but a safe next bet might be good news for people who love bad news, or the moon and anarctica,

personally, my favorite of the older ones is lonesome crowded west, but's waaaaaay different than this one. more raw, not as pop-ish.

If you are looking for something less "pop-ish".. "Building Nothing Out of Something" is a great album.. or for something a bit newer "No One's First and You're Next"..

if this was the first Modest Mouse album you purchased, then you are in REALLY good shape as far as the future of Modest Mouse is concerned. Moon and Antarctica and Lonesome Crowded West are their best. They're all good however.

I'd say go with Good News, Moon and Antarctica, or No One's First. If it were me I'd get No One's First, because then you can stay current with the bands direction, and also backtrack on their illustrious past.
