When that stuff happens, I think that's when the audience will favor some characters or I should say side with them...I watch Seinfeld and I find it entertaining, sure George has his fits and stuff, but he never goes over the edge like debra did with her role on the show, that's entertainment that will make people laugh and enjoy the show.

I think they retconned Gianni's character. The actor who plays him (Jon Manfrellotti) 1st appeared as a nameless cable TV installer who gave Ray a fine for having an illegal splitter on his cable that went to Frank & Marie's house.

They did the same thing with his friend Kevin (played by Kevin James). They changed his name to Doug & made him work for UPS. As the Kevin character, he was a sportscaster for the Mets.
