it!!

  • there one of few bands that are better live.. sik vid

  • JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH PEOPLE. lol, craig finn is my idol.

  • And it seemed like a simple place to score. Then some old lady came to the door and said Mckenzie Phillips doesn't live here anymore.

  • incredible line.... Craig spits hot fire!

  • this is a great live video. i was at that show too lol. im amazed that ive just now found this video... 506 is a nifty place.

  • RHCP suck. I'm offended that anyone would even bring them into a discussion about the Hold Steady.

  • poo

  • craig finn is a fucking poet

  • thx rhcp obv u like the chili peppers how do u feel about craig finn's comment regarding them??

  • the reason he brings that shit onstage is because he is a badass don't u feel cooler when you are holding a guitar

  • Amazing comment. Candidate for best comment ever, on the entire youtube machine.

Additionally, he plays his guitar a lot in other songs.

  • love the song, love the band, but seriously, why does craig finn even bother bringing a guitar on stage if he never plays it?

  • Does anyone know where I can find a guitar tab for this song?

  • Dude these guys rock! He reminds me of Henry Rolans a lot. Does anyone know if they are Christians or just dissin on Christianity?

  • They're definitely not active Christians, I can tell you that. Craig's stories generally involve drug use and religion as interchangeable.

  • sorry but who gives a fuck its a song

  • A song that tells a story. The Hold Steady's songs are not told in a vacuum - they interweave with other songs in past and current albums (especially in Separation Sunday) to create characters that reappear and progress (or regress).

Imagine a novel where each chapter is a self-contained short story, but finds ways to connect with other stories. That's how Craig Finn writes, so "it's a song" doesn't quite cut it for The Hold Steady.

  • youre 'novel' analogy is perfect. one of my friends asked me why he always repeated shit from other songs and "why he cant come up with new lines." because its a story. not a line. and the story doesnt end with the song. AND it lets you know who actually listens to the music to know what/who hes talking about. good shit.

  • your... my b.

  • Why is he being voted down? What Craig Finn does with his songs is true - drugs and religion are often used in the same context with the same analogies.

If you don't support it, whatever, but voting down the comment is retarded. It's just plain fact.

  • @loganrapp I'd disagree with that. I'm pretty certain that Craig is a practicing Catholic. That's what I've gathered from his lyrics and interviews anyway.

  • Best Live Bands according to Rolling Stone:

    #9 The Hold Steady

    Finally, RS gets something right.

  • this is kool

  • it sounds a bit weird sometimes live but...this is like the best Hold Steady song, and they're a fuckin sweet band so it still sounds great

  • shu ya face its awsome ya miserable begger ha

  • does it bother anybody else that he improvises the lyrical rhythm? I don't know, I just don't like the was he does the songs live. the instrumentals are epic, but I just wish he would sing the songs the way they sound on CD, instead of pulling this shatner-esque ranting bullshit.

  • Just listen to the CD then.

  • teddman, you're kind of missing the point

  • Nope, I like his delivery.

  • lulz

  • yeah man...I see where you're coming from but I think its interesting. I think its good that they're a band that doesn't play each song the exact same time every night...No hard feelings, I hate arguing over the internet

  • Simply amazing.

  • I love this song. I love this band.

  • I love this song.

  • This is great.
